  1. I understand how you feel. I lost 9 lbs my first week, since then nothing. I am 12 days post op. I go for my first fill in 3.5 weeks and the only thing I am thinking right now is how will I look and feel if I go in and have lost nothing. I feel once I start eating real food, I will start losing, I hope
  2. It may be from being intubated (the breathing tube they put in you) how long post op are you? You should get it checked though, because it is possible you could have pneumonia
  3. As for whether you can drink shakes, that is up to your Dr. I was allowed to progress to shakes at 5 days, some people are on clear liquids longer. Yeah the isopure drinks are nasty, I could not get my protein in during the clear liquids because all the clear protein drinks are nasty. I am drinking the Unjury shakes, I like chocolate splendor, mixed with milk, it tastes just like chocolate milk, and the vanilla, not sure how to describe it, but it is good. They're not thick, but they are filling to me.
  4. I would probably tell my Dr. but then again people have reasons not to tell people. I did not tell my sister 'til after I had surgery, well the next time I saw her which was Christmas, 5 days after surgery. My sister is a very opinionated person and I was afraid she would say something negative and I did not want to hear it and my mom completely understood. She was actually ok with it and did not really say much about it. She is overweight as well, not to the extent I was, but she is taller than I am, so it is more spread out on here.
  5. Happy new year! 11 days post op for me and I am starting out 2011 on the right foot and will be able to keep my resolution this year. 2011 is going to be a great year for me
  6. I had a girl at work who had asked where I'd been, so I said I had surgery, and I was hoping she'd be ok with that answer and not press me, but she kept asking what for, so I said the same thing, that I had a hiatal hernia repair, which was not a lie, it just wasn't the complete truth. I will probably tell peope eventually, but right now, it is my thing and I do not want everyone knowing. I don't want to hear if they think it was a bad idea, or feel like I have everyone watch like everything I put in my mouth.
  7. Southern Leo - I had been taking gummy vitamins, fiber supplements, and the viactiv type calcium prior to surgery. So I had asked my surgeon prior to surgery when I could start them again and he said like 5 days, so I waited the 5 days after surgery.
  8. I did not even see the surgeon, I saw the PA for my post op. Basically she just asked how I was doing and if any problems. She did not even look at my incisions which surprised me. I mean if I did not work in the medical field and know what to look for my I mean my incisions could be infected for all they know.
  9. I am 11 days post op an stalled since Monday, I'd be thrilled if I'd lost 2.5 lbs.
  10. I was at work yesterday, and I am 11 days post op now, and I was starving (yeah I was not this hungry on the pre op diet). Someone brought in chips and sour patch kids and I wanted to run over there and devour it all, but I held my ground. Surprisingly even when one of the Vets, ( only a few people at work know I had surgery and he does not know) asked me like 4 times if I wanted a sour patch kid and I kept saying no, and he kept insisting, I was like I am watching what I eat, I still held my ground. But today, I will be bringing an extra protein drink with me.
  11. I was cleared to do cardio (which I consider dancing to be) when I went for my check up at 9 days post op, they said not lifting for 2 more weeks. Should be ok, I would think
  12. I was banded 11 days ago, and I have not lost any weight since Monday (in fact I am up a little bit, might be from sodium in egg drop soup, I am thinking), But yeah, since I am on liquids, I am only having about 600 calories. I posted a thread yesterday if people think I need to increase that and I think I have been taking in to low of calories for to many days that it finally stalled my weight loss, I tried to bump it up yesterday and eat more, only got to maybe 800 calories, but it did not change, like I said it may be the soup. My long term goal, once I start eating real food is at least 1200 calories or more, I find I can't eat that low and still lose weight. I did WW last year and I tried to eat under the points and I stalled, and once I started eating more I started losing again. I may just be stuck in a plateau til I get to increase my calories with real food, which totally sucks, but I am afraid to eat to much and to any damage, and it is hard to get a lot of calories on liquids.
  13. The thing is that I don't think the detectors at stores detect metal, I think it is more of a security code detection tyoe thing. I have not seen one in real life, but I would assume the lap band is made all out of silicone, maybe a little rubber for the injection port. I would not think that they should be able to set off a store security detector. Yes, they might had a serial number inscribed into them, but surely not one to set off a detector. I would think that that would be retarded on the manufacturer to make them that way. But, it is really weird that you are setting off detectors. Are you wearing the same sweater or anything, I got my sister a sweater for Christmas that I had to cut the security tag out of or they told me it might set off the detectors
  14. Yeah, I think it is to low. I worked in the beginning, now it is not, I'm going to drink an extra shake or something
  15. I am 10 days out and I have not lost any weight since Monday. I am barely getting 600 calories per day, since I am still on liquids. I am kind of thinking the low calories is why I am stalled right now, do you think I should try to increase it now, or just wait, I got to purees on Monday and maybe will be able to get a little more then. If I were to increase it now, how would I do it? I may try to eat a greek yogurt today and see what that does, but problem is I don't get that hungry, or if I do it is at night.
  16. I'm 28, also got banded on the 20th of this month
  17. I am not at that point. I am still on liquids. But prior to surgery I was always constipated and I took miralax 5 times a week to keep me going. I also took fiber gummies and was eating fiber one bars (not sure if I will be able to eat those when I get to real food, I hope so). But the miralax works well, and I was told taking that daily is a lot better than taking stool softeners daily, they can lead to liver problems with continued use.
  18. A cc is a unit of measurement for liquids it. It is interchangable with ml (milliliter)
  19. I agree, Monday was one week since surgery for me, I wanted to get out of the house so bad, so I decided to go back to work and shoveled my car out. Not a very good idea one week post op and I hope I did not do any damage doing so, my back and arm are so sore today. I go for my post op tomorrow, not sure whether to tell my surgeon. But as with you, I am so bored being at home (always off on Tuesday and Wednesday), there is so much snow and it is so cold, I can't really go for a walk, and not risking going to the gym until my recheck.
  20. I am not sure what mine are going to do, I really hope they shrink. I already need a lift, have for as long as I can remember and I am only 28. It has been my plan to get them done when I lose the weight. (hopefully I will be able to afford it when the time comes). Or start planning on complaining of back pain to try and get insurance to cover some of it
  21. Since my pre op diet, I've almost lost an automobile tire. Though from my highest weight ever, I've lost the worlds largest ball of tape. Though, since I have lost and gained a bit probably more than that...lol
  22. Good Job! I'm 5 days post op too. I went over my parent house today and my mom had made Soup for me, so I ate the broth, there was other stuff there and I was tempted, but I held my ground. Luckily I was at least able to move on to shakes (after being on Clear liquids since surgery), that at least filled me up a little more and I was able to get more Protein in. Not sure how your doctor works it, but I won't be able to go to mushies, until the earliest next Monday (2 weeks post op), if you are allowed lucky you. My mom had made matza ball soup and I so wanted one, I figure when I am on mushies I can kind of blend one, so she sent me home with a box. I go for my post op on Wednesday and have to remember to ask what size is the band and if there is anything in it. I never asked before surgery and I did not see him after surgery
  23. I tried the Bariatric Eating one as recommended by people on here, and I totally disagree that it has no taste, I tried mixig it in my crystal light and I wanted to vomit. I, unfortunately have yet to find a Protein powder that is tasteless. So I am not getting my correct amount of protein which I really don't know what to do. If it makes me want to vomit, I do not know what else to do. Though to you it may be ok, because it was recommended by a bunch of people
  24. I am 4 days post op and at times I feel like I have a little energy other times I have none, some of may have to do with boredom. But really I think it is the fact I am getting less than 200 cal/ day. Tomorrow I am going to try a protein shake and hope that gives me more energy. I go back to work on Monday and am hoping I can make it through the day.
  25. Well I can't start the shakes 'til tomorrow at the earliest. The nutritionist said if I was doing ok with the liquids at 5 days I could go to full liquids. So I am going by that. I already have shakes ready to go. Got some Unjury ones and A Vitamin Shop one that is pretty good, I also have a bunch of EAS lite cookies and cream pre made ones in the fridge. Wow, so the gas pains could last for 2 weeks or more, that sucks.
