Hi there everyone; took me a while to read through the posts! I love all the chatter. Great pics of everyone from the weekend, looks a great day. Tamra your little one is adorable. John, thanks for the heads up on the show...I am gonna watch it but I have my dvr set in case I fall asleep. I saw the shrink today and since I saw only 2 people in the room she passed me to move on...lol I didn't tell her you guys gave me the answer to that question. hahahaha I was bummed because I didn't get to see Liz today, they told me they would try but come to find out she's only there on mon/wed so I don't know why they said I would see her anyway but oh well. I have an apt with her on april 12th. Laurel, how you doing? hope your feeling good and the broth is helping your hunger. oh ya, lost another 5 lbs so down 25 since 1/26/10! Yippe.

Is this really gonna work?
eww, the visions I have in my head about slimming are not pretty! I am going to start working harder on getting used to chewing more and smaller bites so I will be ready as that sounds disgusting! lol

Why so much water
Does the 64 oz include the decaf coffee? I have trouble with that much water too but if I use the propel packets or some other sugar free low calorie flavoring to the water I have a much better time.

Laurel, you're going to do great! I will thinking about you and sending good thoughts your way. Let us know how your doing once you feel up to logging on. Looking forward to Saturday's group and hearing some great things from everyone. I left feeling very motivated after the last group. I am in need of the clothing exchange as I am moved down to a 22 and hopefully will be a 20 in the next couple weeks. I need some help with food; getting burned out on turkey patty and cottage cheese. I am not much a cook and have teenagers so if you have some receipes that will work for the family send them my way. If regular email is easier alibermudez@comcast.net Today I am going to make the yummy chili (and easy too) recipe that nicole gave me.

Sleeve vs. Band please help!
Chrissy, I was totally set on the band for a couple reasons, I thought losing the weight slower was heathlier, the surgery was less invasive, and there wasn't the nutrianal loss as in by-pass. Then when I found out Kaiser recently approved the sleeve I started looking into that and reading the difficulty people were having with fills/unfills I now have chosen the sleeve and do not want the band for the reasons I originally wanted it...it's felt weird to switch my mind as I was so set on the band but I feel grateful for the options that Kaiser gives us and I think I have made the right decision.

Good morning everyone! Tamara I feel your struggles; start today and throw out the bad food and keep focused. I had to stop buying the junk food otherwise I eat it....my kids are not happy think they are starving becuase there are no chips and cookies around but the eating healthier is good for them and they are not starving! In my conversation with Dr Park last week I was telling her how a couple of people I know that had bypass have gained weight back that I thought probably was because they drink alot. She said that many times the food addition gets transferred to some other additon after wls. I have been thinking about that and its helped me try to get a handle on eating as I realize its all an addiction and trying to break that addiction is hard but a key. I am not a drinker but I could see myself hanging out at the casino getting my addiction fix....lol jk! My big thought for the day. I see physc on Tuesday and hopefully Liz will see me the same day. I am going to push my surgery out a until middle of May as I am taking the 4 weeks off and that would put me out during my son's graduation in early June. Might as well time it so I can take advantage of the time off and save my vacation time. Laurel how you doing? getting nervous?

"Pre-Op"...BOY was I wrong!
Most of here are addicts...we've been food addicts and when you take away the food we use another addiction, in your case cigerattes! You are doing the right thing by admitting it and making yourself accountalbe. Keep using this board as a way to work through the addiction; once the nicotine is out of your system it will be better! Good luck!

John, That's awesome that you and your wife are renewing your vows...that is very special! How long have you been married? Are you done with the purree's? I got my lab results and they were good so probably will do the ekg Wednesday! Laurel, I am so excited for you! Your gonna do great. Did you attend cooking school in Paris? I know you said you love to cook but that is awesome. I don't really like to cook so I admire everyone that cooks and is good at it. I am hoping as some have said on here that they really enjoyed cooking after they were banded....I hope that happens to me! Great day everyone!

Hi everyone, Nicole, congratulations again. Your day sounds wonderful and a great weekend with the new hubby before he left--that is so cool. I went for nearly a 4 mile walk today along the Miners Ravine trail in Roseville, its so beautiful outside and it follows the creek so its great scenery. I feel a little less guilty for eating so much crab last night and the multiple jello shots I had....I stayed away from the pasta and bread but made up for it in crab and jello shots! lol. Does anyone know if you have to make an apt for the pre-op ekg? I did my blood work today but cardiology was closed. Not sure if I can just walk in and have the test done. Hey Laurel, how are you doing? Your getting so close.

Great things happening around the board this past couple days...lots of weight loss, wedding, job interviews, etc! Awesome news. John, I get kinds grossed out thinking about the pureed stage, I hope some of these ideas will work for you! I had a bad day today, all my usual food just did not sound appealing so took the boys out to dinner and I went to Habit Burger...got a burger wrapped in lettuce and even ate a few fries and onion rings. It was so good but I am miserable now...feel really guilty as well as bloated. I hope this is a good lesson for me to get back on track. I was able to reschedule my physc apt for the 23rd but they won't promise I can see Liz that day, not sure why, but I am hoping it works out. They ordered my labs and ekg and said I could do those here in Roseville so that makes me happy! Everyone continue working hard! Nite, nite.

Great Laurel! You are progressing and the next few days will hopefully move fast. I had to cancel my physc apt tomorrow as everyone in the office is out so I can't be gone too! I left them a message and I hope they get it and call me with a new date. I really want to get a physc/case mgr apt on the same day--I hate missing so much time at work. Are they good about returning calls for rescheduled apts?

John, 100 pounds in a year! That is absolutely fabulous. Since I am new I don't know your history but from the couple band failures you had it looks like you finally are on the road to a tool that works for you. That is so awesome. Pureed foods sound absouletly disgusting to me...i think the earlier stages sound so much better. Make sure and pass any great reciepes along...lol oh, and Dr Park is going to be my surgeon.

Hi everyone! I'm back from Richmond and meeting Dr. Park. It was a great visit and Dr Park was very informative. She was pleased with my loss thus far--down 20 since orientation and she is moving me forward through the process as long as each visit I am losing. I was able to get a phsyc apt for this Thursday. Liz wasnt in today to schedule with her. I really want to do those 2 apts on the same day as it would be so much easier than traveling back and forth since I am coming from Sac. They are going to talk with Liz tomorrow and maybe they will reschedule it for a time when I can do both. Oh, and I have decided to do the sleeve procedure. I didn't want to do such an invasive procedure but the trips back and forth to Richmond would be such a hardship that I think in the long run this is a better way for me. Thanks Lee and John for your help. John, I am still going to give you a call, I just got tied up yesterday enjoying the sunshine. I am thankful that I found this group as your words, talk, advice, and support have been a big help for me. I hope you guys let me stick around this chat room.
