  1. Lose the scale and be happy with how you look and how your clothes fit!
  2. Ultimately, this is your decision. If you've done your research and feel comfortable with your decision then stick with it. Tell your Aunt she needs to do some more research before causing everyone to get upset and worried. I agree with Betsy's comments above.
  3. I struggled early on as well. As I got more fills, I got restriction. I remember being able to eat just about anything, now I can barely get 4 oz down in one setting. Hang in there, it'll happen.
  4. Congratulations! That is amazing and I am very happy for you. It's also nice to know you can get rid of those bigger size 12's and 14's LOL!
  5. My doc encourages exercise, but understands that in the beginning you may not want to. He said after you lose 40-50 lbs you'll want to start doing more. I think he's right!
  6. I was happy to see how well Tina did after she went home and the progress her daughter is making. I like the new theme "Pay it Forward".
  7. I have FEP BCBS and they approved me right away without question. I had Humana a couple years ago and got denied. I think BCBS is a little quicker to approve. Good luck to you!
  8. I called my doc and the receptionist said I was the the 1st case she has heard of setting of the metal detector. I go back in for my next visit next week and I'll make sure I get a card to carry with me. I have flown a few times since the surgery and haven't had any problems. I think the detectors at the court house was set on a very high sensitivity. I don't think the doc left anything "extra" in me during the surgery because they do x-rays the following morning.
  9. It wasn't the bra and when they scanned me with the wand, it was in my stomach area.
  10. Drink lots of water and try to focus on anything but food. Keep yourself busy. That's what helped me.
  11. I just went to a Federal Courthouse and had a really hard time getting into the building. My whole mid-section kept lighting up and setting off the system. After 5-6 tries and wand scans I mentioned I had surgery several months ago and they said that was probably it. They also suggested my doctor do an x-ray to make sure they didn't leave anything inside. Has this happened to anyone else?
  12. Congratulations! Keep up the good work!
  13. Western Indiana - Director of Sales for a manufacturing company.
  14. Get up and walk around as much as possible. The pain is minimal and will go away. Enjoy the new life style changes! Congratulations on your decision.
  15. I thought I would celebrate being in onederland more than I actually did. It was great to reach that magic number on the scale, but I found dropping 2 sizes in my jeans much more rewarding. It's funny how the number on the scale doesn't necessarily correlate to the size of your body. Hang in there and enjoy the non-scale values as well!
  16. I think some of the men on the show need to wear "man bra's" LOL
  17. Don't get too frustrated, each person is different. My weight loss was very slow in the beginning, but now that I finally have good restriction, it's starting to kick in. I'm almost 10 mos post-op. Good Luck!
  18. Unfortunately our young lady got voted out last night. It was sad that she did not have the support system at home to help her. She looks like she is doing very well on her own (and help from Danny from last season). I hope she continues to do well.
  19. I am the same way. I can sometimes drink a protien shake around 10am, but normally can't eat until sometime after noon. My doctor says this is very typical once you reach good restriction. My daughter also had Lap-Band 3 years ago, and she is the same way.
  20. I would also question the number of cc's he says he's putting in. He may be doing gradual cc's such as .2 or .3 rather than a full cc. My doctor will only fill 4-6 weeks, this gives you time for the swelling to go down and be able to get on solids withing throwing up. Good Luck!
