How many fills is normal or not normal?
I am 14 months post op....just got my third fill yesterday. My last fill was in October, at that time I had 5 cc's...I am now at 7 cc's. Doctor told me since I proved that I can lose the weight...that it is likely I am ready for a fill. After every fill he tells me, "Your going to be a sipper now"....never happened before. But after yesterday....hell ya, I have to sip my fluids...I feel pressure in chest for a few seconds. I am afraid he may have went too tight...or maybe this is what the sweet spot feels like?? I dont know, never had it!! But I am down 98 lbs....not too much more to lose, maybe about 30. Oh, and dr does fill with floruoscopy . He says this was a perfect fill....will see )

3 years post band and ps now done
How soon after plastic surgery did you get the infection?? I hear a lot of bad things about getting thighs done, but I so need it done badly....my plan is to go to Mexico for plastics and I would like to stay in their after care facility for 2 weeks....just in case any infections arise!! I am just wondering if 2 weeks is not long enough...I figure if something bad was to happen it would be within first 2 weeks...and Congrats on your new look....I know I get compliments everyday, but I am not done losing yet )

How do you get your daily protein in?
Love these shakes....they are the only ones I buy. Vanilla is not good...I haven't seen strawberry, that sounds good. I try to drink one everyday

After nearly 4 years, I want to quit
I was going to say the same thing Shirley....get a fill under fluoroscopy....it is the best way!! I have been banded for over a year and have had only 2 fills...I love my band and couldn't even imagine not having it now....good luck!

band slippage
I think instead of waiting for someone to answer your question....I would be calling my surgeon ASAP. It sounds like something may be wrong with your band. Please call your doctor soon...waiting over 2 weeks is too long!! Keep us posted

Lower Body Lift - Circumferential Body Lift

thank you so much for this post....I just started researching for plastic surgery and I believe I will also need a lower body lift...most concern, my thighs, tummy and butt. I also found dr quiroz and started researching him. He is my likely candidate for this procedure. I won't be able to do the procedure until next June. I received an email from Joyce today, but I think it is too soon for pics...as I want to be 2 years post op. I have lost 85 lbs and I am praying more will come off...nothing in 6 weeks!! But I was curious how much body lift was with Quiroz...thanks for the info!! I am ready to go now...lol

ok, so here it is, MY truth about the lap band....right now, anyway
I don't even know what to say to your post....I absolutely love my band!! I have gone from a size 26 to a size 18 in 9 months....I am so happy right now. Size 16 is just around the corner. I hardly ever get stuck with food. So, I still enjoy all foods but with moderation. Sometimes I think I eat too much....I never deprive myself of sweets. And I also agree about the addiction, for me now....my addiction is walking....I now love to walk. I hope you can get past this emotional break and start loving your band...Also, when I look in the mirror, I also still see FAT....I hope some day that will change!

Anyone else having problems eating in the morning?
I also can't eat in the mornings. I have a really large cup of coffee with nonfat milk. I will then eat breakfast around 9:30 or so. Sometimes I forget to eat until it is lunch time... Eggs I have a hard time eating....My surgeon says that when your sleeping saliva builds up in your pouch so better to drink something warm when you wake up to drain the saliva...but then my coffee fills me up and gets me through the mornings.

what am I doing wrong
So, this might sound strange.....but I believe that you need to take in some more calories. Change your calorie intake to about 1200....it sounds weird but trust me, it worked for me. Your body might be storing calories....maybe just add in an extra Protein shake. I went through the same thing, I couldn't understand the whole weight lose thing...as a matter of fact, I have been at another plateau for the last 2 months!! It is soooooo very frustrating!! I started a yoga class this week, so I am hoping that may help for me !! Good luck to you.....

A little help please.......
I was able to add tomato juice. Be careful with your creamy soups, they contain a lot of sodium and some are fatty. If you can, get fat free soups. You should also be able to add cream of wheat, oatmeal....anything that you can suck up through a big straw...That's what I was told...Also make sure your pudding is sugar free )

Sliming/PB'ing
I am wondering....was your last fill done today?? My surgeon uses the xray for fills....so he never over fills his patients. When I have had a fill, my surgeon puts me back on all food stages, 3-4 days at a time. So, I would be on Clear liquids for about 4 days after my fill, then 4 days of full liquids, soft foods, then solid. If your fill was done today, I would just drink liquids for a few days until the swelling has gone down. I wouldn't jump to get unfilled quite yet....especially if you can get down your fluids!! Good luck....

stress does make the band tight
I read about this somewhere else...maybe on this website, don't know!! Glad someone has verified it....I will have to pay more attention to it next time I am stressing out about something ).....Weird, huh?? Wonder why it would make it tighter!!!

Does this mean my port is leaking?
I had something similar to that....the fluid was coming out of my incision. Mine was a seroma, which is a liquid bruise. I was hoping that you had taken a pic of your leak. But anyways I freaked out and called my surgeon. He said not to worry, that it was common....gave me a script for an antibiotic just in case! I was told that if I was to get any infection, I would lose my band. So to be on safe side, he just gave me the antibiotic....Call your doctor!!

Radiating Pain After Fill
Does your doctor use fluoroscopy for your fills? I totally trust my doctor, and he uses the xray for all of his patients fills. If I were you I would go back for a fill. Make your appointment early in the morning....drink something before leaving office to make sure you are not overfilled before heading home. Good luck to you!

Weight Loss in the "mushy" stage
When I did a week of full liquids....while on vacation, I gained weight...I was so upset that this band was not going to work for me. Hang in there....the weight will start to come off!! You just need to be a little more patient! Good luck to you....

2nd fill down AND I lost!
I am so glad that my surgeon does his fills under fluoroscopy. I can't even imagine being poked like that....he hits the port on the very first try. I have had 2 fills now....Doc said the last fill should be it!! Good luck.....

Beginning week 4, loss stalled after starting mushies/solids
I went through the same thing as you are. When I hit full liquids, I was on vacation with my family...watched them eat out all week long and I freakn gained weight...I was in tears! It will come....I promise!! There is no need to return back to liquids....just make sure you are getting in your protein, taking your vitamins, drinking your fluids, etc. The weight will start coming off....just hang in there!! I have hit 60# in just a little over 4 months....Be patient and good luck!

Post Op Struggles
They are called Premier. They only come in chocolate, but they are so good. I now have my mother drinking them. I think you get about 18 of them in a case, they are premade...for about $18 or so. I am not crazy about powder mix....reminds me too much of medifast shakes....but I enjoy these premade ones. I try to at least drink one a day, and I know I can get at least 30 grams of protein in with food....then I get my 60 gr of protein in everyday....good luck

Post Op Struggles
I am confused as to what stage of food you are on. All doctors have different stages. I had 5 days of each food stage. I was not very hungry the first month or so. Protein shakes help alot, even now.....and I am 4 months out. The shakes that I buy are from costco, they have 30 grams of protein. It helps for hunger pains. Are you keeping yourself busy? I would just let your doc know that you are starving and ask him what suggestions he may have for you. Good luck!!

too little food
I am sorry....but you are not eating enough protein...You need to get at least 60grams of protein in everyday!! It is so important that you receive all of your nutrients. Otherwise, you can end up malnourished. Not enough protein in 2 eggs, and eggs are high in cholesterol. Try eating a yoplait greek yogurt....12g protein and 130 calories, no fat. Try some chicken....very high in protein. But I would definitely not continue eating what you are eating everyday....if you have questions about your food intake maybe you should consult your surgeon's office! I also drink Protein shakes....30g Good luck to you.....

Caloric Intake???
That is exactly what my surgeons nurse told me...I was in starvation mode, but for me, I was taking in 600-800 calories a day. I increased my exercise (mostly walking) and increased my food intake (mostly increasing protein) to about 1000 calories a day. And the weight loss began....I have now lost 48 pounds in 3 months....I average 2-4 lbs loss a week. Good luck!! Oh yea....buy yourself a pedometer. I never knew how many calories I burn just walking around my house, work, etc. One day I burned almost 900 calories!!

stuck
How weird....I also had steak tonight. Took 2 bites and I was stuck for about 15 minutes or so....and I actually threw up. Throwing up was a first for me...but boy what relief!! I skipped out on my steak and had a peanut butter sandwich! Being stuck like that is not a pleasant feeling!!! Glad I was in my own home....
