But we all need carbs to give us energy to exercise...so basically she wants you on the sugar buster diet with the band.... Nuts are very high in dietary fiber, and are one of the best plant sources of protein. Yes they are high in fat, but it good fat. the kinds that helps lower cholesterol One of my favs is the planters Almonds... cocoa and cinnamon. They are awesome.... My husband loves the chipolata (don't know if i spelled that right) ones. Just curious.... what did the "old" nutritionist say? Mine never said anything about no nuts or only carbs from fruits and veggies.... Good luck with all that. If i could have stuck with the "sugar buster" "Atkins" diets... i would not have needed the band....lol

College life and the Band- Good in theory, not in practice.
I like them.... you can buy just one and try it. So when i started my journey i purchased this small travel blender. It worked perfect. I still use it all the time. Also, sometimes if you go the a local health store, if you purchase their protein powder they will give you one of those cups with the metal ball in it... I personally don't care for it. i have at least 6 at home. I like the electric one because i like to blend in fruit and ice and yogurt (reg. not fat free) with my p.powder. but again i have to drink fast or i can forget it... after it warms up i throw it away. This is why the liq. shot works great for me. I know exactly what i got and what i still need to get. Wow.... Elizabeth you have a lot on your plate... (by the way... Elizabeth is my fav. name). If it's with in your budget, GNC has this MuscleMeds CARNIVOR™- Liquid Protein Shots - Power Punch about $30 for12 shots. It is great. Taste like fruit... sometimes i mix mine in a glass of Hawaiian punch. 50 grams. of protein. The other 30 you will get thru out the day.... take it anytime of the day. I normally drink my coffee first and this loosens up my band and thin i chug the shot... Hope this help... Good luck with everything.

I have a question..... why do you have to cut out all nuts and carbs except for the veggies? I eat nuts and some carbs other than veggies...... and 100grams of Protein? Mine says 80..... hummm... something sounds not quite right. Can you tell me why.... i'm always up for learning.

Round 2
Good job you guys...... Oddly enough holidays is when i lost weight... i think it was because i put myself in check and became more aware of the "crap" i was putting in my mouth... I went straight for the Green bean cass, mashed pot., carrots, etc.... ham.... and stayed away from my most favorite part.... the BREAD... By the time i ate my veggies and ham... i was done... I also didn't do any of the cooking..... as i tend to eat while i cook and fall away from monitoring.... you know... tasting and sampling... So have someone else do the cooking or go out for dinner. My trick to dinning out...... THE GO BOX..... i ask to have one brought with my meal.... i put my portion out and box everything else... put it away and my husband eats it later or the next day. Or i ask for Half portions...or kids... although most of the "kids" options are not healthy. Remember..... one day at a time..... one pound at a time..... Good luck

negatives all around....
OMG.... i would so have a hard time containing my self with your sister in law.... sounds to me like she is just jealous of you. Probabilities are she will gain the weight back plus some..(as we all have in the past). To be honest, i would not have been so nice on FB.... i would have taken that opportunity to set her and her "friend" straight as to how hard WLS really is. Lets see her have the will power to not eat a hamburger on bun with fries, popcorn, Philly steak sandwich,.... etc... or eat with out concentrating on every bit and chewing till your jaw hurts, not drinking with your meals.......you get the point. The band is just a tool, you can use it as it was designed for or you can choose not too. You can join weight watchers and choose to count points or not too..... you can buy the jenny craig and choose not to eat them..... I can't... i can't eat a lot of thing that i use to enjoy... but it ok, this is what i sighed up for... and i would do it again in a heartbeat if i had too. I wish you all the continued success in your "shrinkage"... Your just desert will be strutting around in your size 8-10 jeans... and looking all hot. By the way, your kids are adorable....

Round 2
Don't be so hard on yourself..... tons of people get the band and learn how to eat around it... My sister in law and my cousin have both learned and have not lost weight. But you know the old saying..... you can lead a horse to Water but you can't make him drink.... You are in control and only you. The trick is to get that out of your head and get back on track. You went thru all the test and the surgery to better your health. Now take advantage of it.... Start by identifying your comfort foods that you go too. I'm not going to tell you to stop them, but take your few bites and put it away.... i know my down falls and one of them is ice cream.... so i buy the Blue Bell cups and i have one a night (if I want it). I still drink my mt dew... and i will buy the bites size candies and allow myself one if i'm craving chocolate.... In the morning i put out my crackers and two wedges of laughing cow cheese and i snack on that all morning. At lunch i eat a potato or chili from wendys or tuna.... with crackers.... supper is kind of up in the air... last night i ate some fried Oysters... very crispy.... later i was still hungry so i ate some Cereal. No one is perfect...... it's impossible to do this 100% correct all the time..... one day at a time.

Round 2
You can do this..... we all have faith in you. You just have to believe in your self and that you deserve to reach your goal. Start at the beginning again.... find what made you desire this change in the first place. Maybe you were not ready back then, but you are now.... think positive. One pound lost is a positive step forward...... keep on stepping forward......

Chewing gum
i know, she has done great with the LB and is an inspiration to me... she was my confidant thru my surgery. No one else at work knew i was having the surgery. If not for her i probably would still be 223lbs...or more by now. All the best to you....
-
Chewing gum
my dr said NO!! GUM!! In fact my friend how had LB the year before me is the reason he tells us all not to chew it. For him it was not so much the gas, but because she swallowed it and it got stuck.... he had to remove all the fill for it to go thru and have her go back a few days later to put it back in. So now... his rule.... no gum. i'm not a gum chewer so... no problem for me.

Why do hide our decision about our weight surgery?
im kind of in the middle... sometimes it just comes out and some times not..... most of the time i say i watch what i eat and exercise. Which is true. I find i have an easier time telling the waitress than a friend.... crazy i know. At first i told people and got tired of "the look".... you know the "you took the easy way out" look. And if i get that, i jump into action and set them straight on how hard this really is.... Good luck..

Too Many Frustrated Lapbanders!
skinny.... this is your journey and only you can decide if you will succeed or fail. Some people will have you believe that its a "magic bullet" and it takes no effort at all. That you will get the band and the magic LB fairy will sprinkle fairy dust and wow.... your thin. Some say.... i never watch what i eat and i never exercise and i still lost weight..... well good for them. You wouldn't join weight watchers and not count the points, or nutra-system and not eat the food, or get diet pills and not take them..... Get the point. I will go out on a limb her and say that the "majority" of us had to work really hard to lose the weight. We watch what we eat and exercise. Because that's what our doctor tells us is the best way to work your tool. Does the band ALWAYS work.. no. Does it work for the majority of us....YES. Will you have days of "why did i do this".... yes. Will you have days when you wake up and think..... THANK GOD FOR MY LB........ YES. Make sure you listen to your doctor and to your tool. Go to the support groups and listen to them also. I say go in with the I CAN attitude and you WILL defeat your weight. I hope you all the success in the world. Hope to see LESS of you soon.....lol LIVE IN THE POSITIVE!!!!!

Waking up THIN!!!
Texas.... you should really go to the dr. and asked for a check up. You may need to be taken off the BPP. Wouldn't that be great. I so completely understand your feelings. I think eating more may help you. I know i didn't feel the concept either till later and when i noticed i lost more the more good things i ate. Not bad things like Ice Cream.. (which i love more than anything)... bad chips and candy.... so i started eating more whole grains and cheese... My favorite snack is Laughing Cow cheese wedge and CrunchMaster Multi grain crackers... But i still love the ice cream and if i could get away from that i would have been at goal by now. But being light headed and dizzy is diffidently not good. Please go see your doctor. Has anyone noticed your weight loss yet? I tell you i didn't feel like i was accomplishing anything, but people were noticing the weight loss... too bad i didn't see it. To be honest, i still don't see it in the mirror or in pictures. I know i look better because people tell me so, but when i look at pictures.... i still see FAT...flabby stomach YUCK. I bet you are doing better than you think.... please don't give up. Keep the faith... this will work for you. Going to post pictures of this weekend..... I still look heavy to me even at 143.... Crazy...

Waking up THIN!!!
i do understand your frustration.... I was what they called a "slow loser" here's how my weight loss went: Starting weight: 223.2 9/24/09 Surgery: 11/9/09 fellow up visit: 11/19/09 lost 22.4 pounds.... two week diet and right after 12/10/09 one month lost 4.2 lbs 1/7/10 lost 3.2lbs 1/28/10 lost 4.9lbs 2/18/10 lost 1.9lbs 3/4/10 lost 2.3lbs 3/25/10 lost 2.3lbs 5/6/10 lost 4.3lbs 11/10/11 lost 17.7lbs.... my one year visit.... I was at 160lbs.... total lose 63.2lbs for the year. Some people lose that in the first couple months.... yes i was discouraged, but i keep thinking, every pound gone is a pound gone forever.... that's what kept me motivated.... average lost was 5.2lbs per month. My dr. only gave 6 free fill or one year which ever came first. Lost my insurance so after the six i had to pay $235 per fill....i have not been back to my dr. in almost a year... and in the year i have lost from 160 to 140-143... I really need a fill, but, i can't afford it now.... so have to do it on my own and be patient... 1lb a month, but i'll take it..... i'm 13 pounds from my goal of 130lb. I didn't feel any restriction to fill number 5.... so i self monitored and stopped my self from over eating, because at that point i still could..... i also started exercising more and that really helped... Zumba... was a huge thing for me. Keep the faith.... you will do this... you have to find the combination that works for you.... i found on the days i ate more i lost more... go figure... I wish you all the best..

I WANT ..............
I still drink one 8oz can of Mt. Dew..... sorry i have given up a lot of things, but this won't be one of them. I talked to my dr. about it and he said although it's not great idea to drink soda, it's not the worst thing either. I drink on it all day.... small sips, but never with a meal. I know, if i only drink that small amount why not give it up all together.... I have tried.. and maybe one day, just not now. But good luck to you.. and happy shrinkage..

Tanning bed
jay... i used a tanning bed most of the summer and i didn't notice anything. But i didn't lay on my stomach because the port hit the glass. Fixing to start back... will make an effort to monitor that. after all tan fat looks better than white fat......lol
-
Big Boobies!!!
hehehehehe !!!!! Muscles.....

Big Boobies!!!
jay... i feel your pain... literally..... down to a size 6 pants, the the bra is still the 36FF. I would love to have a reduction, but my hubby is giving me a fit. i told him, how would he feel if he had to carry around 10lbs of n*ts you wouldn't like it.... he just laughed. Well good luck to you and continued shrinkage.....

Waking up THIN!!!
Good.... so glad to be on your ignore list..... i'm sure some others would like you to do the same to them. if you don't want to hear it any more then don't read my post...... its people like you that make others believe that LB is a cake walk for EVERYONE... it's not. Glad you got to take the "easy way out".... with not watching what you eat or exercising... good for you.. and i don't have a superior attitude...90% of anything i post is to boost the esteem of others. I've read a few of yours and it seems maybe the superior attitude is all yours....

Ladies .....Maybe a stupid question but
im the same as Chrissy.....size G and i didn't wear one because one of my incisions was right on top of it. No problems now, but i have to say that on some days when i wear a bra that is tighter around my chest, i can feel better restriction... go figure. Nichole it what ever your comfortable with....Hope you all be best of luck with your surgery.
-
Big Boobies!!!
Patyann..... i completely agree with you.... even at my smallest (size 0-3 in my twenties) i still had 36D...... but as the weight came on so did more boobs. My biggest bra size was a 44G, lost about 50 and bra changed to a 38H... yes went up a cup size..... now at 83lbs lost in almost two years.... i'm at a 36FF........... shirt size went from 2xl to a large for the most part. Good luck

Waking up THIN!!!
i do watch what i eat and exercise....i'm grateful that i do. My skin is going back nicely. and if something should happen to my band, i can live with out it because i have learned how to adjust my eating. My problem areas have nothing to do with not exercising it has to do with having c-sections, hysterectomy g-bladder surgery and others.... But other than that, if i had never met you before you would never know to look at me that i was almost 230lbs.... and i credit that to the exercising. so good luck to all that don't watch what they eat and never exercise.... hope you all the best.
