Finding Time
I am officially six months out from surgery and down 55 lbs. I have been stuck at the loss for about 3 weeks. I know that I need to exercise. I am just trying to find the time...I know that is a tired excuse. However, when I look at my days, I truly wonder...where to find the time. I am doing the blog during my late lunch. I get up at 6:00 to cook breakfast before sending my children off to school. I work from 7:00 to 3:00. At 3:00, I start dinner for my twins who just started middle school. They eat, do a little homework before going out the door to take my daughter to swimming and my son to wrestling. Then, I pick up the 2 high school students and run them home to eat. By this time we are looking at 6 to 6:30 ish. I make sure they have dinner before going back out the door to pick up the 2 middle school students again. When that is all said and done...I am home by 8 in the evening...minus the nights that the 2 in high school have their swim meet or wrestling match. Then, comes the weekend..swim meet on Saturday and wrestling on Sunday for the youth sports. Of course this is in addition to all of the house work and cleaning. I quess I can just say.....I can't wait until the winter sport season is over. We are all going to take a break and just go to the YMCA together. I know I could get up in the morning. However, I get up twice during the night to put wood on the fire that heats our home....especially after last months $500 electric bill (used the electric heat instead of wood...big mistake). However, I do have so much to be thankful for.....we had a snow day. I went to bed at 7:30. I woke up to find that my children had cleaned the downstairs. It was spotless. There was not one dirty dish left in the sink. Now anyone with children knows that is a true miracle. As they see how busy I am, they have all really stepped up to the plate to help out. My husband who has been working out of town....is coming home this weekend. Yeah!!!!! He is always so appreciative and does everything when he is home. And....I feel better than I have felt in years. It amazes me how much more energy I have with the 55 lb weight loss. I cannot imagine if my husband had to work out of town before my lapband. I don't think I could have done what I have this winter. Oh well.....I am thankful for this blog. Instead of rewarding myself with food ....for all of my hard work. I just vented and feel so much better!!!!!

Still going...slowly
Don't get discouraged. This is a journey that takes time. I am looking at mine as a lifetime journey. I know I will have days that are better than others. I suggest keeping a journal. It really helps to see what you are doing and to really reflect on where you can make changes. I have hit a lot of plateaus recently. I know it is because I am not getting in the exercise that I did in the summer and early fall. I know that this has to change to help me get over this bump in the road. I also suggest that you come to this site for support. It really helps to keep you focused. Good luck as you continue!

First fill
I know I was so scared when I went in for my fist fill. However, I found out that I didn't even "feel" it. I laughed as it went so smoothly. Glad you went great for you too!

Frustrated...
I feel your grrrrrr.....I have been stuck at a 55 lbs. I just know that my body tries to hold onto weight and then within a few days I will lose 2 to 3 lbs all at once. Keep working and it will be reflected soon!

I'm baaack!
Good luck as you continue on your lapband journey. I love the idea of setting your weekly SMART goals!

Um...Yeah I'll Have The Protein Shake, Please
Oh, my goodness! I think that so many of us could relate to your blog. I had that day last week when I just wanted to vent....and then refocus and get back on track. Thanks for sharing!

New Strategy
I do both. I try to get in somewhere between 1,000 to 1,100 calories a day. Also, I try to focus on getting my required protein. I know that my body really struggled when I did not get enough calories. So, I increased them and the weight really did start to come off. I am at a plateau right now. However, this is the way my body works. It will stay "stuck" for about 9 days and then boom....I lose 3 to 4 lbs in 2 or 3 days. So, I just stay patient and wait for it to happen. Good luck on your journey!

Post Op 11 Months and I am Still Failing..
Remember this is a journey. There are bumps in the road. I wrote down some quotes at the beginning of the year. One of my favorite quotes is..."You don't drown by falling in the water, you drown by staying there." You are ready to get yourself back up out of the water. Take time each day to focus on your journey. Try to go back for one more visit with your doctor to talk with the nutritionous and get a fill if needed. You can do it!

But my name is Rachel!!!....
Wow....some people just don't realized the power of words. When you were telling the story...I thought he was going to say you. You are beautiful. I mean why else share the story with you? I wasn't anticipating that ending. I thought the patient has just forgotten your name. This co worker....ahhhhh. Why share a story that would hurt someones feelings? Keep you chin high and know that true beauty isn't whether you are "gorgeous". It is the beauty from the inside. You just happen to be blessed with both!

Day 3... I think I am going to cry...
Trust me when I say that most of us on this site are emotional eaters. I know I have/had a very personal relationship with food. I used it when time were great to celebrate and to calm nerves when I was stressed. I think that is probably the hardest part of this journey is redefining your relationship with food. At least that has been mine. I just tell myself that this is a journey. I have not been perfect. However, when I do hit a bump in the road, I get back up, refocused and keep moving forward. It is normal to have all of those feelings. You are just beginning your journey. It is important to share with those who understand exactly what you are going through. Guess what....we never get tired of hearing it because we totally understand. I am down 55 lbs in a little over 5 month. You will soon be there as well!

Cool Website
Thanks for sharing! I am going to look at the site now.

GRRR YOU SCALE!
My body works that way...good weight loss than a plateau for about 8 or 9 days. Then...another good weight loss. I am sure it will start to move soon.

Starting again presents a challenge.
It is hard finding that right balance. I know after my second fill I worried that it might be too much. However, I did learn how to be successful with it and I am down 55 lbs. The good news is that you are looking at what you can do to stay on track. I know that planning really helps me to stay on track. Good luck until you have the next fill.

6 more sleeps!
Wow...you are off to a good start! I am also an emotional eater and that has been the biggest part of this journey for me. Good luck as you begin your lapband journey and keep up posted!

Climbing back on the horse...
Remember this is a journey and our lapband is a tool to help us on our journey. We will hit bumps in the road. The important thing is to get back up and keep working for it. As I shared with several other member a quote I found that really hit home for me: "You don't drown by falling in the water, you drown by staying there." You made the decision to "get out of the water" and keep working! I also stress coming to this site to help you stay focused on your journey!

I made it to my Dr.'s appt.and left a lil optimistic
My best friend had the sleeve done, and I had the band done. We both love what we chose. I did have a few concerns before my band. However, I was too scared to have anything else done. I say go with what you feel is right for you. There are always chances of band erosion. However, I am not going to worry about that until I have a reason to worry. Good luck on your choice!

Time for a fitness challenge!
I agree that the blogging helps to keep us focused. It really helps me to give myself at least 15 minutes each day to visit this site and refocus my goals. It helps keep me motivated and accountalbe!

Losing a pound a day
Wow, that is great and it sounds like you are doing an amazing job on your journey! Keep up the great effort!

Overeating and Vomitting
Yes, I have eaten too fast....and had that same hurtful experience. I have learned not to wait too long to eat because if I do...I end up eating too fast and pay the consequences. You are right..it just is not worth it!

Questioning myself
I am now over 5 months out and I have lost 55 lbs as of today. I am so excited! The first few days after surgery, I did question myself. However, 5 months out, I can say for me it is well worth it. The lapband was the perfect tool for me. I was like you and just could not have anything cut in my body. Trust me I don't fault those who do...it just wasn't for me. Just remember this is a tool to help you on your journey for weight loss. Good luck on your journey!

2 Months Post-Op: Entering Twosville
Congrats on making it into the 200's! Isn't that an awesome feeling? I too have to eat extremely slow. I have gotten sick eating too fast. Good luck as you continue on your journey!

What is going on ?!?!
I might postpone your appointment with the lapband doctor until you can get the sinus/allergy thing under control. Once you have that under control you may have a better picture if you actually need a fill or not. Hoping that you are able to get it under control soon!
