  1. I'm getting my T levels tested on Monday, I doubt it's low, though - I don't think I would've been able to maintain my muscle mass with low testosterone. Did your friend get injections or use topical T?
  2. Anyone been on Wellbutrin before? My doc suggested it as a potential treatment for my non-existent sex drive, and some superficial internet research resulted in lots of positive opinions on this drug - including for weightloss - so I'm thinking of trying it. Does anyone have any personal experiences? Curious as to the effects it had on your sex drive, sleeping, appetite, and general well-being. Just wondering what to expect - the only "brain drug" I've been on to date was Prozac. Well, the only legal brain drug....
  3. You're gonna be fine by Monday! I had a bit of a cold going in (no fever) and my Dr. still went ahead. I didn't have any issues post-op.
  4. Bfast: custard bun (yeah, yeah, I know) Lunch: most of 1/2 a pork burrito, chips with guacamole Snack: SF latte, plain yogurt with some jam and nuts/seeds Dinner: going out for Pasta (probably penne with chicken and lobster!)
  5. I don't know if it'd work very well, otherwise alcohol wipes would be flying off the shelves! I've never gotten any sort of buzz from using rubbing alcohol, for example.
  6. I don't see why not, but I'd ask your doctor just to be safe. Also, I don't know when you had your surgery, but once you are on soft foods, the diarrhea will most likely go away. Most people seem to have it during the liquid stage.
  7. Nice! It reminded me of that stupid "feel good" piece of advice you sometimes see in magazines, where they tell you to throw out your "skinny clothes" from the old days so that they don't make you feel bad....I'm glad I kept some of mine, as I am now swimming in them and throwing them out for a totally different reason!
  8. Should I answer this from the pre-op or post-op perspective?
  9. Thankfully, I haven't noticed anything. Still barely scraping by at school, just like I was before the surgery!
  10. Bfast: banana Snack: Protein bar Lunch: roasted duck and some sauerkraut Snack: medium matcha latte (ton of sugar in it - wtf! not getting this one again) Dinner: not sure yet, going out as per usual
  11. Have you thought about getting some counselling? Might be worthwhile, you say you have dad issues, and then the major weightloss/change in lifestyle on its own is enough to warrant counselling. As far as sarcasm, I wouldn't worry about it - I'm not a ray of sunshine, either, but I've met tons of men who like my sense of humor. And I personally get extremely annoyed by people who have to take everything literally and get offended at everything, who wants to hang out with those types, anyway? Right!? Also, it's ok to have to wait a while for a good relationship. I dated a lot in college, but couldn't seem to find anyone to get serious with....in the meantime, all my friends were in relationships - with idiots, deadbeats, and stoners. I, for one, would rather be alone!
  12. Every once in a while, maybe once every few weeks, I don't chew something properly and then it doesn't sit well with me. I don't feel nauseous, but I feel pressure in my chest, and if I productive-burp (not vomit per se) some of the food, it relieves the discomfort. It was a more common occurence for me in the first 3 months post-surgery.
  13. There's a new paper out saying the link between esophageal cancer and GERD is not as strong as once thought. Also, I think it's different for everyone. I have slightly more reflux post-surgery than I did before (which was like once a year), but I don't take a PPI and I only use an antacid maybe once a month, if not less. You are not doomed to having reflux.
  14. That price sounds reasonable to me. I got a quote from Dr. Bello in Mexico for a friend and he also quoted around 6-7K.
  15. Yeah, I've tried 'em. I've mixed them into juices, etc, but I bet they'd be even better in milk or drinkable yogurt. Just make sure you are using pasteurized egg whites - do not use raw.
  16. Wow, what a change! You lost 20 years, too!
  17. I guess the real question is, why are you having trouble eating? Are you in pain when you eat?
  18. I agree, skip the Alli at this point. If you are 3 years out, that's a different situation; but with a very low-cal, low-fat post-op regime, it could give you gallstones, as mentioned above.
  19. I haven't heard THAT comment, but I've kept my surgery info privy to a small circle of good friends and family. The only time I had a bad reaction was when a friend's mom told me I was going to die because one of her friends died a few years after having WLS (presumably, bypass - she never shared the crucial detail of what type of WLS) and that I made the stupidest decision ever. Then she stormed out....you'd think people would have cultivated SOME manners by the time they get to their 50s. But I have been witness to a variety of rants about how people go to Mexico to get "all kinds of stupid surgeries" - including WLS - and then "we" have to pay for their complications (I live in Canada). I just bite my tongue....
  20. I haven't noticed that at all. I don't gulp down cold drinks in huge quantities, but sipping on a smoothie or having ice cream doesn't seem to bother me.
  21. Thanks, I was actually able to find it in the baking aisle of my Safeway!
  22. Bfast: 1/2 a veal canneloni from last night's dinner Lunch: glass of milk and 2 Cookies (yes, I'm a 3rd grader) sugar-free latte Snack: other 1/2 of the canneloni Dinner: slice of naan paneer, paneer korma (Indian cashew-based curry with light cheese) Workout: ran a mile to the Indian restaurant, walked the mile back
  23. I haven't seen anyone on these forums post about hernias, so I'd venture that they are quite rare. You'll feel it if you have one - I had one as a child and one of my friends still has one. Like others said, there's literally be a squishy bump of intestine under your skin.
  24. You can eat so much right now because you are on full liquids and they are just running through your sleeve instead of hanging around to tell you you're full sooner! No, it's true! Just wait til you get to mushies and try a soft-boiled egg....if you can eat an entire egg in 10 minutes, I owe you a Big Mac, feel free to call me out on it. Also, cravings are normal. I'd avoid the TV with the annoying food commercials, if at all possible. Also, try to appease your taste buds by choosing liquids that are more flavorful (savory cream Soups in addition to sweet juices, etc).
  25. That's funny! Sure beats my food funerals pre-surgery! But I think the idea of NEVER eating your favorite food again is pretty stupid. Unless you have a major reason (e.g. deathly allergy), you WILL cave in at some point.
