  1. Hi Theresa, welcome to our Florida group. I live in cnetral Florida, but there are ladies on here that live up your way. Saw your profile picture, you look great! Karen
  2. Just thought of something else to add. When I went for my seminar, tehy giv eyou a questionare/ Why do you think you need lapband? Most of us can and have lost weight. I get bored with it and that is why I (and most others) gain it back. Getting bored was the number 1 answer. After 40 lbs with WW, I got bored. Have you tried liquid proein diet? I lsot a lot of weight, not sure how much, but after you stop the diet, weight gain starts because it is not normal way to "eat". My stomach was so sensitive, I ate dry cheerois between meals. Best wishes. Karen
  3. I was 100lbs overweight. I lost 23 lbs during pre-op diet. That still put me 75 lbs overweight. I di not tell everyone that I was having lapband surgery. I just told some I was having in/out surgery. It is pretty comon in my age group to get some kind of in/out surgery and do a liquid diet beforehand. After I lost a lot of my weight, then I mentioned that I had surgery, everyone was amazed that I did so well. I am now on the way to my 3 year bandiversary, and still struggle at times, but I have NEVER met goal before and I had been on a lot of diets to try do so. Best wishes!!Karen
  4. I am glad to hear you are okay, and your NSV, very funny!!! Karen
  5. I gree with elcee. Your goal should depend on what body type you have, also. Youare young, so it factors differently than whenyou are older. Also, if you are active and exercise alot, you will be a different goal weight than someone who is not doing alot of exercise. There are many factors to look at. I am almost 64, I would look silly at my 118 size that I was at 21. I look good at 140, now that I am older. Best wishes and set mini goal as you go! Karen
  6. Happy bandiversary and congratulations on you weight loss! Karen
  7. Hi ya'll! We haven't heard from anyone in awhile. Thought I would update. 1st of all, Happy Father's day to all you guys! It sure has been HOT down here. I gues that some of you folks in vacation areas are getting tourists; we here in Lakeland, have seen most of our Snowbirds go home. Its pretty quite here, now. I joined a bowling team to get more exercise and meet new people. We bowl on Sunday nights, so that is this evening. I went to the lapband surgoen's office on wed, and thoguht I needed afill. He said "no fill for you!' So, now, if I want to loose anymore weight, I need to go back to lowering my calorie intake. I admitt, I have been lazy about that recently. I want to loose about 10 lbs, and so I have to eat only 1100 cals a day. I do know what I was snacking on, so it won't be bad, just stay away from triggers!! Well I hope to here from others, best wishes!! Karen
  8. Good luck! I use benefiber, too. But, sometimes I need a stool softner. I just found, that after a fill, or at least the surgeon messing with the band, I end up with constipation for a day or two. I had a visit on Wed. He tried to give me a fill, but found out, that I was at the top of where I can be to have even liquids pass, so I did not get a fill. But, I had 2 days of problems following that. (By the way, I can't have anymore than 5 cc or even barium won't pass through!) Karen
  9. Here's a plus side, the "bad" for you food, all it takes is a little bite, and then mostly you are satisfied. I share with friends or relatives if I just have to have a bite. best wishes. Karen
  10. I had aslip, which sounds liek what you have. Seek another opinion, as Jachut said. It sounds very serious. How you doing, now? Take care, and best wishes for an answer and feeling better. Karen
  11. happy onderland to all ! Karen
  12. Dear Brebre, I,also, don't want this band! I need this band! Without it I am a 255 lb woman wearing size 22-24 dresses or bottoms, and 3x tops. I looked like someone's grandma, which I am. But, with it, I am wearinga size 8, and my husband called me his trophy wife the other day! My grandson saw an older picture of me, and asked who that was, he did not know the "fat" lady in the picture! Without the lapband, I can't ride the rides at the amusement parks that I go to with my grands, and I can't comfortably sit in movie seats, plane seat, etc. I tried Weightwatchers, it was okay, I lost 20% of my weight. But, took a vacation, and since I did not have a band, gained 20 lbs in 3 weeks. Boohoo. I am NOT a good dieter, I need the help of restriction because I don't have the discipline to stay on a diet long enough to loose the weight I needed to. For me, it is and was the only thing!! I don't like the band, I love the band and need the band to survive, and most of the people on here are like that. Stay strong, soon you will be able to eat hamburgers, if you want, I don't eat them, no appetite for them. They do look yummy, but it is not anything I want anymore. I got banded Oct 30, 2009. I am 63 years old and happier than I have been in many, many years! Good luck, and best wishes for your future as you journey bandland! Karen
  13. Had a laugh lastnight. My 5 year old grandson was looking at portraits of our family before my kids were married. He recognized Papa, Uncle, and Mommy, but wanted to know who that woman was sitting next to Papa! I had blond hair, wore glasses and was about 70 lbs heavier then! He was not as amused as the rest of us were! I guess I have truly changed my looks as he did not know me. Woohoo for me! Karen
  14. Wow! Best wishes! Karen
  15. My surgeon has me on 2 days clear liquids and 2 days full liquids. i know a lot of surgeons are not that strict. But try staying on liquids for a day or 2. Nutriionist, also, says that cottage cheese is not mushy, it is a real food. Might be too much after a fill and getting sick episode! Best wishes. Karen
  16. You ladies do sound like you already have the summer doldrums. This made me laugh and it is on 7:45 am here. No, the song would be not rigth with the new title. we all know "fat-bottomed girl" here, too! And I so agree with AHummingbird, I think of flip-flops as thongs, too. would never say that now-a-days tho'. I have had to get used to calling them flip-flops or sandals. Everything, here, in Florida is either flip-flops or sandals in the summer, except for bowling shoes!! Good day, Ladies! Karen
  17. Very cool! I have never had that happen to me, but my son(who had surgery in Aug 2011) had to not ride Harry Potter at Universal Studios, but has since gone back and ridden it! Congrats for your NSV!!Karen
  18. I have supplemental insurance, with what Medicare paid and my insuracne(Aetna), my portion is $5.00.
  19. Yes, take it very easy. My surgeon has us on clear liquids for about a week. But, anyway, make sure that your liquids are that! Don't try to eat anything that is lumpy. And(by the way), my surgeon says that cottage cheese is not a liquid or a mushy, it is a solid. Just go slowly, you will soon be able to take in more liquids. Sip, sip, sip, all day long on liquid stage, you will not over eat!!!! Good luck, Karen
  20. Yeah!!Bet you look and feel awesome! Karen
  21. I agree with elcee. I would try something bubbly early and see if you can sip it and tolerate it. You should be able to drink th e"sparly" if you sip slowly!! Best wishes on your upcoming marriage! I bet you will look smashing in your wedding dress! Karen
  22. CALL YOUR SURGEON THIS MORNING,ASAP! Vomtting, real vomitting, can cause a slip and damage your band. Your surgeon can check it. You might need to go in, but you probably don't have any fill so it might not be too bad. Drink clear liquids and take care. Karen
  23. You can do it, you have a great attitude! Best wishes and God bless you! Karen
  24. Best wishes, here's hoping to see "less" of you soon!!Welcome to :the band" and keep us updated on your journey! Karen
  25. Wonderful! How inspiring! You have doen a wonderful job and should be very proud! Best wishes! and may I add, YOU LOOK GREAT! Karen
