I have always struggled with weight. Always losing and gaining it back. Last year I thought I would take the bull by the horns and I decided to go on a very strict diet where I would not eat carbs or sugar. I ended up losing almost 60lbs and I was at my thinnest last year at about October. The day after thanksgiving my grandmother who I was very close with passed away. That is pretty much what started it all. I then moved in with my boyfriend and we embarked on a very serious relationship. He is thin and can pretty much eat whatever he wants, whenever he wants. That being said I gained all my weight back plus more, 70 pounds total. and this time I was now at my heaviest in just one year. You can imagine how not only difficult that was to admit but also embarrassing that was to accept. After seeing both my parents and several other family members be successful with the Lapband surgery I decided that I was done battling this disease alone. I knew I needed help and I was not ashamed to admit that. I was and still am very open about my surgery and am not ashamed to admit that I needed help. My surgery was suppose to be December 3rd, but the day before (yes... the day before) i got a call the my insurance was not covering it because they did not see a medical need for it. After appealing and having to get my BMI to 40 and proving to them that I did have sleep apnea, it was approved for December 21st, which was just 2 days ago. I am now home recovering and I am so beyond happy and proud of myself. I was scared at first and I remember that night being very upset that I made the choice and questioned why I couldn't do it on my own. I felt upset that I needed to go through so much just to lose weight and keep it off. After the pain and discomfort subsided (which was very minimal) I felt back to normal and feel 100% justified and content with my decision. I cannot wait to get better and start dropping this weight!
