  1. I rediscovered salads last week and really enjoyed it because that the first meal in a long time I didn't have a problem with. Since my 3rd fill, I have a difficult time eating without getting stuck. So, I was really happy when I decided on a salad the other day for lunch
  2. Congratulations on being overweight! What a nice milestone to reach!
  3. I am in the slow losers club too, but that's okay. I would like to see more weight loss, but I understand this is a lifestyle change. At least the lbs are going down instead of up:) I have had 3 fills and since my last fill on 5/18, I have not been able to eat much. I am very tight in the morning and can't eat until at least noon. I seem to have pushed out my eating schedule. I know eating later in the evening is not good. I guess it's all part of the adjustments I am making in my life.
  4. I think sometimes you just hit a wall and stop losing. Keep doing what you're doing, it will come off. Mine has been slow and I had a point for a month I didn't lose anything. I have had 3 fills now and getting restriction. But, I still am not losing at the rate I want (2 lbs / wk). But, I am still losing so I'm trying to stay positive. Just remember... we are not gaining!!! Hang in there!
  5. I am 4 mos post-op as well and have only lost 30 lbs. Everyone is different. I have my 3rd fill on 5/10. Hoping this will kick-start the weight loss a little more.
  6. For those of you who have family members or co-workers who constantly ask how much you've lost, I simply tell them "I don't know. I have put my scales away and am only getting weighed at the doctors office monthly." Most people are satisfied with that answer and don't ask me all the time.
  7. My doc says 24 hrs after fill, clear liquids only. Then on to protien shakes for 2 days. Then mushies.. and so on. He was okay if I wanted to stay on protien shakes up to 5 days. This is just to make sure the swelling has gone down.
  8. Congratulations on your success! I hope I do as well as you have!
  9. I am obsessed with the scales too! Last month I weight myself everyday and was up and down 2-3 lbs. When I went to my doc for my 2nd fill, I was exactly the same for 1 full month! I decided then that I would put my scales away and only get weighed at the doctors office monthly. Since then I actually feel lighter and my clothes are getting looser. Granted, it helped getting a fill because I can tell I'm not eating as much, but I am not stressing everytime I get on the scales. I suggest putting your scales in a box and taping it up so it is not easy to get to! GOOD LUCK!
  10. WAY TO GO!!! Congratulations on your success! I'm a couple pounds away, but hope to be right there with you very soon!
  11. adagray - My surgeon told me the same thing. My daughter has been banded for 2 years now and she said she is never hungry. I can't wait to get there! I've only had 2 fills so far.
  12. I was open with my co-workers. Most of them have been very supportative and a few just curious and asked a lot of questions. I do find they ask me how much I've lost "alot". So, now I just respond with it's a slow process and I've decided to put my scales away, so I just don't know anymore. Good luck! Embrace your decision and don't let anyone else ruin it for you!
  13. I lost 12 lbs post-op before my first fill. Then.... I came to a sudden halt and did not lose any weight the next week :smile2: I think most of the problem is making the adjustments in my lifestyle and food choices. I found that I couldn't eat as much as before and would quit eating when I was full, but my food choices and grazing throughout the day hurt. I just had a 2nd fill this week and am determined to keep my eating under control. I have made a goal to lose 10 lbs before my next fill. I have also made a decision to put my scales away and not weigh myself until I go back to the doctor. I found myself weighing every day and it would get very discouraging seeing the lbs go up and down all the time. Hopefully, this helps!
  14. I've decided to abandon my scales! I have gone 1 month without losing any weight and I think it's because I step on the scales everyday. Up and down the same 2-3 lbs. It's very frustrating. So, I've committed to only get weighed when I go to the doc for a fill. I just had a fill yesterday and go back on May 10th. Wish me luck! I think the scales are stressful and evil sometimes! :smile2:
  15. My doc recommends clear liquids for 24 hrs after a fill, then protien shakes for 2 days. Then start on mushies before moving on to regular foods.
  16. LOL! Duct tape works for everything doesn't it
  17. Sign me up for 10 lbs! I'm excited to participate in my first challenge!
  18. Congratulations on your success! You look fantastic! Keep up the good work.
  19. I have only been banded since January, but feel 100x better. Not only because I am losing weight (slowly) but overall feel wonderful. I no longer have the "over-stuffed" feeling after eating, because I only eat until I'm satisified. So far I have no regrets! Good luck on your decision.
  20. I understand where you're coming from. My problem is eating the wrong things!!! I know I shouldn't eat the "bad" stuff, but sometimes I still eat out of boredom. Today I decided to go back on liquids until I can drop about 5 lbs and break thru my yo-yo 2 lbs since my fill on 3/8. I go back for my 2nd fill on 4/7 and hope I've lost something!
  21. I had my first fill on 3/8 and don't have any restriction. I've keep losing and gaining the same 2 lbs. Very frustrating! I go for another fill 4/7. Hope this helps some. My doc will only fill 1cc per month, so it can take awhile to feel the restriction
