So you're just saying that because there were a couple of votes discrepcancy in the reporting that the news organizations mentioned are the worst mixture of both liars and bypocrites. HUH? Why is that? Because at some point a couple of votes were not reported on? Or what exactly makes these organizations the "worst mixture of liars and hypocrites? I am sorry I just don't understand.

ariscus, what is your point? You've posted a couple of accusatory comments, but to what end? Are you saying the Republicans DID vote for it and Cleo's got that part wrong? Or are you saying that because some Democrats didn't support it, that exonerates the Reublicans who also didn't? OR are you saying that the bill shouldn't have any support whatsoever? Please explain yourself. I'm very interested in what is motivating you.

loserb, I'm afraid you're right. You'd have thought with the Democrats otaining the office of the president and the majorities in house and senate, there would be no question that we could make real progress. But it's politics as usual in Washington. Forget reaching across the aisle. Forget honesty in the media. Forget everyone coming together to make a difference. Play dirty politics. Be obstructionists. Continue to pander to corporate America. I wish I were surprised.

Polls are so manipulatable (my own new word.) As we all know, the way questions are phrased in a poll has everything to do with the outcome. So those disclaimers are very important to pay attention to. Your valentine's day observation is an example of how easily assumptions are made based on incomplete information. But some people who love to accuse everyone of disagreeing with infomation they don't like, is quick to agree with information that they do like, whether there is any proof that the information is good or not. Something about the pot calling the kettle black... opps, my bad. I said black.

Sorry I was confused about your locale. I think a lot of people are wanting to talk about the health care situation. And everytime it comes up around me, people all agree that what we have is a mess and it needs to be changed drastically. I haven't talked to anyone who is happy with our system. There is one story after another about problems that people have had to deal with when they've needed health care and have been denied treatment or certain doctors or having to take generic meds that are actually sometimes quite different in composition than the name brand drug. Unfortunately I do not think that Washington hears about all the problems and disatisfaction from their constituents. You're smart to be so involved. It's the only power we have and our votes aren't for sale like some of our congressmen's votes are.

Did she want to have a serious discussion or just comment on how few and far between we are? Are you in Texas or am I making that up? I'm in north central Texas.

Poor Republicans in Texas. For governor they get to choose between Kay Bailey Hutchison and the gawd-awful Perry. They're duking it out on the airwaves and it is hilarious but sad at the same time. I am sure there are some blue pockets but they aren't in my 'hood. Sorry you had to give up your card group. I find it good for my brain. But I sure do get tired of hearing some of the women talking Rush Limbaugh bull$hite.

Cleo's, having that right next door is sorta frightening. It feels to me like they're a ticking time bomb. Loserbob: That's the problem with most of us (especially me.) We bite our tongue. We know that they will most probably go off and they're freakishly angry so we avoid confrontation. We should all become more outspoken I think because they seem to think their ideology is what the majority of Americans want. And they are wrong. But if we don't step it up, they will continue to believe that our president only represents a minority.

Tonight at the Bridge table, I kidded my partner about writing her bid on the palm of her hand. You could have heard a pin drop. She is the only other person in our 3 table group who is a Democrat. She's as quiet about it as I usually am. We were thinking of making our own group but we can't seem to find enough people to complete one table, much less three.

What's the difference who makes those decisions?" Huh? You're saying that we might have a choice between the government offering us insurance to cover our medical care and private insurers? Why would anyone choose private insurers if they had the choice? Private insurance companies are motivated to keep us from getting any kind of medical treatment or medications so that they can continue to make billions and billions of dollars. The government would not be similarly motivated. They are motivated to help the people in this country be as healthy as possible. We're all taxpayers and pay into the system and besides if we all die from inadequate health care, there will be no government. It's a no brainer. If you want us to believe that you can't see that, then it seems more like you just aren't being honest. I've read your posts and you seem intelligent enough to understand what is very uncomplicated logic about motivation and self-interest. I think you're just on the Republican bandwagon - the party of NO! The obstructionist party. The party that the insurance companies can depend on.
