  2. Welcome Carolina, I am getting banded on November 25th...so welcome and good luck, keep us updated.
  3. I went and was weighed yesterday, and you were right, I did lose 8.7 lbs. I'm sure most of it was water weight, but I'll take it. I now have 7 lbs to lose in 3 weeks...I know I can do it. Thanks for all the encouragement and support, I have my running shoes on.
  4. Well good luck and I hope u hear from them soon...the waiting sucks. Keep us up to date and let us know.
  5. I'm so happy for u...I look at how all of u are doing and it just motivates me even more. I went today and lost 8.7 lbs. I was so worried about 15 lbs. and here I lost more than half in two days. I know alot of it is water weight...but I'll take it. Please keep us updated, I hope u get to feeling better soon.
  6. I hope they as well stand behind u, I am sure they will. And if not at least u have a great support system from the rest of ur family. Well keep me updated on ur journey, it's exciting, stressful, overwhelming all in one.
  7. Congrats and welcome...can't wait to hear updates about how ur doing
  8. Hey Jess, I too am on the pre-op diet, my doc requires it for surgery. I have to lose 15 pounds in 3 1/2 weeks, my band date is 11/25/09. I'm terrified I wont be able to make it. But I got some really good ideas from people who have been through this before (here at lapbandtalk). Just keep going girl, it's all going to be worth it in the end. Let us know how it's going, good luck.
  9. Thanks for all ur ideas, I think I am going to do this 1200 cal. diet for one week, see how I do then go to the shakes. I'm going to buy some Muscle Milk and substitute breakfast with that. Wish me luck, I will be devastated if I have to re-schedule my surgery because of not losing enough weight.
  10. I went today for my pre-op apt. and did the taste test and placed my order for shakes and bars. Well at the end of the whole thing they told me I would be on a 1200 cal. diet until the week before my surgery, then I would be on the shakes. But they want me to lose 15 pounds in 3 1/2 weeks. :scared2: I have never lost that much in such a short amount of time, and if it's not lost I get re-scheduled. I could go on the shakes sooner if I choose...I guess my question is, has any-one else had to lose that much in such a short time and can it be done? I'm second guessing my-self and thinking maybe I should opt. to start the shakes sooner.
  11. Good luck Shannon, let me know how it goes for u. I know ur ready to start ur new journey.
  12. Welcome Ashley, I hope you find the answers to all your questions, you picked a great place to look.
  13. Good luck, I hope you hear from the Ins. soon, the waiting is the worse. I too get banded in November, on the 25th, I too chose then because of time off from school. Let us know how it's going.
  14. Hoping all is good with you, let us know how it went.
  15. Thanks for the tips :cursing: I go tomarrow and have my consultation and start my 1200 calorie diet, then in two weeks I do the shakes. I hope it goes quick and I pray I meet my goals of weight loss that the Dr. sets ( for pre-op). I'm excited and ready, wish me luck!!:cursing:
  16. Congrats, good luck on your journey.

  18. Well I hope it all goes well, it will all be worth it in the end. I drive about 45 minutes to where my Dr. and hospital are. My Dr. is wonderful and very well know for doing the band, I feel very blessed that all has went smooth for me. I take it not alot of people get banded in Newfoundland? Well I hope you do have a new surgeon close by, that would be great. Please let me know how things are going for u, I'll keep u in my thoughts and prayers. :wink2:
  19. Good luck Kristen, I hope all goes well for you. I am one month away from being banded and I can't wait already . Let us all know how ur doing.
  20. I as well had no problem getting approved. My BMI is 41, I have Lumenos BC/BS. I as well did'nt have to do a 6 month diet or any of that. Good luck and I hope it goes well.
  21. Great job...I get my band on November 25th and I pray I get results that good. Keep up the great work!!
  22. Good luck Heather. The seminars are a great way to get info, and so are support group meetings. This sight is awesome as well, I just came across it last week and love it. I just started my journey in July and am getting banded November 25th, it was a breeze for me as well. Keep in touch let us all know how ur doing.
  23. Congrats...one step closer to your goal.
  24. Don't feel bad Lisa, you'll find alot of us who feel the same way u do. I too am 5'10''-5'11", and i'm @ 290. I have joint pains, knee problems, gurd ect... I too should be @ 170-180lbs. After going to the seminars and researching and talking to people who have had the band, I know this is the best thing I could ever do for me. Like u I have a family and get caught up with what THEY need and want. Well this is for me, I want to play volly-ball again, go hiking and just shop for cute clothes again. Good luck and I hope you find what's best for YOU. The seminars, support groups and this sight are the best way to get answers.
  25. You have hit it right on for alot of us Tina, we all are there or have been there. I too am tall and carry my weight to where people don't know what my real weight is. I work with full day kindergartners and it's all I can do to stand all day and keep up with them. I have to have a badge with my pic on it, and I hate it. I hate what I let myself get to. I'm getting my band on November 25th, I start my pre-op Tuesday. Good luck and I hope ur journey is a good one.
