What to eat? Pls help!
I just had my surgery this morning. I am not feeling too bad, just having referred pain to my shoulders from the gas they put into my abdomen. I am hoping it will be gone by tomorrow. The best thing for it is to walk around. I was also told that I had a large hiatal hernia that needed to be repaired... big surprise to me! So the journey begins.... :smile2:

What to eat? Pls help!
That is a rough diet. I drink EAS Advant Edge in chocolate. I think it tastes pretty good. My nutritionist also gave me an alternative diet if I absolutely needed to have something else. I have been having tomatoes, cucumbers, and green Beans. A couple of times I had low fat weiners. This is what I was given as an alternative so again, you would need to discuss this with your nutritionist.

What to eat? Pls help!
Did your doctor give you a list of pre-op foods? If not, you might want to contact your nutritionist to let them know that you need something else other than the Protein Shakes. I know it is rough, try to hang in there.

Any January 2010 Bandsters????
I wasn't suggesting that anyone not follow there own doctor's instructions on diet. I was just suggesting that if they are at the point where they are going to slip-up, it is better to choose something that will be better for them than to choose the bad carbs, which are not. Just trying to help...

Any January 2010 Bandsters????
Hi MaryfromMI, My surgery is scheduled for Jan. 11. I was told to go on a liquid pre-op diet for 14 days, starting the 27th of Dec. Today is the end of my 3rd day. There is also a pre-op diet list of solid foods that they gave me to choose from if I absolutely need to. I was told that they prefer that I stick with the liquids only. Well you know what... there is no way I can go for 2 weeks on only liquids. What I have been doing to help with the hunger is I cut up a tomato or cucumber, add salt and vinegar and mmmm. They taste pretty good like that. I also, yesterday and today, replaced one of my protein drinks for a small piece of left over turkey. So far so good. I have lost 6 lbs in 3 days. I no it is just water at this point so we will see what the next 11 days will be like. I am also suppose to go on a 14 day post-op liquid diet ...ugh. If you feel the need to eat something solid, try 3 oz of lean meat in place of the protein drink. You can also nibble non-starchy vegetables. Try to stay away from bread, pasta, and rice. I hope this helps.

Good luck Sephanie. I hope you are able to find what will work for you!

Tight band keepers.
Wow... I am so lucky that I didn't have to go through all the steps you had to, to get approved. My surgery was approved one week after my consult, and scheduled 2 1/2 weeks later. I get banded on Jan. 11.

Did your Doc require a pre-op diet?
I get banded January 11. I am required to be on a 2 week pre-op liquid diet, and 2 weeks post-op. Today is day one for me.

Day one on pre-op diet.
I was instructed to go on a two week liquid pre-op diet. They do however, include a very stick pre-op solid foods diet that I can choose from if I absolutely can't stick the liquids only. So far I have only had a tomato. Not bad I'd say. Only 13 more days to go...

6 days into 10 day liquid diet and I'm DYING
Mr. TJ, I thought this website was for support and encouragement. All I was doing was venting about how I was feeling. I know it takes discipline and commitment to succeed in anything we wish to accomplish. Two weeks of a liquid diet is not something we do everyday. I had read how difficult it was for others and decided to share how I was feeling. And no, I don't need any hand holding, just support from others going through the same thing.

6 days into 10 day liquid diet and I'm DYING
Ouch TJ!!! I do know that it is going to be a lifestyle choice that will not be easy. And no, I am not being forced to have surgery. But obviously I am not being successful on my own so I need help. My head is on straight.

6 days into 10 day liquid diet and I'm DYING
I am really stressing out about my upcoming liquid, pre-op diet. I start it on Dec 27. After reading the hell everybody is going through, I don't know how I am going to get through it myself. After all, if we could stick to a diet, we wouldn't be going through weight loss surgery. I find myself wanting to eat everything in the house now because I know I can't after Saturday. What a psychological roller coaster!

Banded Oct. 20th, 2009
JeweI, question on the weight loss ticker you added. I tried to copy and paste mine but all I got was the link to it. How did you add yours?

Any January 2010 Bandsters????
JeweI, thanks for your words of encouragement. I too have been out of my family's lives. I haven't seen my sister for 9 years now (at my mother's funeral). I refuse to have any pics taken of me, and I haven't met my husband's family, except for mom and dad, since we have been married, 10 years. All I want to do is hide inside my home. It is pretty sad how we stop living life because of being fat. Thanks again!

Day 2...
My surgery was approved only 1 week after my consult. I didn't have time to prepare for my upcoming surgery, on Jan. 11. Now I am second guessing if I should have it.

I've been a bad, bad girl....
Wow... and here I am stressing over if I can stick with the darn liquid diet for 2 weeks pre-op and 2 weeks post-op. My surgery is scheduled for Jan 11.

Any January 2010 Bandsters????
I am scheduled for January 11, 2010. My insurance approval and surgery date was taken care of in just one week. I was actually told I could have it done on the 4th of January but that would have meant that I couldn't have Christmas dinner with my family. I opted to move it back one week. I am stressing out about being able to stick with the liquid diet two week prior to surgery, and then, two more weeks post-op. I also wonder how I am going to be able to stick with such a strict diet for the rest of my life. I am starting to second guess if this is the right direction to take.
