  1. it is from the tube that they put in your mouth during surgery. My pain lasted about 2-3 days. I have read the pain is normal.
  2. Hi - -today is my 2 weeks also!! I feel pretty good now, I went back to work this week, had pretty decent energy and then....not so much.. Oh well, the weekend is here, I am adjusted to the diet. My 1st appt with my surgeon isn't until week 6!!!! He really wants us to go through bandster hell!! I have lost 12 pounds in the past 2 weeks, hope i can keep some of this up for a few more weeks!!! How are you doing? Lauryn.
  3. Hi, I LOVE bicycling and I owe it to bicycling that I got the LAP-BAND®. My husband and I bought hybrid bicycles last spring. I struggled to keep with him because I had to haul my extra 80 (hmmm--125) pounds. In spite of that, I saw the amount of calories I burned, and I saw the tone in my legs starting to take place. Since then, hubby has bought a Trek, and is doing 60 - 100 mile rides, and i have the LAP-BAND®!! I knew I could never do any of these rides (too many hills, and too long) at my current weight. I was banded 2/12/10, now my goal is to do a ride with him this June - - I am already 25 pounds lighter than I was last year, so I can't wait for spring and riding again - -I hope to only enter the gym on weekends when it rains:lol:.
  4. In my pre-op talk with my surgeon, he said that there would most likely come a time that I would struggle and become too embarrassed / ashamed to come to the office for my regular appointment--but no matter how bad I was doing there were always people doing so much worse!!! We started this journey because we needed help, I don't think that will ever go away....go see your surgeon.
  5. MANY years ago I lost approx 86 pounds without any exercise. I was told to be sure to consume soy in my diet because the soy helps with the skin sagging. I did not have any excess skin. Now I am making sure that I use light vanilla soy milk in any Protein shakes or SF/FF puddings that I make. I have 100+ pounds to loose this time and hope the soy will help with any possible sagging skin. Lauryn
  6. In addition to my lap band, I had a hernia repair and liver biopsy done. I am 3 days post op and my worst pain is in the area of the incision done on my right side where the liver biopsy would have been done. It looks like the incision on the right side went inbetween some ribs....that might explain the pain. Amazingly, the least amount of pain (so far) is in the large incision where the port is. Wondering if this is normal and if any of you have the same experience. Lauryn
  7. Great question--I was wondering the same thing. I am walking and taking lots of Gas X - -this is helping some, but not with the gas under the rib cage, shoulder, etc.
  8. HI Belle, I was banded yesterday the 12th. I also had the hernia repair, OUCH!! I have all of the same pains and issues as you do, and get a lot of relief from my pain meds. I hope to get outside to walk a little today, because the gas is setting in!! I am also unable to pee - i feel like I could pop, but just a tiny little drip!! We will get through this!! Lauryn
  9. Hi I am Lauryn and am excited to have some buddies to go through this with!! #1. Surgery date? Feb. 12 th (early in the morning!!) #2. State you live in? TN #3. Doctor/Surgery Center? Woodman / Memphis, TN #4. Insurance or self pay? insurance about $1200 #5. Age and height 47 / 5'7" #6. Current weight and goal weight? 271 / 153 #7. What was your deciding factor for having this surgery? I am so tired of being HUGE!!! #7. Do you have the support of family and friends? I have incredible support from my husband and sister. Have not told any other family or friends and don't plan to. #8. Concerns and questions? I already have a feflux problem and and worried that this will make it worse. When I asked my surgeon if the band would make it worse he said--"I don't know, we'll find out:glare:
  10. I would love to hear from anyone that has been successful in loosing 100 + pounds. I need to loose 100-125...:cursing: I have read conflicting information about the weight lost with the band. Some say you will only loose 50% and then there are people that have lost 95% of their excess weight. Would like to know how long it took you to loose your weight and your percentage of weight loose is. Also, it would be great to hear what tips you have that made you successful. I will be banded Feb. 12th. Thanks so much for your advise and info!! Lauryn
  11. Bobbie, we will have to be "buddies" in this together!! Thanks!

Thanks for all of your future support and advise---I know I will need it! Lauryn
