8 weeks post op ~ feeling discouraged
You lucky! My doctor is making me weight until the 17th of February to get my first fill. I am keeping my calories to 1100 to 1200 a day, but it is a struggle. Keeping a food diary is helping though. I miss bread. LOL

8 weeks post op ~ feeling discouraged
I was thinking about purchasing a scale, but after reading these posts, I am going to put that off. I have always found out my weight whenever I visit the doctor. I will probably keep it that way. I have noticed my clothes getting looser, but I also notice I am getting hungrier! Keep up the good work! You have lost 20+ pounds. If you are working out, you are gaining muscle, which does weigh more. I would get a measuring tape and keep track of your progress that way!

I hope your appointment goes well!!! Goodbye Heartburn!

Do u feel the band when you move around?
I cannot feel my port either. The only thing I feel when I bend over is my largest incision stretching. YUCK! I will find out where my port is tomorrow when I go to my follow up!

No restriction whatsoever!
Thank you for posting this thread SwanGal! I have been worried about the same situation for the past couple of days! I am sitting here reading all these posts while my stomach grumbles! LOL I am still on liquids. The most solid thing I have had is Chicken and Wild Rice soup from Panera. I chewed the chicken until it was nothing, because I was scared I was cheating! LOL I was so hungry though. Kept to all liquids today, but I am so hungry! Off to bed with a growling stomach again! Thanks again! I wish everyone success!!!

Band Size
My doctor gave me that large LapBand too. I have my first follow-up tomorrow, and would like to find out why he chose that one. I had my surgery last Monday. I am on a liquid diet and I am hungry. I have no restriction and can take in liquids the same as before my surgery. (I still sip, but sometimes I forget). My first fill should occur in about 5 weeks.

December Bandsters 2009
I was banded a week ago and I really feel blah. I am keeping up on my protein drinks and fluids. I am growing hungrier each day. I have not had any problem drinking. My doctor said that is because he implanted the large size band in my stomach. I caught myself drinking my protein shake normally as I would have before surgery. Has anyone else experienced this?

I feel like a huge disaster I let down myself and im disgusted.

I hear you on the protein drinks! I can take Oh Yeah, Isopure, and Muscle Milk Light. There us some after taste and smell, but not as bad as others! There is also one I drink from a plastic test tube. It is OK too. I buy mine "ready to drink." it is pricier, but I can stomach them. I usually buy in bulk, on sale, or from Cost Co.

My doctor told me if I was vomiting or had diarreah to call him ASAP. I think you should call him first thing tomorrow. I wish you good health! PS my follow-up is on the 6th too.

Realize band vs. Lap band
After hearing this, I am so glad my Dr. gave me the large size band! I have had my band a week, and things are finally looking up! People do not call that week "bandster hell" for nothing! I wondered what in the world have I gotten myself into a couple days after the surgery. My post op follow up is on Weds, and I cannot wait to eat mushies.... Did I just say that? Ha ha ha Glad you got a band that works for you!!

Realize band vs. Lap band
That is wonderful! I am so happy for you!!!

Cereal?
Weight Watchers lists it in their fast food book as a good choice. I personally cannot stand McDonalds. If it works for someone, I think they should stick with it. It is all about modifications, calories in vs calories burned.
-
Cereal?
Egg McMuffins are actually a healthy choice. Not everything from fast food restaurants are bad for you. I think it is smart to know healthy fastfood choices if you are in a bind. Egg McMuffins are 250 calories without cheese, 290 with cheese.

I am sorry for your frustration! Exercise, Exercise, Exercise! That is the key. Calories in vs calories burned. I know you are probably sick of hearing that, but that is the solution. I got the lapband to assist me with my caloric intake. My metabolism is so slow, that if I look at food I gain. I have to eat minimally, and exercise my butt off to lose even a pound! I wish you luck. Use your frustration to work off those pounds. It is difficult to get started, but once you incorporate that into your routine, you should be good. Keep a food journal to track your calories, and exercise those calories off! PS I am a single mom; and juggle my time between my son, work and school too. I hope you are on this board in 6 months so that you can give me that same advice! I have to be accountable for every bite I take, and make sure I work it off! Hang in there!!! :smile2:

I screwed up Day one pre op!!!!!!Help
I agree with Minimeme. If you screw up, do not dwell on it! Just get back on the diet! If you dwell on it you might end up cheating more. Hang in there! This is good practice for after you get banded. All liquids, no solids!

BANDED 12-24 and can't sleep
I have had no problems sleeping due to the drugs. I have even been able to take naps. The first night home I slept on my back with pillows under my knees and all around me. I have never slept on my back. I fell asleep for 5 hours. I was shocked. Now I am sleeping on my side. The Loratab did help the first couple of nights sleeping. I am no longer taking it since I have to drive.

banded, 12/29,questions
How much gas is in there!!! I am so ready to deflate! LOL I had no gas on 12/28-12/29, but yesterday and today, I feel like I am going to float around the room. I am so bloated. How do I get rid of this gas! I really thought I would be gas free! HA HA HA! Good One, Huh?

Surgery 12-28-09
I have been home recovering for 4 days now. I think most of my pain is from gas. How do you get rid of the gas? I have been walking, stretching, doing weird yoga positions to get it out of me! This is driving me crazy! I know things will get better, but it is really taking a toll on me. I have been down in the dumps, and struggling to get my everyday chores completed. I do not mean to have a pity party, I am just kind of blue. Has anyone else every felt like this after surgery?

scared/embarrassed/unsure
I just had lap band surgery on Monday, and I did not think about how it would impact my life as a single mom. It has been a struggle, but we are making it! I am hoping that I begin to feel better over the next couple of days. I have been depressed, and have had no energy, but I do not want my son to know that; so I am putting on a happy face. I know this is not forever, and things will get easier. I want to be alive and active for my son as he grows older. With this surgery, it will be possible! Hang in there. You will always have fears, but you need to do what you feel in your heart!

December Bandsters 2009
Thank you luvj0nz! I am hanging in there. I feel like I am in limbo right now. Thank goodness my Mom is here keeping my 11 year old entertained. I walked around downstairs earlier and watched TV. I am thinking about taking a nap. I slept great last night, but I am still tired. Everyone on this site is wonderful! I wish everyone a healthy journey!

First day home from the hospital, and I am so sore! Ouch! Started sipping liquids this morning. Going to take vitamins and meds in a few. How long does the pain last?
