Thanks for sharing. My first fill is in two weeks. My weight loss has been at a stand still for the last two weeks so I'm looking forward to some restriction. I hope that you are feeling better today

Yes, what is this Shimmying you speak of? I could use a good exercise video.
  3. You sound exactly like me! I am almost a month post op, my weight loss has been slow but steady. I feel awesome! And I am afraid to try some foods. I thought that was just a thing going on in my personal brain so Its neat to hear someone else say the same thing. I'm not so much afraid that they are going to get stuck. I think maybe its that it will bring back the old me, or undo the progress I've done. I am afraid to eat pasta, rice, potato, bread. Basically starches. I have no problem eating protein. Also not really eating veggies. Not sure what the dietitian is going to have to say about that. Good job staying strong. I want to climb one of those rock walls HA! Good luck to both of us. I know we can do it if you stay the course :sneaky:
  4. My condolences for your loss. Losing a family member is so emotional and can be very complicated. So you have a lot to deal with right now. I lot on your plate so to speak :cursing: Its not an excuse, its your real life. Its easy to fall off track and you can get right back on. Try not to be hard on yourself. You sound determined. It sounds like you are making really good decisions for yourself and I know that you are going to make it through this tough time.
  5. So Its pureed food week and I'm getting to try some new things. Everything has gone down smoothly. I feel like I have little to no restriction and I probably don't. Haven't really been hungry but I can see now where a fill will be needed. Not sure if I'm scared to eat carbs or if I really just don't like the same foods I used to. Tried to blend up some foods in the magic bullet and was completely turned off by the ones with high carbs. Tonight was my families thanksgiving and I tried some ground ham and some mashed thinned sweet potato. That was pretty good but my blood sugar was up when I checked it a couple hours later. Wondering if it was too soon to take me off of my medication. Scared that when I reintroduce food that my weight loss will stop and that the blood sugar will be high again. I know that I can do this! I will stay strong and keep exercising. But...Is it wrong to move myself back a step. I feel like my mind wasn't ready for more food choice freedom. It is almost easier and more structured when I'm just on the liquids and protein drinks. How long do you think I could live healthy like that?

  7. I'm a excited newbie  I was banded on Nov 12 and I am doing really good. I didn't have much pain but of course struggling with mental hunger. I think that this will be the hardest part to change. My mind. Started walking this month and now I do a couple miles a day. Hope to keep it going when winter comes. Thanks for sharing everyone it helps me a lot to hear what other people are going through. See you all around I hope.

Hi jerry :cursing: I was banded on Nov 12th. Like you, I thought I would be doing this without a support group. I am used to being independent and doing things my own way. I quit other addictions like smoking and drinking on my own. The way I decided too. I was really surprised when I was trying to vent to some of the people around me and I felt like I was whining and misunderstood. Grrr. Kind of a blow to my pride at first but now I'm starting to like reading other peoples posts. And now I'm responding and doing a little blogging even. I don't know anything about you but I know that you can change. I hope you can stay positive through it. I personally feel like some days I have lost my dear friend food and sometime mourn the loss.Trying to keep my goals in mind to help drive me to success  Write me anytime if you want to share :crying:

Hi Kimmee. I was banded on Nov 12th and have also had those little bubbles. So strange. I never ever used to burp unless I drank pop but not I have little burps every time I eat or drink. They are not productive thank goodness. Thanks for sharing and good luck. I am super excited to watch myself shrink too :cursing:
  10. Sounds like your starting to do some soul searching. Do you have a special goal for yourself? That helps me a lot. I also kind of have to just let myself get a bit obsessed with fitness every now and than. It gets me back on the right track. Its not difficult but it is still hard. I bet you will be back in the grove of things soon. Try to stay positive and strong :cursing: I am new to being banded and I can see myself already comparing to others and there experiences with weightloss. I think this is good and bad. Write me anytime if you feel like talking  I'm new and would love to hear about your journey.

Congratulations on your 40 pound loss! Thats so great. It takes mental strength to stick to your course. It is a personal journey and I know what its like to have people around who don't want you to be successful. I had a "friend" call yesterday who I haven't talked to in a little while. He told me that he thought that I just hadn't returned any of his calls because I thought that I was better than he was now. I made a joke of it and told him that I had always thought I was better than him, even before surgery :cursing: It still kind of troubled me that he would think I could be such a shallow person. I think that you are right in that sometimes it is a persons own insecurities that are showing through. Glad to hear there are some supportive people around for you too. This site has been great for me. Thanks for sharing and good luck.
  12. I am now nine days post surgery. I have been walking walking walking and I feel really good. I'm hungry at night. I dont think its mental munchies I think that I am getting better and that I am honestly hungry. I keep the liquids coming and have my protein drinks. I have an appointment with my dr in three days and I hope that he will ok me to move to mushies. I have had no problems with jello and cream of soups. In the middle of my work week so I'm a bit tired but other than that I feel really good. I wonder how much I weigh. I am scared that its not coming off as it should. My metabolism is so slow. I am hopeful I will be pleasantly surprised on Tuesday. hanging in there and trying my best to follow the rules.

lol! I also am so sick of the unjury chicken soup. It is a nice change from the sweet jello and chocolate unjury though. I was banded 7 days ago so I'm not far behind you  Great job staying positive. I'm really excited too and the results are an early boost! Good luck

o that sounds so scary! I hope you are ok. That seems odd that the dr wouldn't even see you before making a decision. Can you make and apt to be seen sooner specifically for this? Or be seen by another Dr? I know insurance and bills are crazy but I would want to know for sure that I was ok as soon as possible. Good luck, stay strong and I hope you get some answers  The end of December is a long time for you to worry.
  16. happy Anniversary! I have been banded exactly a week ago and hope to have what you have achieved. I hope you are happy and healthy  Thank you for sharing it helps a lot.
  17. I don't get hiccups but I think they come from your diaphragm and not your stomach. I do get little burps. I never burped before unless i drank pop or ate a polish sausage. Only things that made me burp seriously. Now everytime I have something I have a couple little burps. I eat jello and drink my liquids slow but I still have little air burps. kind of weird but not at all painful

Welcome welcome  Hope you stay strong and positive on working toward your goals. Its nice to relate to some people dealing with the same issues. Congratulations on your weight loss. I am not as far along as you are so not really sure what to expect for normal myself but this site has a lot of good help. Take care.

I can't believe it has been a week. I think that i received some really great advice from you all. i have been morning the loss of my dear friend food. I used to look forward to meeting up with this friend many times a day and that excitement is gone. So I think I have been doing really well at creating new excitement for myself. Visiting out of town friends, walking, walking, walking. Picked up some extra hours at work. Feeling a lot more positive about the choices I've been making. Plus today I get to add cream soups. Picked up some 98% fat free broc and cheese. Holy cow is that going to be a treat. Probably won't be able to eat very much of it but I don't even care. I used to think that I had to eat a lot and feel really full to get the full enjoyment out of my food. I used to think that if you were going to eat ice cream, you should go all the way and eat it with chocolate and whipped cream. I used to think that if you were going to order prime rib at a restaurant that you better order the 24oz size or don't order it at all. Go big or go home! That was what I thought. I think I have changed. Or may be snapped hehehe. Just kidding. I think that my brain is rewiring and I am seeing that I was wrong. And there is a thing as too much. Go big or go home, I'm going home to have a protein drink

Hi I'm new. I was banned 11-12-09 and am following the program. I felt very little discomfort after surgery. I was a bit sore around incision sites and had a few strange bruises but otherwise am well. My dr took me off of my diabetes medication and my blood sugar is normal. Everyone seems to think this is amazing. It shouldn't be high though I haven't eaten solid food in ten days. Most of the time I am excited and feel like I have more energy than ever before. Today I woke feeling a little down in the dumps. I have mental hunger often and used to really look forward to eating my meals. I think I'm a little sad to not have that right now. Kind of hard to get pumped up over clear liquids. I am trying to keep things in perspective and I understand its going to get better. Glad to find this site and share others experiences. I began at 351 and am 330 now. Lots of supportive people around me but I still feel kind of like I'm doing this alone. Sharing with the blog will hopefully help

I am also on day 5. I feel really good physically but it is hard to get in all those fluids. I am at 330 and hope the journey goes well. Why are you nervous for the visit? I am using protein powder and am not physically hungry but feel mentally deprived of my favorite foods. Hang in there and do your best to stay strong

I also had my surgery on the 12th. Good luck to the both of us
