  1. I have recently noticed a lot more help from "gentelmen" too. Its weird. I didn't realize they were so nice. I almost never have to open a door anymore. I have to say I have to fight the urge to be angry at these men. Where were they 30lbs ago. I don't want to be an angry person so I just say thanks and keep walking... but was I invisible before?
  2. I have a male friend who is 7'3'' with a BMI somewhere in the 40s. Obviously he has to shop at the big and tall store. He refers to it as the fat and freakey store (kinda hard on the self image if thats where you shop). I just got into a 12 too !!!! Congradulations... I know you must feel great
  3. I'm almost 3 mos out now and I've been feeling so "normal" that yesterday, while washing my car, I decided to splurge and try a diet coke. I've never been a real soda drinker... but a diet coke every once in a while is nice. Anyway... first two sips were kinda nice.... then it was just groos to me. It was the bubbles I think. I just couldn't do it. Oh well. I like other stuff now :biggrin0:

okay... well... if you've been on the board for a while you probably know that every so often, even though my weight loss has been pretty good, I freak out and say I'm not loosing. Well. I'm freaking out again... but with a little pondering of the subject I have realized that my freak out posts probably belong here.... since they appear to be closleky tied to my cycle. 3 days before I start I feel fatter than ever and start to believe that I am a medical marvel and the sleeve will not work for me. So this time I'm onto the pattern. I've never been a 28 days kinda girl... It hits me whenever mother nature pleases... so I just wait. I've been feeling fat and unsuccessful for several days now... so I know whats comming.... but I could still use a few grounding words from my sleeve sisters. I'm almost three months out. At 2 mos I had lost 22 lbs and I weigh again on the 21st. I only weigh monthly because the scale makes me crazy. My goal has been 6 lbs per month. I tell myself If I can loose 6 lbs per month I'm doing good... If less I need to change something. If I make my 6lb goal on the 21st I will have lost 28 lbs in 3 mos. I wish I was loosing as fast as others... but I have to remember that I never could have lost this much pre sleeve. Anyway.... just a few "ata boys" would go a long way right now thanks stacey
  5. In a few months I'm going to be looking for your post on the NSV (non scale victories)thread that says how good it feels when you fly and fit comfortably in one seat !!!!! I'm sorry it sucks right now.... but this is the last time !!!!!
  6. I'm so happy for you. It was so unfair that you went through all that you did and didn't even have a sleeve. You won't be sorry !!!!
  7. You guys are awsome!!!! YOU DID IT !! I'm glad to hear your all doing well. Everybody goes at their own pace.... listen to your body and walk sip walk sip walk sip walk sip....... Your new life awaits you take care stacey
  8. Oregondaisy.... I think it was about 6 or maybe 7 weks ago you started kicking the ppi's .. I can't remember. If your bodys adjusting thats great. I have read that it can take up to 3 months. I can't remember now... how did you stop? did you cut down to every other day then every 3rd day or did you replace some doses with zantac??? I know you used gavascon a lot. any tips would be helpful. I have to wait 10 more weeks before I can try again... but I'd like to get off of them.
  9. I'm a recovering scale addict. I only allow myself once a month... it just makes me crazy if I do it daily, or even weekly. I wish I was one of those who can think logicvally around this issue.... some days its up.... some days its down.... but I'm just not. I let that number rule my world so about 2 months ago I went cold turkey... some days I white knuckle it...force myself to stay away from the scale at the gym... I had to take the batteries out of my home scale. All in all I think I'm saner on a day to day basis without it.
  10. don't let the hunger scare you. I was hungrey durring clears too. And a little on mushies. Once I got fully past all the post op diet stuff and started eating real food the hunger went away. Hang in there... your almost there.
  11. I'm so excited for you guys... your gonna do great!!!!!! The dieting is hard now but once you have surgery everything will be easier in that arena.... no feeling empty all the time..o insatiable hunger... no blood sugar dips... Once you get over those first hurdles of gas and swelling and all the crazy leak fears (I was a little paranoid and hypocrondriacle) life will be fabulous good luck stacey
  12. AMAZING.... what an awsome chic.
  13. WOW... you should be so proud of yourself. I know you have worked hard. I don't think 30.5 lbs in 9 weeks is slow though... especially for a lightweight. Good job:thumbup:
  14. CONGTATULATIONS!!!! if you feel this good now... imagine a year from now You'll be unstopable
  15. I was a little scared at first too... I started with oatmeal that I cooked to death.... very very mushy. Just go slow. Take a small bite and let it set. Once you get going you'll be fine. Just limit yourself to about 2 oz. I didn't measure.... but I uderstand its better to measure out 2oz to be safe. Once you get a feel for how much you can eat you can ditch the measuring. Once I got going it was heavenly to have some real sustanance. My favorite was 1/4 baked sweet potatoe, a bit of cream, and some
  16. Well Jillian.... its official.... my broccoli days are over. I had some last night with my cod fillett, prepared my favorite way, and it actually made me a little ill. I guess its squash and green Beans for me now. Its okay though... I like them as much as I used to like broccoli. Cake, cupcakes don't sit well in my sleeve. However, the icing does just fine. Cheesecake sticks pretty good, and I can only eat a small portion. awe Tiff... cake was my FAVORITE food pre-op. I loved it like a little kid at a birthday party. Sometimes I would go to safeway and buy one of those single pieces for no reason... just because I loved it. I havent tried it post sleeve, but its probably just as well that it may not sit so good. I havent really tried any bread products other than crackers, but I have found that wheat thins slide right down... I dont keep them around. I'm a big fan of the Peanut Butter too Jillian. Sometimes I just don't get enough to eat... I forget.. gt busy ets.. (something that NEVER happend pre sleeve). I don't realize I need to eat till I start to get brain fog and a tablespoon of peanut butter (no sugar all natural) is a great quick fix. As people have stated.... most filling for me is a meal that consists of mostly lean meat and a little veggies. I marinate chicken breasts in freska and low sodium soy sause and have that with some asparagus or steamed spinach.... sticks like glue for hours.
  17. okay... I feel kinda weird posting this but I cant stop thinking about it. I feel like I was a little rude in this response. I was just trying to say that sometimes I forget that I'm in charge.... especially when it comes to doctors and authority figures. I wasn't trying to give any sort of snide comment to anyone. maybe it didn't come across like that, but when I re-read it I though it sounded kind of rude. Sorry guys. thanks stacey
  18. I was really scared to tell my PCP... I think it was just because I was so scared about the surgery I didn't think I could handle any negativity. I also figured there would be some kind of bias or stereotyping regarding mexico. finally I remembered that I'm a grown up and I choose who my doctor is. If I was unhappy with her response I could always get another doctor. I told her the week before and she was great. she said she had several patients that had done the same thing and she felt it was a great option. She's seen me for a few little things since.... some acid problems... checked my incisions etc... She'll do my 3 month labs. At the end of the day we all need a doctor who is supportive and helpful... if yours isn't I would consider getting a new one.
  19. Jillian broccoli was my favorite veggie post op. I had it every night... sometimes steamed... sometimes broiled with sea salt... I couldn't get enough. I have had it one time since surgery, I think at about 4 or 5 weeks. I could eat it but I didn't enjoy it like I used too. Now I enjoy sauteed zucchini and mushrooms or some steamed collard greans. They just go down a little easier. I've bought some broccoli a few times since then but just never got around to eating it. I think I'm just not a broccoli girl anymore.... but I still love my other veggies.
  20. you guys keep us posted on your stalls. Its scary for all of us to think that a stall could last 7 or 8 weeks. We'll all be waiting to hear when it finally breaks. Hang in there ps.... reading this thread almost sent me running to my scale in a panick.... I'm going to hang tough though and not way till my 3 month mark!!!!
  21. I have been watching the tickers of the people who got sleeved on or around the same time I did. One thing I noticed is that even though we all ave different amounts to loose our tickers move at almost exactly the same rate. that is.... at 2 months we were a little over a quarter of the way... at one month just under. I think somewhere between month 3 and 4 we will all be half way. They are loosing much more weight but we all seem to be loosing the same percentage of our body weight. Its frustrating though.... especially when I see people posting that it may get even slower than this. YIKES....
  22. I'm loosing pretty slow I had 55 or so lbs to loose when I had surgery. I don't. I only weigh once a month because the scale makes me insane... but I can tell this month is going to be a real low number. I do think exercise really helps though. Also... I suppose you could go hard core low carb if your really in a hurry. It seems like those guys loose pretty fast... I just cant sustain the low carb thing... no energy.
  23. Its so normal to want what you want. There's no way you could be a healthy 20 year old and not want to have a boyfirend or have people look at you. Hell... I'm 44 and thats what I want. Hang in there.... life will change drastically when we emerge from our cuccoons.
  24. I ate refried beans at first and they just slid right down. I didn't keep real close tabs but I would bet that my diest was higher in calories durring the mushie stage than it is now. Mushies are just too easy to eat. Once you are all healed up and you are getting most of your protein from food you'll be fine. I can eat about 4 oz of chicken and some veggies and I am full and satisfied for hours (full to the point of not being able to get in another bite). I'm pretty sure I could eat 8oz of refried beans if I tried (over 20-30min).
