  1. I consumed a lot more calories when I was on mushies than I do now. That stuff just slides right down. Now I am careful to eat solid proteins and very few sliders. I am full pretty quick when I eat solid food. You may find the same thing to be true when you are able to eat solid food. On about day 10 (I was supposed to be on full liquids) I ate some cheese bread... just a couple of bites. I was so scared I had screwed it all up and I was certain that I had caused some damage. Lots of us worry about this kind of stuff but you'll probably be okay once you hit solids.
  2. yea for you!!!! your new life is waiting for you
  3. This is a total guess... so as always you're doctors advice is going to be the best. That said... it seems like at 10 days out, as long as you are listening to your body you should be able to do the stuff you are describing. I wouldnt push anything... once it starts to feel like a strain I would stop. This is not time to push through the pain. I think that being carful about lifting is a big deal because you don't want a hernia. I saw a great post on here and I wish I could remember who to credit.... but they said that your incision sites are a very good indicator of your staple line. If your incisions are looking strong.... like they could handle some pulling and twisting.... that's a good indicator of whats going on inside your body in terms of healing. Hope that helps Stacey
  4. Kicking up the carbs may be helpful. Boy.... my body just did a complete freeze at about three weeks. No matter what I did..... I think I have broken the stall but I don't know. I am not weighing because it was making me a little nuts. Its certainly a lot easier to make good choices now that I can have solid food. When I was stalled I was so tired.... I could barely exercise without wanting to faint or puke. It was like my body was just not willing to let go of any of its reserves for energy (and I have plenty to spare). Now when I exercise I can feel when my body kicks in and starts burning... so I think that means my furnace is going again. Not sure though... I just know I have to stay away from that scale if I want to stay sane. :scared0:
  5. My biggestr fear with the surgery was tht I would only be able to get a little bit of food in my stomach.... but my body would need more. I was often hypoglycemic if I went without food and I was worried that I would get low blood sugar and be unable to raise my glucose level. It was bad.... glucose would get so low that I would become disoriented and confused, uable to process information etc... I have had zero incidents of hypoglycemia since surgery. When I eat my 3-4 ounces of food... not only is my stomach full but I am SATISFIED!!!!! It truly is amazing. So glad I did it!!!!!
  6. whats gavascon..... it it otcit is the same as tums or rolaids.
  7. I took 2 weeks and frankly it was too much. I would have done better if I had been at work. Sitting around waiting to "heal" is no fun.... too much free time that I couldn't fill with food (old habits die hard). I would have been fine to go back after 5 days. I was still a little sore and swollen but I would have been happier at work (and I don't really like my job). I can be pretty sedentary at work if I need to be. I wish I hadn't used all my time up. Thats just me....... Stacey
  8. I'm so glad your feeling so good. My recovery was pretty easy too... just a little more sore than it sounds like you are. I just wanted to throw in to be careful about the exercise. Even though your feeling great you are still healing. Don't push it and follow you docs instructions. Most say just walking for a few weeks. You don't want to mess up your lovely surgery. Congratulations Stacey
  9. I'm so happy for you. Its such a good feeling when your body starts to feel a little strong again and you start to feel that life will get back to normal soon. great job Stacey
  10. Welcome Will!!!! I had quite a bit of pre-surgery anxity too. I'm not normally an anxious person... I managed a lot of my anxiety by making connections here. Keep posting stacey
  11. I guess I dont know.... I thought it had a lot more protein. When I compared to my regular yougart I thought it was almost twice. I'll have to check again. I'm looking for things to do with it??????? any ideas out there
  12. Yea!!! good for you. Its really true what people are saying.... it gets better every day. You'll be feeling great before you know it. I was dealing with gas till around day 6. It does go away though. take care stacey
  13. I had the same issue with BA Vitamins. I have found that if I mix them in a smoothie or protien drink I can tolerate them.
  14. Pain is always a good indicator. Of course you will have some discomfort but if it hurts don't do it. I was not able to drink much at all till about day 3... but by day 4 or 5 I could do quite a bit. You may just have a bit less swelling than some. I have plenty of restriction when it comes to food so don't worry to much about that. Water is great for the healing process.... keep up the good work Stacey
  15. ARGGGG... its just one thing after another. Lets just hope the fever thing is minor!!!!! Thanks for the update Stacey
  16. Theres a little all natural food store here in colorado springs called Mountain Mommas. Its very simmilar to whole foods.... maybe try them. Otherwise you might be able to get it online. good luck stacey
  17. Anna, I am still taking my ppi, but I plan to stop at 12 weeks. My understanding is we have to put up with a little rebound effect for about a week. It may be worth sticking it out. I don't know though because I haven't tried. When I do forget.... I get acid!!!!! Probably best to ask your doc. Stacey
  18. Anna, you contribute so much to this forum. I have learned so much from you and you are so kind in your delivery. I'm glad your here and.... WOW way to go on the weight loss, but more important.... way to go with the life changes. Stacey
  19. Yea.... its all up hill from here
  20. Intuitively.... it seems like we should get as much protein as we can from food. I am trying but its still hard. I still have days when liquids or mushies is about all I can do. I think short term the supplements are ok.... we just have to work toward real food.
  21. I was able to sleep on my side on day 5. It was glorious. I think with walking its more important to do it often then a long time. You'll be fit as a fiddle before you know it. Hang in there, it gets better Stacey
  22. I haven't given up on beer. I plan to give it my best shot once I reach goal.
  23. Yea Champ!!! Thats great news. I'm so happy for you. Please keep us posted Stacey
  24. I know your right.... I had the surgery for the same reason. I just want to let go of all this obssessing and crazy overthinking. This is a real test of my ability to "let go" the way I envisioned. I am setting a goal right now..... I will not weigh till my sleeveaversary on the 21st of June!!! These unhealthy ways of thinking are so programmed.... almost hardwired at this point. Thanks for your feedback guys Stacey
