At the halfway point!
I am finally at my halfway point For me, this has been a slow process and I have been waiting patiently for the past 4 weeks to lose that one more pound that put me at the half way point. I'm looking forward to the rest of my journey! Just wanted to share.

surgery wed and chickening out!!
Stop and think about all the benefits from getting the band and why you wanted to do it in the first place.

Help! Don't know what to do :(
I find if I don't drink enough, dehydration causes my band to be tighter. Make sure you're getting plenty of fluids. Good luck.

Hypo-Thyroidism and Weight Loss....?
I have hypothyroidism as well. Sometimes I think that is the reason for my slower weight loss. On my 2 week pre-op liquid diet I only lost 6 lbs. I am very happy with my progress so far, but it seems like I'm slower than a lot of folks. I have recently added exercise - 3x/wk and am hoping that kicks up my weight loss. So far tho, I've been exercising for 4 weeks and have not lost anything. I've been keeping my calories between 1,000 - 1,200 / day.

This thing really works!
Congratulations on your success!

BCBS-AZ Anyone? How long to approve?
I had BCBS (not Az) and they came back within 2 days! I was super excited and scheduled my surgery as quickly as possible. Good luck! It's been the best decision ever for my weight loss.

When did you see a difference?
OK - I have been working out for 4 weeks now, doing cardio 30-60 minutes 3x / week and some strength training but still have not lost a single pound! I have been tracking my food and exercise on myfitnesspal.com and keeping between 1,000 - 1,200 calories / day. According to that program I should be losing 2 lbs a week. Really? I don't understand this, but I'm not giving up.

explaining I cant eat the way i used too..
We tend to collect a lot of doggie bags in our fridge now. :rolleyes2: I can sometimes make 2 or 3 meals out of one. Or, my hubby gets a lot of leftovers. Anyway, I just try to accomodate him and order what works for me.

Problems Eating Certain Foods
No scrambled eggs for me either. I was able to eat them until about my 3rd fill. I'm glad to read on here I'm not the only one who can't eat them. However, hard boiled eggs are not a problem.

Am I being greedy?
My doc recommends 1-2 lbs / week.

Advice: Need to tell my boyfriend about the Band...
I would tell him. At some point he's going to ask about the scars. Also, you don't want to go into a potential marriage with secrets. Better to get it out in the open now.

When did you see a difference?
Thanks for the advise. I'm going to just keep going and hope eventually things work out. I agree - muscle looks better than fat!

Bodybugg users report here!
Can someone help clue me in on this body bugg? I went to the website but couldn't really see much because I don't have an account. How much is it and how much is the monthly fee?

When did you see a difference?
I'm gonna keep on pushing myself. I know it's just a matter of time before the scale moves. I feel like when I'm in the gym, I'm giving 100%. I know I sweat more than I ever have - I guess that's good :frown: I do feel like I can tell a difference in my clothes. Also over the last couple of days, I've gotten comments on how much weight I'm losing.

Turned away for cheating
I stuck strictly to my pre-op diet and did not eat one crumb of food. I was so disappointed when I got to the surgery center the day of surgery to find out I only lost 6 lbs in 14 day! The doctor told me that it was okay because everyone loses differently and the only reason for the pre-op was to shrink the liver to make it easier on him to do the surgery. So, hang in there - you should be fine.

calories are calories?
I have heard it is better to eat 5 small meals because it keeps your metabolism moving. Otherwise, your body might think it's starving and store calories.

Christmas Challenge
I'm in! I'd like to lose 12 lbs by Christmas. I think that's achievable.

Work brought in lunch....UGHHH
Don't beat yourself up over it. That's part of everyday life. Just be sensible - like you were.

When did you see a difference?
OK - I have been going to they gym 3x/wk and working out at least 45 minutes of cardio and adding in some strength training with it and have not lost 1 pound! I don't get it. I am keeping my calories anywhere between 900 - 1200 / day. Any ideas?

Post-op hiccups normal?
I hiccup about 3 times after I eat. That's my sign not to eat anymore

Social drinking and lap band
I went on an all-inclusive trip to Mexico about 4 weeks after my surgery and drank alchol with no problem. I must admit, I drank more than I should have, but it didn't hurt me. I still lost about 5 lbs that month.

Regret getting rid of smaller clother
Trish - I was banded by Dr McEwen as well. When we leave his office, we head over to the Carmel Goodwill. They have some very nice clothes there. Probably the best Goodwill I've been to.

Muscle Milk
I sometimes stop at the gas station on the way to work and buy one out of their fridge. They have 25 grams of protein. They are a lot more expensive than buying the kind you mix, but it is easier. Since my band won't allow me to eat until about noon, I can drink the shake.

Wooohooo! No longer morbidly obese.
Congratulations!
