  1. Of course the port can flip and does flip but it`s easily rectified. Sorry it happened to you.
  2. Glad you`re post-op and doing well. I don`t think bariatric surgeons usually call to find out how you`re doing after discharge. Your dentist and doctor are brilliant. I don`t get that aftercare. Although I have to mention that the bariatric nurse who assisted in the op came to see me personally but I think it was mainly for taking me through the post-op process more than checking up on me. Good luck with the rest of your journey.
  3. Lesson learnt now. Don`t beat yourself too much, just pick yourself up and move on. You have to keep to liquids for a day or two to rest your pouch. The tenderness will settle soon. Good luck for the rest of your journey.
  4. Happy bandversary. Congrats on your maintenance routine. superb, quite inspirational. You`re looking great.
  5. I can`t offer any advice in regards to the amount of food because I`m not familiar with the sizes of the nuggets. I will however say that you`ve got some restriction because if you are lasting 6-7 hours in-between meals then that`s pretty good. Furthermore, over 40lbs weightloss since June is not bad at all. It`s really great! You`re doing great. Keep up the good work. Try restricting yourself to a single portion of food, keep it healthy and exercise and you will be alright. Congrats on the weight loss so far.
  6. Sorry to be the bearer of bad, sad and heart breaking news. It breaks my heart to report that we have lost our dear Astrasmom. She did not survive the heart op. I`m extremely emotional this morning. I screamed and wailed after receiving the message from her darling husband. Dawn will be dearly missed. She passed away on the 27th of August in the hospital. The op was scheduled for the previous Wednesday. Dawn`s husband reported that they held a memorial service for her last saturday and about 200 people attended. Dawn`s husband reported that she loved her lapband. My condolences to the family. I wish them peaceful existence since this could be heart breaking for them.
  7. Okiegirl, hun my guess is that the bread has gone down already and you`re dealing with the swearing. Your best bet is to go on liquid for a day or two before trying solids again. This will give the pouch an opportunity to heal. You`re fortunate not to experience a stuck in 10mths. good achievement!
  8. Of course not, hun. Well done on your achievement. Keep up the good work.
  9. Try ordinary ice cubes and sip, sip, sip. It`s a learned behaviour and 9 months into my op, I still forget myself and sometimes gulp. The quensequence of that is not pleasant. I`ve also found that drinking any sweetened liquid does not cut it so if you can stand still water, keep to it. Good luck.
  10. I had my surgery on the 20th and went to work on the 22nd of the same month but as it has already been mentioned we all recover differently and have different pain threshold as well. Good luck with the rest of your journey.
  11. You are definitely too tight. You don`t want to suffer unnecessarily. I should know. Please go for unfill.
  12. Leigh, you`re doing so well, keeping to the cross training. I actually would have joined you but can`t locate the the site through the link to register. I hope that you keep the routine up because it could be that you`ve just retained Water. Is it not that time of the month? I really don`t think that you would have gained such a high level of muscles within two weeks. My advice will be that you keep up with the exercise but keep your calorie intake stable. Saying that I really don`t believe that eating up to 1400 calories a day should put weight on you, considering the amount of calories one has to consume to gain a lb. Don`t be too discouraged, hun. You will be alright if you keep up the good work.
  13. Bragging is an understatement. You should be doing the happy dance as well. Well done, Girl. Congrats and thanks for being such an inspiration.
  14. So sorry to read about your loss, hun. You remain in my thoughts.
  15. Just touching base. Hope you`re all doing well and melting away. The weight loss has been pretty slow but steady for me, about 1lb a week. That`s ok though. I`m well restricted now so I hope to go a bit further by October. Can`t wait to reach goal. Have an enjoyable summer.
  16. On this isde of the pond, mothers` day was in March but I will join yours and hope to lose about 10lbs by then. I will weigh myself tonight.
  17. You don`t necessarily have to give up chocolate but may be you need to monitor the intake. You appear to be doing all the right things though apart from the "sweet" issue. Hang in there, hon.
  18. Joining you in your happiness. You look great, hun. Congrats.
  19. The weight loss is extremely slow but I`ve lost 28lbs now. I`ve already had 2 fills and have got 5.5cc in a 10cc band but I have no restriction at all. I`m still following the band rules though, however difficult. I`m going to have a 3rd fill on Friday. Hopefully the 3rd one will be the one that gives me some restriction. Good luck to all of us on this journey.
  20. Hun, I was not offended at all, I just could not remember including "fair" / "unfair" in my postings and spent a lot of time re-reading my postings. LOL. Life has a habit of taking us through these journeys. Wishing you all the best.
  21. TracyNYC, as you pointed out, it is hard work trying to lose the weight without restriction. Hun, it should not be an issue of fairness / unfairness. Thanks for your contribution. Sorry to hear about your mother`s suffering and death. Hope you are granted the peace required to be able to deal with the pain. I`m sure the people of Haiti are grateful that they are all in our thoughts, prayers and considerations.
  22. What a bunch of lovely people. ElfiePoo, Minimeme, Larraine M, ymjackson1 and Cassieme1, thanks a lot for your comments and advice. Quite helpful. I`m going to be careful with what I eat and get my exercise routine going. I guess if this strange thing in my tummy does not want to play ball at the moment, I have to keep going and try to be kind to myself. I guess I have to work harder that I thought possible with the band.
  23. Juliensmom, Thanks for you response. It gets quite frustrating when you do all that is expected of you but do not appear to be getting anywhere. I will restrain myself from goingon any specific diet until my next fill and discussion with the bariatric nurse / surgeon. I`m hoping that the next fill gives me some form of restriction because as you said, I am currently doing all the work. The band is just not working at the moment. I think a little bit of patience is required. Good luck with your weight loss journey and I will keep you informed of my progress.
  24. I am seriously considering going on a diet and do not know whether it is a good decision. I have been banded for 3 months now and have had 2 fills already, totalling 5.5cc in a 10cc band. My next fill will be on January, 29th. I`m yet to feel restricted and this is somehow frustrating. I`m following all the rules that come with the band and have so far lost 28lbs. I`ve learnt to “throw away” the scales and only weigh myself once a month and as far as I know the scale has never gone the wrong way since the op. I`m not one to compare the pace of my weight loss with others` but I cannot help comparing the pace with my previous extreme weight loss sessions. I would have lost more than twice this weight in 3 months. The unfortunate aspect is that I was then unable to maintain the loss when I came off the diet. One of the diets consisted of milkshakes, soups and bars. The 2nd one consisted of only protein based foods. I`m sure most yo-yo dieters know of these diets. The question I am asking myself now is do I go on a diet whilst I have not got any restriction and then fully utilise the band when I`ve reached my goal to maintain the loss or shall I wait for restriction? I also want to know whether anybody has done this and what effect, if any, it had on their band. I`m seriously struggling with this and need support and advice in this decision making.
  25. Wow, congrats on your weight loss so far. Hun, research indicates that only a handful of people get restriction with the 1st fill. I was banded a day before you did, have had 2 fills and still haven`t got restriction and have definitely not lost as much weight as you have. I think you`re due for another fill now since it does not sound that you are restricted.
