I want to set goals...but not sure how
My advice is to set mini goals. I'm noticing on the "Post Operation" side they have mini goals that seem fun and it might be easier to handle and also might cause less frustration! I know what you are going through though but just remember as long as our numbers are going down we're heading in the right direction!! Good luck with everything.

Rescheduled my surgery date.
Hi Paula! I am feeling GREAT! I was having some minor shoulder gas pain but that's gone and some port site soreness but honestly as of right now that's pretty much gone as well. I had surgery on a Tuesday and I could of gone back to work by Monday but my surgeon made me wait until the following Monday (I really wasn't complaining). Hope that helped :-)

I am so nervous......
First off good luck to all of you getting banded this week!! How exciting. I remember how I felt the day before my surgery and I was NERVOUS as hell. I am going to be banded 3 weeks tomorrow and honestly I haven't regretted it one day so far! It definitely sounds like you are doing this for all the right reasons and it's just nerves that you're feeling. When I walked into the operating room the morning of my surgery I'm not going to lie, I was going make a run for it but I didn't and I'm glad I didn't. Just like some previous posters said, read some success stories, check out youtube videos and think about how different your life is going to a year from now. Again good luck!!!

Approved for surgery, but not approved for hospital stay
I had to stay over night. I actually never got a room I was in recovery all night (was supposed to be in ICU because of my sleep apnea but there were no beds so I got stuck in recovery all night). I guess I was there about 24 hours and even though I could of gone home the day of surgery I was glad to be in the hospital. I hope your doctor can figure something out (I'm sure he will). Good luck and keep us posted.

A Pre-Diet Before Your Pre-Op Liquid Diet?
When I went back for my seminar and education glass back in Sept. 09 they told us to start making healthier choices. I'm not going to lie to you, I did not. I started my liquid diet cold turkey and it was HARD. I would recommend anyone to start making wiser choices as soon as they decide to go for surgery just so it's not so stressful when you have to go on your liquid diet.

Pills and Lap Band
I would defintely start asking your doctors now if they can switch any of your pills to liquid. If not as long as they aren't time released you can crush them and get them down. I take synthroid and my surgeon gave me the ok to take that whole (it's real tiny). My pain pills I had to cut and my vitamins are all chewable.

Getting Banded Monday!!
I'm a little late on this but good luck!!! Hope to hear from you soon.

Lung Doctor Visit
I think it's because a lot of over weight people have sleep apnea and some surgeons make their patients wake up on their machines. Not sure why but I know my surgeon said there was a possibility that one I'd either wake up with the tube down my throw still or I'd wake up on my cpap. No need to panic either way though, it's just a precaution.

Hmm...can somebody verify something for me?
Wow....I can't even imagine the doctor I went to saying stuff like that! She was more worried about my mental state than letting me know what I can and can't do, that's what my surgeon and nutritionist is for. Anyway good luck to you!!! Hope it all works out.

What to Stock up on
My saving grace were my gas-x strips!!! I would stock up on those. Make sure you have your Protein ready and make sure you test a few just so you know you like it. My doctor had strict guidelines on what kind of protein we could have (high in Fiber so that I didn't have to drink 2 a day, low in carbs) so muscle milk didn't work for me. I would check into that first before you buy anything. Also make sure you have your vitamins!!! Another thing that saved me because I was getting sick of Water, sugar free kool aid!! Hope that helped and good luck!!!

When will paperwork be sent for approval?
My paperwork was sent out once they had 6 month diet history, nut evaluation surgeons evaluation and psych evaluation. I guess it really depends on the office though. I would give them a call and check!

Having Surgery while having your "Monthly"?
Thank goodness I had mine the week before BUT my friend who had the surgery was on hers and they just put some pads under her during and after surgery.

Considering the Lap Band
Right now I am on day 3 of my "mushy" phase of the diet. I can eat scrambled eggs, yogurt, Beans, tuna & chicken (mushed) with some fat free mayo, I can have some mashed cauliflower fat free ricotta. That's all I can think of off my list right now lol.

Consult - preop diet and insurance question
I had a some what similar problem with United Healthcare. I was told over and over that I wouldn't need 6 months of diet history (called UHC, checked our policy, spoke to my HR dept). When they sent in my paperwork I was denied because I didn't have a 6 month diet history! I was so annoyed but I got it done and now I'm banded and couldn't be happier. It looks like you have a different policy than me so I'm sure you'll be fine especially since your co workers were approved. Good luck with everything!!!
