Try colace or milk of magnesia. Constipation is totally normal.

Drink Metamucil in the evening when your band is not as tight.

For immediate relief you can't beat mineral oil and phillips milk of mag. And, the taste isn't really that bad.

Eat more fruit and veg and grains

HI!

I have had my band for almost 3 years. I had all the fill removed for almost a year (I had breast cancer) and it is now all filled up, again!!! Glad it is - didn't realize how much it helped until it wasn't "in use" for that time period!! ANYWAY......I have had ongoing problems with constipation ever since I was banded. I've tried the "drink more water", "more fiber", "Activia yogurt"-got so my dog enjoyed it more then I did :D , etc., etc. - it helped just a little bit. What works for me is to take a stool softener every morning and a SENOKOT every other night. It is true that with the band we do not get as much fiber, so I mix Benefiber into my first drink of "whatever" in the morning. Before I got into this routine, I was very miserable (and MUCHO sore!!!) :( - I would sometimes not be able to "go" for 3 days or so..........and it was like sharp, jagged rocks!!!! (OUCH!)... Took some experimental time, but this seems to work O.K. for me!!! YEAH!!!! Good Luck!

Good luck! I use benefiber, too. But, sometimes I need a stool softner. I just found, that after a fill, or at least the surgeon messing with the band, I end up with constipation for a day or two. I had a visit on Wed. He tried to give me a fill, but found out, that I was at the top of where I can be to have even liquids pass, so I did not get a fill. But, I had 2 days of problems following that. (By the way, I can't have anymore than 5 cc or even barium won't pass through!) Karen

Thank you for all the tips guys

I wasn't regular even before the surgery. Afterwards i would easily go 4-5 days without going. I tried stool softeners and they did nothing. I tried Miralax powder and struck gold. A capful in any liquid once daily and I am finally regular for the first time in my life.
