  1. That's great news!!:wink2:
  2. Welcome Tracy, I am getting banded on the 25th. Are you excited? I can't wait, i'm on the optifast shakes for the next week and thats going pretty good so far. :wink2: I hope all goes good for you, good luck and let us know how it's going for you.
  3. Oh, I failed to mention I have 5 other people in my house. My husband and 4 kids, ages 14,16,18,21. So there's food every where and i don't touch any of it. Good luck!
  4. I'm going through the pre-op liquide diet now (opti-fast) and it's hard, but not imposible. I don't like it, but it's for a week and a half (some had to do it for longer). I keep thinking about what's at the end of all this, and it's worth it. Good luck and let me know how it goes, my date is November 25th, it will be here before I know it.
  5. I have my band date on Nov. 25th, and the day of surgery i'm on all clear liquides. From day two -seven it's pureed/ mushie foods, then i'm on to stage 3 foods which is no starches, breads ect... I could not imagine doing liquides for weeks after surgery. It's hard enough drinking all these protein shakes for a week and a half before. But I know at the end of this I start my new journey to a healthier me. Good luck, I agree "why are there different diets with different dr's?"
  6. Congrats, hope you get to feeling better soon.
  7. Great job Joe for starting it back up again, it could happen to any of us. Keep us updated on how it's going, I hope you reach your goal.
  8. Welcome Bobbijo, I am doing my pre-surg. diet. I just got off of the 1200 cal. and am now on my opti-fast. I had to lose 15lbs in 3 weeks for my surgery and I have lost 14.4 and still have a week and a half to go. It was'nt bad at all(the 1200 cal.) and from what I see in my support class the people who are already on shakes are doing good. I look at it as being one more step to my goal, a healthier me. The more I lose now the less I have on "the other side". It had me worried as well when they told me I had to lose 15 in 3.5 weeks, but after my first few days it got easier and easier. Good luck and I hope it goes smooth for u, let us all know how you're doing.
  9. Congrats to both of you on your weight loss so far. I am a little less than two weeks out from surgery, I am pumped and ready. I wish you both the best and please update us and let us know how it went, I love to read the updates and see how everyone is.
  10. Welcome and congrats on your band. I have two weeks left and I can't wait to start my new journey. How are you doing so far? Anything that you didn't expect? Well I hope you find your way around the sight, it's full of info and great people who have been there and done that( if you know what I mean). So if you have questions...ask away, someone on here will know the answer, or where to get it. Good luck.
  11. Congrats girl, it's great to hear how good you're doing.
  12. I have my date, it's November 25th. I'm on my pre-op diet, I start my shakes and protein bars this friday. I have about 2 weeks left and i'm excited. You'll be there before you know it.:tongue_smilie:
  13. Hey Heidi, good luck with your first appt. The quickest way to find some one who has had a specific dr. is go up to Bandsters and click then put in all the info (state, country, dr. name ect...). That will bring up all the people who listed him as their dr. Good luck again, let us all know how it goes.:tongue2:
  14. Congrats Cent, I know you're excited. :wub::w00t::smile2:
  15. It took abou 2 weeks for me to get approved from the time I went to the seminar to hearing from insurance. I'm getting banded on the 25th, the surgeon who is doing mine was booked till then. Other wise I could have been done over a month and a half ago, the waiting on the surgery has sucked as well. :w00t: Good luck again, we're all waiting to hear good news. :wink2:
  16. Welcome and congrats , I agree with savanasmama, you can do it and you will be that healthier you in no time. My BMI is 43 and I know I have a long road ahead. But with the help from my band I know I will get there. I have my running shoes on and I'm ready, how about you? :cursing:
  17. In my group of people getting banded, we have at least 4 that is over the age of 50. I htink a couple of them are over 60. They seem to be doing great on the shakes and exercising so far. It's never too late to do something for you.
  18. It's so good to see that your getting better. Is the gas pains gone? I think after reading everyones posts about the gas pain, I dread that the most. :cursing: I have 2 1/2 weeks left til my band and i'm ready.
  19. Welcome Paigey, Congrats on the approval. I think that is the worst part, waiting to hear from ins. The rest of your testing and things will go fast, just remember what the end result of all this is. Good luck.
  20. Thanks Amy, I'm getting my band in 2 1/2 weeks and this is a great way to know what to expect. And to know that I'm not alone in my struggles and feelings.
  21. Welcome Kristal, well I hope they approve you. I think waiting to hear from the insurance is the worst. Just the not knowing and waiting to see what else you have to do to reach your goal. Let us know how it goes.
  22. Congrats to u on everything, it's great to read all your posts and see that at the end you'r where you want to be. I wanted to share my story with you about my thyroid nightmare. I had a nodule on my right thyroid last year, it was making me choke on food and i had a raspy voice. They took samples from it to see if it was cancer, and it came back negative. They left it up to me if I wanted to have them taken off, I wanted them out (because of the choking). Well when the Dr. got in to take them out my thyroid was gray in spots and he removed the thyroid. When tested it came back cancer. So I went in a month later and had the other side (thyroid) removed. So good luck and ask alot of questions.
  23. Hi New, what questions do u have. I'm getting banded this month and am going through the steps before surgery. Are you thinking of getting the band, are you already excepted to do the surgery, do you have a date? What questions do you have...there will be someone on here who can answer what ever it is that you have questions about.
  24. Congrats...I'm getting banded on the 25th as well. November is going to be a great month.
