Your assistance is needed, Dr. Freud...(warning XXX Content)
It is true that I have a lot of old food in containers in the fridge which I really don't want to deal with because of the ick factor. This played a central role in my garbage dream. You see, containers go in one recycle box and uneaten food goes in the "wet" recycle bin. Ugh! Fuzzy green yogurt and raita, etc.... Oh, pukies!

I find this comment very interesting, Nina. You see, I have known a number of people who have grown up with a handicapped sibling and without exception every one of these individuals has been bitter about the loss/transfer of parental attention and other family resources.

I never get interesting sex dreams anymore. I think it is because I am on too many antidepressants and as you probably know they do kind of ruin the libido. Sad times for my mate. :phanvan Last night I dreamt about putting out the garbage, a complex business at best in my city because we have an elaborate recycling system, but in this case it was like cleaning out my own private garbage dump. A boring but unpleasant dream. :tired And today is garbage day. :straight

That's fantastic, Argon. Refunds are always nice. Now that I am retired I don't see them anymore. *sob* But on the other hand I get to do what I do best: be an ageing slacker.

Daylight Saveings
Very sensible of Arizona. :clap2: But, seriously, the amount of sunlight we do or don't have available varies widely from summer to winter the closer to the poles we live. In the summertime the hours of light can be very, very long and the opposite is true in the winter. In Canada and the northern States we really do suffer from a terrible loss of daylight in the winter months. (This is why we are now told to take extra vita D.) This is the argument that is trotted out for moving the time back and forward by an hour each spring and fall. I still think it sucks, though.

I'm not a freakin' bank!
Hey, excellent idea! :clap2:

I'm not a freakin' bank!
Wasa, it sounds like your sister has serious problems and lending her money is only enabling her. A woman who can make a million bucks vanish up her nose cannot be helped by your love and generosity.

Yah, one of our 3 prairie provinces (either Saskchewan or Manitoba) refuses to do it, too. I am always so envious. *whine*

I guess this means that you can't respond by asking them if they've managed to get rid of their crabs yet......... So ask them about their head lice problem. :heh:

Daylight Saveings
No, we have it in Canada and the U.S. I personally hate it. It takes me weeks to adjust to summer time. This is because I am not a morning person. :tired I wish we would stick to one time all the time.

I'm not a freakin' bank!
Tell 'em you've got a gambling problem...... teehee I have had similar problems to yours, Chelle. My mother died a couple of years ago and left me quite a lot of money. A number of my friends have found themselves up against it for various reasons and my husband and I have lent them money since we are now the rich ones in our gang. So far we haven't seen any money come back to us although one individual does mention that she is going to pay us back. As for the other two, no mention of the money! As for why we have loaned money to these people, well, it is because we like them, we are in a good financial place, my husband is a kind and generous man, I used to be poor when I was young, and now I feel a little bit guilty about having a lot of cash when some of our friends have so little. It can be difficult to say no.

Great post, Kat817. I always do enjoy listening to what you have to say. I am very sorry to hear that you will be stuck in another brawl with that cancer beast. I trust that you will defeat it quickly. Keep us in the loop, will you? :boink:

Anyone "into" interior decorating?
This has happened a lot with the old houses in the core of my city. There are a lot of Victorian and Edwardian houses which became very cheap as they fell out of fashion during the 40s and the 50s. Immigrants bought them and then began grafting their own and very alien aesthetic on them. The Greeks, Italians, and Portuguese who tended to work in construction were especially fond of doing this. The result is houses which have been uglified beyond belief but the workmanship is magnificient. The real estate people refer to these houses as "nationalised." The houses which survived were the ones which were turned into rooming houses during this era and simply allowed to run down. Now folks want to live downtown in these period houses and they are being fixed up by Yuppies. I am lucky in that I live in a house which was mostly fixed up by a Yuppy couple. Unfortunately their marriage crashed before they got to the kitchen. This remains the most dysfunctional kitchen in the universe because I have been too lazy and too neurotic to deal with reno and workmen. About a third to a half of the houses on my street have been nationalised.

I don't understand (goal weight rant)
I am 5'6" tall, currently weigh 149 lbs and have a healthy BMI. I weighed 200 lbs when I have the band installed last September. My prime motivation was simple vanity. Now, because of my particular body type I still wear a size 10 pant and an XL sweater, just as some of you who weigh 20 lbs more than I do. This is because although I am slim in the hips and legs I have a thick waist and broad shoulders. And at my age I don't like to wear anything too clingy! I guess you all have now figured out that I have provided the boring details of my height, weight, and clothing size in order to point out that different people really are built differently. I do believe, too, that some people are built to carry more weight than others. At my skinniest I managed to drop to 129 lbs but only for an hour or so; the 130s were the norm for this grrl. Life did not design me for a career in Hollywood or on a catwalk. What the comments in this thread are saying is that weight is an issue which is both objective and subjective. It may be possible to wear a size 18 or 20 and be a very healthy and happy woman. I did not notice any changes in my health apart from improved cholesterol readings when I lost 50 lbs. My blood pressure was good and remains unchanged. I was as flexible then as I am now. My energy levels are the same. The only difference for me is emotional; I think I look better and so I am happier about myself. I can shop in normo stores and look good in my clothes. I get compliments. Like I said at the beginning of this post, for me it was all about vanity. At the same time I must confess that there is a part of me who still thinks that I am the fat grrl that I used to be. I am finding that it takes awhile for the head to adjust.

who supports right to choose
I have this theory that those ultra preemies are not only ultra costly at the outset but will also continue to be horribly expensive. This means that both their families as well as our society will be on the on the financial and emotional hook with respect to this biz of dealing with these sad little creatures and their many, many needs. A sad affair and one which is not particularly cost effective given that there is a whole lot of dysfunction going on in this world. Does this sound like a I Don't Care Bear assessment of the current situation? Probably, but that is the end result of cost analysis. Green is kinda mean...........

who supports right to choose
A most interesting and balanced post, nina874. I sincerely thank you. I am curious to know whether these super preemies grow up to be healthy individuals or whether they will be plagued with health issues for the duration of their lives. Can you advise us on this? Do these babies catch up to the rest of us?
