  1. Ash that is so awesome! That's a nice car! 9I need a green with envy smiley here) Cole, I live in Citrus Heights also...and I see the docs at the Riverside Kaiser....small world. We will have to get together for some walks. I like to go up to Roseville and walk along the trails behind Sam's Club...we will need to meet. As long as you don't mind old people--Im 48! lol I hope you all have a great fathers day!
  2. Tamara, Ash, Candra, Pam and all you other "losers" (lol)...you are doing great! This weather really helps and it if stayed like this we would all be so happy...not looking forward to the heat! Cole, I started here going for the lap band and then after doing research on all the boards switched to the sleeve. It's all a personal choice and each is good and bad for many reasons. I like Ash's idea of reading all the different boards...the good and the bad...none are perfect and go with your instict. Ask us all, we all love to share opinons.
  3. cole, how did your apt go today?
  4. Wow, great news on here today! Tamara, so proud of you...you really worked hard for that fill and its nice to see you rededicated to the journey! Congrats! April, you are doing awesome! It's nice to see you post on here, I have met you at group but don't see you on here that much. You did an awesome job last month sharing your story. I think Richmond will contact you once they get the referral. If I remember correctly it took a couple weeks... Keep happy everyone!
  5. Sherri, good luck on Tuesday. You really moved through the process fast--you only went to orientation in May? You're doing excellent on your pre-surgery weight loss. Keep up the motivation! Whoo Hoo!
  6. Pam, that is so awesome! It is such a good feeling when people notice. I now think about all the times when I noticed that people had lost weight and I never said anything...I should have said something because now I know how good it feels to hear that. You have worked hard and deserve the compliments! Hope Chrissy is doing good tonight! Who's up next for surgery?
  7. Thinking about you Chrissy! I know you will check in as soon as you can and give us all the details!
  8. Yeppers, finally hit the 60 pounds lost mark....I couldnt get past 59 for days.......that makes 27 pds lost since surgery on 4/26. Things are really slowing down in the weight loss but I recommitted to my excercise so I can try to keep it at at least 2 pds a week.
  9. Sixty!! Can you say sixty!!! 60...60...60...60...60...60...60...60...60...60...60...60...60...60...60...60...60...60...60...60...60...60...60...60...60...60...60...60...60...60...60...60...60...60...60...60...60...60...60...60...60...60...60...60...Sixty!!Sixty!!Sixty!!Sixty!!Sixty!!Sixty!!Sixty!!Sixty!!Sixty!!Sixty!!Sixty!!Sixty!!Sixty!!Sixty!!Sixty!!Sixty!!Sixty!!Sixty!!Sixty!!Sixty!!Sixty!!Sixty!!Sixty!!Sixty!!Sixty!!Sixty!!Sixty!!Sixty!!:sigh::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::tongue::thumbup::laugh::thumbup:
  10. Welcome Becca, I am in Citrus Heights and my surgery was in Richmond. I think there are a few SSF people here but most have been to Richmond and many from Sacto area. Have you come to support group? We meet the 4th Saturday of each month at the Kaiser on Point West. The group is for Kaiser and non-Kaiser and all surgery types. the next meeting is the 26th @ 11...hope to meet you there. Cleaning the closet is wonderful; I have had no issues with getting rid of the clothes and I have even had to hand me down clothes that were handed down to me...its a very rewarding feeling. Good luck with your pre-op diet; it worked good for me and I wish you sucess also.
  11. Hi Cole, I don't have small children anymore but I understand your concern. My second child was delivered by c-section and the orders for that were the same...nothing heavier than a phone book for four weeks...even though it was hard it worked...either my husband sat the baby in my lap or I would sit next to him on the couch or floor! Its just the lifting that's a concern. I forgot how old your daughter is but she can crawl up in your lap and she would probably have fun doing it! Go for it!
  12. Hi everyone, especially to all the newcomers that have joined us over the last couple weeks. So many getting ready for surgery--that is exciting. I have been celebrating my son's HS graduation this week and just got back from chaperoning his grad trip to Disneyland...a crazy fast trip but so much fun. Chaperoned 104 seniors--we left midnight Tuesday returned this morning at 7 am. I am so exhausted. Had dinner at the Blue Bayou, the resturant in Pirates. I had been planning that outing for a long time so I threw my food choices out the window but the good ol sleeve did its duty and didn't let me eat much but what I ate was supper yummy. I even treated myself to a scoop of ice cream. I hope that with the miles and miles of walking we did I didn't do any harm to weight. I will see in the AM! Graduation was the first time many of my family had seen me in a while and they were all very complimentary on my weight loss...it made me feel good. My goal was to be down 50 by graduation and I was at 58 pds total lost...Next year my other son graduates and I hope to be at my final goal weight by his graduation! We will see. off to catch some zzzzz's
  13. Hi Cole and welcome to the board. Congrats on seeing Dr Park soon; she was my surgeon and she is very good. I use the weight on orientation day as my starting weight and my weight loss is all from that weight. Where do you live and what type of surgery are you planning? Many on here have had the lap band but us sleevers are in here too! Wow, Nichole that sounds yucky! Nothing like a little pbing to get you back and track. Good choices! It was a hot mf weekend and my food choices have not been the best...having mommy anxiety with my oldest gradutating on Tuesday...he's been by my side for 18 years and it's really hard for me to let go. I need to get out of this sadness and get to the happy mode. TTYL
  14. Ash, I am so sorry you are dealing with that! Coughing with the incisions is painful so you must really be feeling it! I hope that with rest and more fluids this passes quickly. I had my post op apt yesterday with Dr Park. She was very happy with my loss and gave me glowing marks! She said that the wieght loss will slow down now but they are seeing sleeve patients continue to lose a pound a week for up to two years! Yeah, I had no idea that it could continue that long. I hope it does for me since I have such a big number to lose. Now that I have the go ahead I need to step up the excercise. Waiting to get started until after next week when my oldest is graduating HS. After graduation we get on a bus midnight for a Grad Trip to Disneyland, and I am chaperoning! I can't wait sit in a ride and fit! Last time I was there I was so uncomfortable. Welcome to the new people...lots of good info on here so stick around. Good luck to the ones approaching surgery.
  15. Ash, sorry your sick...Wow, its weird how different the plans are...we are told a 1/4 cup. There is no way I could have eatten 1/2 cup, that would even be hard for me now to get that much in. I don't think I could have gotten a protein shake down either, to filling. All different schools of thought I guess. Follow the plan the best you can but listen to your body. I still rarely can get 64 oz of water done, I try try try but unless I stay up until midnight I can only get about 50 oz. This is an awesome weekend! All enjoy it.
  16. Having the apt next week is good--keeps you working it through the long weekend. Pam, I know what you mean. I need to find something this weekend to keep me busy or I will have the same problem. I have my follow-up with Park on Wednesday so I am trying for a good excerise weekend so I will have shown good progress my first month post op. Quiet at my work too!
  17. I love that..."are you thriving today?" that is a awesome! That should at least put a smile on thier face!
  18. Tam, hope you get the apt that works for you. I know its so tough scheduling these things with crazy work and school schedules. Ash, I felt that way also. I think its has to do with your stomach being irritated and the feeling of hunger vs. gas. Stay to your portions and let your stomach heal. Sip small in between your meals. Iwould eat a SF popsicle if I still felt like I could eat something after having my "liquid food". I still feel like I could eat more food than the portions, I don't tend to get that over full feeling unless I drink soon after eating. I don't have any problems with eating any types of food thus far ie cold, hot, spicy, etc. Hope it stays that way.
  19. I went to EcoThrift on Greenback in Citrus Heights. I think they have a couple stores. They often have a sales with discounts off the tag price; the pants were like 3.98 and they were 75% off. Couple of the pants were marked 99 cents...I am not sure if I just got lucky or its always that good but I am going to go back next week and start looking for 16's...lol (thinking positive). So many people have said that losing weight its hard to picture yourself in smaller clothes and to get rid of the fat clothes...well NOT ME! I am so thrilled to get rid of clothes and move on to smaller ones...
  20. Great job Tina. My lifestyle is busy to so we tend to fast food alot too....but not anymore for me! It's hard but I do feel better. Welcome back to CA, John. Have a great time camping. Glad Nicole didn't see me today in my baggy work clothes...she would have let me have it..lol Anyway had to go to the thrift store at lunch and I was lucky enough to find 5 nice pair of work pants in a size 18...5 pants = 5 bucks! Not bad...All Dress Barn brand. I started at a 24 and let me tell you it feels good to be in an 18 but I am so looking forward to moving down in more sizes! Thanks Lee for the recomendation of myfitnesspal.com for logging my food--you are right, its the easiet one and all my food is in their database. I am logging my food good and its helping me stay focused. Hope everyone is well!
  21. Ash, burp burp burp that gas out of your system...you will feel better. I had to sleep up for a couple nights also; it really does help. By tomorrow you will feel lots better. I didn't even hardly try to get much fluid in the first few days..it was to hard. Give yourself a couple days before you worry to much about it. Walk as much as you can as that will help things heal faster. I still have one incision spot that is real sore; it is right by my bra so it gets irritated. Keep resting and taking your pain meds...you will be back with your boys in no time. Did your doc give you carafate to take?
  22. Ash, I can't believe you posted! Your crazy girl...rest yourself and fill us in on the stories when you feel good. John and Lee....30 and 40 pounds in 3 months? That is freaking awesome. I gonna try and be as good as you guys are! I am so happy with my sleeve so far; all my chosen foods are doing well with it and no pb'ing makes me happy! Need some sunshine...my veggies are not going to grow without some sun! Nice night everyone.
  23. That is so funny Chrissy; glad Ash was able to see things from her "happy place"...lol reminds me of the you tube video of the girl that was having dental work done and the happy juice made her do some hilarious things...if you want to see something funny, look up the you tube video...that girl talked about unicorns too....lol So far all the foods I have tried have worked with my sleeve, chicken is on the soft food list and shrimp is not really called out but shellfish is and I consider shirmp moist and soft...lol...anyway my trouble seems to come if I drink anything within an hour of eating--my sleeve does not want liquid company when there is food in there. I have only been sick once in the past couple weeks. Needless to say, getting in the 64 oz of Water has been difficult. I have done it a couple times but only if I am up real late and drink all the way until I go to bed. Now that I am back to work I am not going to stay up late so I have to continue to work on getting in my water. I have only been getting in about 500-700 calories a day and about 45 protien. With soft foods now hopefully I can bump up the Protein. Anyone have a good way to cook chicken drummettes without all the sugary sauces?
  24. Yeah Ash! Annalyn, I don't think I used anything I took...not even my robe! I used the hospital gowns and they gave me booty socks. Wearl comfy cloths there and then you can wear them home too. Your stomach will be very sore so loose fitting pants. I took my ipod but I only used that while waiting in the pre-op room; after that I just kept worrying about it getting stolen so I should have left that at home. First day of work went good; Robin called me today and advanced my diet! So soft food here I come. At the party today at work they had shrimp and some chicken wings so I actually got to eat something! Yeah. 3 shrimp and 2 drummettes!
  25. Good luck on the physc apt "Dis"...it's all good. Chrissy, sorry you were so sick. Sounds like a sarcastic remark to me because you are right, you are not losing slow! good luck on getting in that "thing"....I am sure you will be fine, fine, fine. Rain, rain, go away....
