  1. roflmao OMG this is hysterical thanks for making my day!!:smilielol5: So Denise have you ever tried a Diet Coke Fill?? Just wonderin if that would give me my soda fix at the same time!!!
  2. You know Vlp I was thinking the same thing and told him either you are going to work with me on this or work against me and if you choose the later then you can pack your bags cuz I didn't go through all of this to fail so far its been good but I can see where that would happen I think some men get comfortable with their "fat" wifes and don't handle the change well but so far our little talk has worked but I figure if he starts bringing home the junk again I will pack his bags for him lmao
  3. lol sweetbean my "well meaning friend" has been my husband who is 6 foot 2 and 200 lbs and can't gain weight if you paid him to and since having my band in December he has brought home more sweets and treats since I have known him. For example he brought home about 12 boxes of Girl Scout cookies the Thin Mints and those Coconut chocolate ones the ones he knows I love. Either he is sabbotaging me or testing me not sure but finally pulled him aside and said no more sweets in the house and if you want them for yourself keep them in your car locked up lmao so far so good no more treats, so I would tell your friend that you appreciate her kindness but you are on a diet right now and really don't need the temptation then if she still continues I would be wondering what her true motives are!!
  4. Wow so if stress messes with the band I am surprised we all arent walking around too tight, I'm pretty sure everyone has stress going on in their life. This band is a hard one to figure out but I definitely notice right before that time of the month things are really tight then the next week back to normal Kind of hard to know when we hit that perfect restriction isn't it??? So much to learn
  5. I have wondered this same thing and was told the same too tight means little or no weight loss but I have been too tight several times and have still lost weight so really the thing that makes the most sense to me is that you are compensating for not being able to eat solid foods with the slider foods that are higher in calories and you are always hungry. I think the only reason I didn't do that when I was too tight was because I got so sick from trying solid foods that even the mushies or slider food didn't sound good to me at the time but I can definitely see where that would happen.
  6. OMG I love Jamba Juice Strawberries and banana with protein what I would like to know is why can't I find a Protein powder that tastes like theirs??? I know its whey protein but I have tried them all and nothing compares...
  7. Juliansmom this sounds really good will try this weekend!! I wanted to tell you I made the Ranch Chicken recipe you posted the other day and it was delicious the chicken was so tender it actually fell apart in the crockpot even my picky hubby raved about it. Please keep posting your recipes :scared2:
  8. Also think about where your incisions will be and the kind of clothes you can wear. I found wearing my bra pretty irritating. lol Mel that is soooo true forget the underwire's for a while I lived in sports bras and sweats My port incision sits right where you buckle your pants so jeans killed me the first couple of weeks. Debbie as far as food I was on mushies after 5 days and mashed potatos, yogurt, applesauce and scrambled eggs is what I lived on till I was on solids. and let me tell you those mashed potatoes with brown gravy tasted like filet mignon after a week of broth, popsicles and Protein shakes lol but from what I have read on here everyones doctor is different with the diet so what foods will you be allowed to eat when you go back to work do you know??
  9. I had my surgery on the 18th and this past Friday 3 weeks out I finally am feeling like myself I too had to take naps and felt like my energy was drained and at 1 week out I could never have returned to work(still sore, and taking my pain meds probably was contributing to lack of energy) but I think the others are right everyone is different but I would be prepared just in case like maybe you could see if you could go back part time or half days if your boss would let you or just tell them upfront you are having surgery and you are not sure how much time you will need off. good luck
  10. My surgeon said 2 months at the seminar, then when I met with him it changed to 2 weeks then his nurse said 24 hours before the procedure soooo....who knows lol I did do the 2 weeks prior to surgery but have been having a few here and there since I had it done and I know I need to stop but like you said giving up eating, drinking, cigarettes and pop has been a BI TC H so all I can do is take each day at a time.
  11. Hey I am in the Denver area (Aurora to be exact) Sure I would love to meet other bandsters in the area pm me!!
  12. I had my lap band 2 weeks ago Friday and my blood glucose numbers have gone up since my surgery in the high 200's. At first I thought it could be from the stress of the surgery the first week but shouldn't they be coming down by now I mean I haven't had any sugar or very little in 2 weeks and is there anyone out there whose numbers didn't come down and they had to stay on insulin???
  13. Who is hating here?? and you are right these ARE NORMAL feelings for a small amount of closed minded people who have never had a weight problem or never struggled with one, but for all of us that HAVE We know what these people are going through so how could you NOT feel compassion or sympathy?? Sorry but not buying the fact that these are NORMAL feelings from someone who has and still is struggling with their weight. The OP was judging and hating on people that are just like her and placing herself above these people just because she took the steps to make a change and they for whatever reason have not.--
  14. Wow so let me get this straight you have had your band all of about 1 month You are still morbidly obese and you can say all these horrible things about your friends and family and overweight people??? Are you sure the doctor didn't band your brain???
  15. Hey voodoo so your were banded on the 18th?? That is the same day I was banded and yes I am right there with you I also feel exhausted and just after taking a shower and getting dressed I feel like I want to go back to bed for another 8 hours but I do notice my energy coming back slowly but surely In fact I might even take my dog for a walk this afternoon to see if just a little bit of exercise helps Hang in there I am sure in a few weeks we will have more energy than we have had in years!!!
  16. Hey guys I was banded Friday 12/18 and today is the first day I actually could get out of bed and get on the computer lol The first 3 days I slept constantly probably because I was taking my oxycodein every 4 hours regardless if I was in pain or not I just didn't want to find out and have to wait for it to kick in. I was a little suprised as to how I felt when I woke up from the surgery. I guess I was expecting to have some pain and discomfort but I felt horrible(kinda of like I would think you would feel after being backed over by a semi lol) and the pain was right in the center of my chest area the nurse said it was gas but it felt like I could only imagine having a heart attach would feel like--- I also felt nauseous and my chest burned They made me sit up right away and start taking deep breaths to clear the anesthesia out of my lungs I wanted to sleep so badly or at least lay down but I had to go have my barrium test. I was banded at 10 am and home by 4. I am sure I will be happy I had this done once I start to feel better but I still feel weak, tired, hungry and gas pains have settled to left shoulder and neck area. I have seen where people have said they have gone back to work after 3 or 4 days but I can not even imagine working right now or even in the next few days but then again maybe I am just a wimp lol
  17. Hey coconutlatte I am being banded by Dr Snyder this Friday so sorry I can't help you out with the hunger thing but have you been drinking your protein shakes?? I have heard that those can take the edge off. Were you happy with Dr. Snyder it seems so long that I have seen him for my first consult I won't even remember what he looks like lol Where are you in Denver?? Do you know of any support groups in the Denver/Aurora area?? I hope things get better for you and let me know how your first fill goes!!
  18. Getting more nervous the day is quickly approaching Hope everyone can keep us posted how they are doing and if anyone has anything that they weren't prepared for to let us know so there are no last minute suprises lol LBT Name Kells0802 Height 5'9" Surgery Date 11/20 10:30 am Starting WT 242 Surgery Day WT???? Current WT 235
  19. I can see us both now dandleon on Thanksgiving day---oh please no turkey and stuffing for me just pass the pureed potatoes and I'll take a teaspoon of gravy with that.--No wine with your dinner?? Oh no a shot glass of crystal light is more than enough for me!!! lmao:lol:
  20. Hey my date is set for 11/20/2009 the week before Thanksgiving YIKES but I too am a nervous wreck the one thing I don't understand is my surgeon does not have me on any diet what so ever just 24 hours before the procedure a liquid diet. This kind of concerns me cuz if the pre op diet makes things go easier I would be all for it but he says not to worry about it. He also said he wanted me smoke free (yea I am a smoker) for 1 week when I have seen other people say they were to quit a month before--why so many differences from doctor to doctor??? Also it seems like a lot of people having this are in their 20's and 30's are there any 40 + people out there and do you think the recovery process takes longer for us older folks lol??? Anyway glad to see there are so many people starting this journey with me and hopefully we can share our experiences with each other every step of the way!!! Good luck everyone and lets all stay in touch!!!
  21. Brigette I will definitely be praying for you and please let me know how it goes I will be in your exact position a week from tomorrow but I am sure everything will go fine and by the time I have mine you will be an old pro at this good luck and I am anxious to hear from you!!!
  22. lol thanks bluetopaz I guess thinking I had till the 8th of January was a relief for me cuz I wouldn't have to miss out on the 2 biggest meals of the year Thanksgiving and Christmas(how sad that I love food so much that this is going to be like I am breaking up with my best friend) but I have to keep reminding myself that there is always going to be a holiday, birthday, anniversary, cookout so you could keep putting this off indefinitely or just suck it up and do it right?? So wish me luck anything inparticular I should add to my grocery list I so far have GasX strips, a heating pad, cold packs, Protein drinks, SF popsicles,SF pudding and Jello, crystal light, broth, liquid tylenol, tea, and thats about it. by the way I will hopefully be a sexy BABE next year at the Thanksgiving get together and also be able to have Turkey instead of broth lol
  23. Hi Mel nice to meet another Coloradan, My doctor just told me I had to fast for 24 hours before the procedure not sure exactly why because I thought I would have to do some awful fasting for weeks before but anyhow guess my wishes came true I just got a call from my surgeons office and they had a cancellation on 11/20/2009 so I am having this done a week from Friday  I will let you know how everything goes and hopefully you will receive your date soon and we can start this journey together!!!
  24. So now I am being banded on 11/20/2009 (the week before THANKSGIVING mind you) instead of 1/8/2010 OMG WTH did I just agree to
  25. thanks for the welcome wow Vail is beautiful been there many times I am so excited to have this done but I am also nervous and scared but I guess that is to be expected. I wish it was sooner but my doc couldn't get me in till after the first of the year soooo any words of wisdom would be much appreciated I am trying to prepare myself as much as I can now so I am not in for a shock afterwards(like trying to give up my Diet Dr Pepper and drink only 1 cup of coffee in the morning instead of a pot lol didn't know how hard this was going to be) :tongue_smilie: but I am sure it will get easier. but I am sure I will have tons of questions before the big day so any seasoned banders that have any advice or suggestions I am all ears!!
