  1. I use a curves gym on my lunch break from work. These are my thoughts Pros: Its efficient and works every muscle in your body in minimal time Its not a very intense work out so I can go back to work after Its All women Cons: At least at my gym... everyone wants to talk and its more social than working out. The music makes me crazy Most curves arent open on sundays If I want a "real" workout I go to my other gym.... It's just not that intense, but Its a good way to move my muscles durring the work day.
  2. I could take small pills at day 3 also. I felt it going down... but I could get it. I think some that have had more swelling have broken broken open the capsul or crushed the pill and taken it in a liquid form.
  3. Thanks for being our guinea pig swiftflow....its all good info. It looks like stalls just may be part of the package.
  4. by the way jillian... I'm curious about your weight loss. I was low bmi also... not as low as you but still low. Anyway... I hit a stall at about 10 days out and when it had lasted 2 weeks I quit weighing myself because I was going absolutly crazy. I can tell I've started loosing again but its real real slow. My cloths are looser... but not like massively. Anyway..... I'll be curious to watch your progress. are you weighing? are you watching carbs or just eating healthy and letting the sleeve do its work? stacey
  5. I started oatmeal at day 10. five days clear.... five days full... then I started oatmeal on my first day of mushies. mmmmmm it really hit the spot and make me feel satisfied and nourished like I hadnt felt in days. I get unprocessed oats... the kind that take 5 mins to cook because they are less processed. I cooked them for about 10 minutes in extra water so they were really mushy. mmmmmmm enjoy!!!!!!
  6. Well... I'm back on the PPI's for now. Yesterday.... I believe it was day 9.... i developed an aching sore throat. My doc had told me I could keep trying to kick the ppi's but as soon as my throat got sore I had to go back on. Now she says I have to stay on for about 3 mos before we can try again.... but next time she wants to try a weaning process.
  7. I'm alot colder than I used to be. I attribute it to my body being low on fuel. I haven't been hot yet....mybe your body just doesn't want to expend the energy to regulate your temperature
  8. I don't count carbs. I try to get all my protein from food sources and eat fruits and veggies. I'll eat some lentil or split pea soup... really complex carb stuff like that. Every now an then... just for fun, I will lay and bed and think "how many carbs did I really eat today" and when I add it up the amount is pretty small. Its just not physically possible to eat a lot of carbs and still get my protein. Now... if I was getting my protein from liquid shakes and drinks I could probably fit in a lot more carbs.... but thats one more reason to get protein from food (once your able)
  9. I have wondered the same thing. I drink soy milk because I always have and I like the taste.... but when you do a comparison of nutrition facts its hard to figure. I always get the unsweetned unflavored kind. I imagine that soy would be better for those with lactose problems. Also... I wonder about the difference between milk protein and soy protein. I'll be curious to see what others post.
  10. It would be so nice to get rid of my turkey gobbler.
  11. Ahhh.... goodlife.... you were my great hope. I thought you were off them all together! Called doc today and she says do zantac every other day. Have had almost no issues today.
  12. You'll love Dr Rod and his team.... they are awsome. I just had a regular sleeve with a 38 bougie (per my request).... he usually uses a 32. I don't really know what the super sleeve is, but I am very happy with my "regular sleeve"
  13. I would absolutly stay on them if your doctor wants you to. I hope... that when doctors give the go ahead... this thread will help people know what to expect. take care stacey
  14. Well Angie... you know my stall story. I'm so much happier since I ditched the scale. Don't make yourself crazy!!!!! Just be sure to get in your Protein. If you feel like I felt there was absolutly no way I could eat more than 800 calories in a day even if I started eating when the sun came up and didn't quit till bed time. Once your on solid foods it will be easier to tweak your diet. Dense protein really fills you up. I don't think there was anything I did that broke my stall (I can tell its broken because of how my cloths fit). I just had to wait till my body was done freaking out. I'm sorry your going through it though because I know it is sheer hell. And its true what they say... if you have less to lose you will lose slower. tip: the way I was able to ditch the scale was I got some Ketone strips. The reason i was an obsessive scale whore was because I constantly had to check to see if what I was doing was "working". I check my ketone level every morning and every morning my ketone strip turns pink. As long as thats the case I know I'm burning fat, thats all I need to know... no matter what the scale says (at this point the scale is just giving us info about the weird things our body is doing with Water to try to combat its new circumstances). Those little strips have been really helpful in my letting go of scale whoredome. Its never happened yet... but the day my strip doesnt turn just a little pink... I'll lower my carbs. (I guess now I'm a ketone stip whore) Take care.. your doing great Stacey
  15. I put some audiobooks on my ipod..... I loved just looking out the window and being "read" to.
  16. Hi guys.... my ears were burning I left an accounting of my experience with Dr rod on the Aceves vs Rodriguez thread. I didin't get the "super sleeve" though. I did have a "special request" for a little larger bougie due to low bmi and he was happy to oblige. He usually does a 32 but he did a 38 for me. Probably no real difference but it made me feel better. The sleeve is great.... I know its scary to think about cutting out part of your stomach. I had vivid nightmares about my stomach being ripped out of me after I made my decision. Its the best thing I have ever done for myself. I would trust my life to dr rod.... oh wait.... I did. P.S. I hear the Juarez Hospital is nicer than TJ... hard for me to imagine, but thats the word on the street. I'll try to answer any questions as you approach your date. Take care Stacey
  17. Thats fabulously brilliant Lilly!!!!!! Your doing great
  18. Day 6 :bored0:A little twinge after eating Day 7 :scared:Yikes Its back :smokin:. Not as bad as day from hell but its there:cool4:. Got some Zantac and now I'm better. From all my reading it appears that Zantac has about a 10 day rebound period while ppi's can be 2-3 mos. I'll see how things are tomorrow, but I may try to do every other day of Zantac. I will call doc tomorrow :phone2:to report the increase and get her thoughs on my Zantac plan. She really wants me off the PPI's as I am at risk for osteoporosis and ppi's inhibit the absorption of diazapam..... a medcation that I need periodically.
  19. Well... I have a few minutes now. I figured I'd post out here instead of PM in case anyone is interested. I absolutly loved Dr R and his team. I met with him and Dr Elmo before surgery and they were very nice and informative and listend to my concerns. Dr Rod and at least one other doc checked on me every day I was there. They did a lot to put me at ease as I was super scared. I have heard that the hopsital in Juarez is nicer than the one in TJ. Thats hard to imagine as I have never seen a cleaner, better staffed hospital in my life. All of the doctors and about 50% of nurses spoke english. The only thing I didn't know about before hand was that I needed $30 american for my meds. I only had a credit card so my coordinator paid for them and I mailed her a check later. It would have been nice to have around 20 pesos to take with me to the hotel to tip the guy that carried my luggage and to order some broth from room service. I brought a bunch of movies downloaded from Itunes on my computer and some audio books on my ipod. I was glad for that as only a few english channels were available. I have had a few follow up questions since being home and have e-mailed my coordinator. She has gotten back to me with the doctors response withing 24 hours. You can also e-mail Dr Rod directly, I just got kinda chumy with my coordinator. Honestly..... if it hadn't been for the surgery.... I would say i had fun. I had a very easy recovery but I do remember being pretty miserable those first 2 or three days. As everyone says..... sip walk sip walk repeat. Please don't hesitate to ask if you have questions. take care Stacey __________________
  20. I'm so glad to hear it. I cant wait for the day that you post that your wife loves her new body and her sleeve. I imagine she has already lost a significant amount. A new and healthy life is waiting for both of you.
  21. I was very happy with Rodriguez. I was at INT hosital and went through Joann at belight. I felt I got excellent care and my PCP here agrees. I'm at work now but I can give you more info later.
  22. I want to go out with my girlfriends on the weekends and not be the "fat chic" I want to wear whatever I want I want a boyfriend....maybe I want to be un-obsessed with my next diet I can't wait great thread!!!!
  23. I lost 13lbs in the first 2 weeks after surgery then nada for 2 weeks. Every day I would get on the scale and every day the scale would tell me I was a failure. :biggrin0: Finally.... I got rid of my scale. I am no longer such a failure. There's no way, with as little as we eat, that if we make reasonably good choices, we wont loose weight. Even though I wish I could loose faster... stepping on the scale wont speed things up. I plan to weight once a month and am working on my sanity. Hang in there.... Stacey
  24. Yea... I hear what you guys are saying...it concerned me too to have this much acid this early out. My doc says that I can handle a week or so of acid but if it hasn't dramatically decreased after 7 days I should consider going back on. The thing is.... I have already made it through my "fires of hell" day so I want to keep going. I'm hoping that since I have been on the ppi's a shorter period of time maybe my rebound will resolve quicker. Oregondaisy.... I know gaviscon... but do you know what other types of acid reducers don't cause rebound. Is tagament only by perscription? how is it different from gaviscon. I started drinkin Aloe Vera juice today. Its supposed to sooth the esophagus and regulate PH. So far today I had a little tinge after lunch but it went away after eating a ginger chew.
  25. Sorry to hear about your struggle.... have you tried drinking aloe vera juice (injestable type only) ? It sooths the esophagus and is supposed to restore normal PH in your stomach.
