  1. Great laugh! :scared0:
  2. My plan called for 1/2 cup three times a day on full liquids. I graduated yesterday to pureed foods. Up to 1/2 cup three times a day. It doesn't sound like much but it's ok.
  3. Welcome to the other side. I'm so happy that things went so well for you!
  4. Aww John, So sorry to read that you're feeling so weak. I think I've been getting in more protein so still feel ok. This morning I mixed 1 scoop of unflavored protein powder into a cup of chicken broth when I woke up. I needed that hit of 20 grams of protein. I just got back from a trip to Trader Joe's. I found some fresh salmon patties that are 4 oz each and 25 grams of protein each. Also found Buffalo Burgers in the frozen section that I remembered from Low Carb days. Each burger is 5 oz raw. 43 grams of protein each. Looks like two good meals per burger. I just search for the best hit of protein for each meal. I know you're adding more today so I hope you feel better John. Coco, Robin told me that it's not unusual to slow down in weight loss when you go to eating food so you're right on schedule and doing terrific. Whatever you're doing is working so hang in there. Look at your great ticker at 207. You're so close to Onederland! I'm so excited to go fix a salmon patty for lunch! Mo, I'm really sad to read that you're struggling. I know how hard you try. What can we do to help you get and stay on track?
  5. I haven't tried cacao yet as I'm too close post-op. That said, I may try some as well as raw maca once I'm healed.
  6. Good Morning everyone, Candra, sorry about your loss. I hope you're doing ok today. Pat and Tamra, you too really rocked the weightloss since your surgery. Big kudos to you both!! For anyone struggling who is close to the Kaiser Richmond, Bev reminded us at the meeting on Wednesday night that the therapist is there for anyone that is facing difficulty and needs to explore it one on one. I got to go to the post-op meeting for the first time. It was amazing how many people, both Band and RNY are struggling with sugar/carb cravings. I found the conversation very helpful because I don't think that I'll be unique or exempt from cravings when I'm futher out. So what do I hope to do to minimize the situation for myself? The first time I went vegan in 1989, (I was in OA) I also said "no sugar" in anything I eat. I read every label and if it was ingredient 7 or below, I could eat it. Higher than that was out. I did that for 9 years. After 9 years I started eating dairy and meat again but kept away from the sugar for several years more. For me personally, if I keep that sugar door locked, it's much easier than having one bite, then trying to quit obsessing about when the next bite will happen. I'm hoping to keep that door shut now as I go through this Sleeve recovery. Eating extremely low carb helps me because I don't get triggered. I've tasted almost every sweet thing in the last 50 years. I don't need to revisit them again. I had a great first day on pureed food yesterday. Robin cautioned me that my weightloss might slow down with pureed. I was delighted to wake up almost a pound down this morning. I kept it to 12 carbs and got in 49 protein. I'm hoping to up the protein today. This morning I discovered that 1/2 cup of cottage cheese still has my fingers feeling like little sausages this morning. Working from home today. Getting a haircut at noon. Looking forward to a walk today!
  7. Welcome Jen! Please keep us posted on how you're doing. You're going to love your new Sleeve!
  8. I will be cleared for pills at 1 month out. Right now I'm taking a very small Protonix pill by mouth. My other Vitamins are chew with the exception of B12 which is sublingual. Isn't it amazing how different every program is?
  9. I've done Atkins many times and remember those foot cramps. At bedtime, I took 1 Potassium pill as well as 1 calcium/magnesium and that seemed to do the trick for me. Yesterday was my first day on pureed food and I ate low-carb. Guess what showed up last night? Yup, the beginning of that cramping feeling. I feel for ya! My program calls for using Benefiber at two weeks post-op as needed. I tried it out pre-op. 2 teaspoons in a bottle of crystal light, tea, Water etc and golly it does a good internal cleaning job. As Stacy pointed out, you may be abdominal cramping from constipation. Please let us know how you're doing.
  10. I add some Toriani Sugar-Free Chocolate syrup to my chocolate shakes. It helps to up the chocolateyness of it.
  11. I'm so sorry you had that discomfort. It sounds awful! Congrats on being a month out with that incredible weightloss!! We're all so different. I've been able to gulp down Water or tea since around day 8. Sometimes I wonder if I even have a Sleeve, except that I saw pics of my worm looking Sleeve.
  12. I had surgery on Wednesday Feb 17th. I have a desk job and I'm 59 years old. I think age may play a difference in how quickly we heal. I started back to work from my home office on Tuesday Feb 23rd. I worked in spurts for the first few days and rested a lot. Monday Feb 22nd I started working 1/2 days at home and 1/2 in the office. Wednesday the 24th I upped it to working 11-5 in the office. I could have done full days easily all week but have the luxury to work from home as needed. Next week will be back to my usual routine of 8-5 in the office.
  13. My program calls for no snacking or supplementation. Three meals spaced 4-6 hours apart. That said, today is day 16 for me so I'll need to see what works best for me.
  14. I am always curious about what everyone is eating so I thought I'd give a sample menu. This is what I ate yesterday. I use Myfitnesspal.com to track my food. I was moved to pureed foods yesterday and I'm in heaven. Finally full after being really hungry for the last four days on full liquids. Here's what the format looks like in Myfitnesspal. My program calls for no Protein supplementation or snacking which is different than a lot of other plans. My surgery was Feb. 17th, so last Wednesday started my third week . I'm down 14.4 pounds since Surgery morning at Kaiser. Today my goal is to get in more protein, closer to 60. I found it really easy to eat pureed yesterday. I've been getting in 64 oz of fluids or more since day 5. We're all so different on this journey. I try really hard not to compare myself to anyone else. My Nutritionist on Wednesday told me to expect my weight loss to slow down now that I'm on Pureed. I'm visualizing it really getting going now that I'll have more energy! No need to put negative thoughts in there. 15. Mini, I'm going to follow your progress with this. I'm two weeks behind you and starting pureed food today. I've been hungry a lot the last 4 days so I'm curious to see how my first meal with sit with my Sleeve this morning.
  16. Hello and Welcome!! I had a fractured ankle on Thanksgiving 2007 and then major ankle surgery July 2008. I'm hoping that any residual pain will leave once I've let go of some weight. I'm only two weeks out so I don't have long range numbers but I can tell you that I'm down 13 pounds in two weeks. I've had no complications and love my Sleeve!
  17. We're all so different. I had to dump the Fuzzy Navel because I thought it was vile. I loved Chike pre-op and ordered big chocolate and orange tubs. Post-op they gave me severe runs. Muscle Milk Light is way too sweet post-op. Optimum Nutrition Rich Chocolate also gave me the runs for 5 days then on day 13 I could tolerate it. I think the whey really wreaked havoc with my system during the full liquid stage. I tried Isopure RTD post op and just the smell made me want to hurl. I mixed with soymilk so it wasn't milk causing intolerance. So please don't stock up on anything until you're post op. Get some sample packets to try once you're on full liquids. You may be very surprised at how sticky sweet everything tastes. I know... amazing that things can be too sweet!
  18. Analynn, having been recently Sleeved, I can only offer my personal opinion. The Sleeve doesn't require follow-up for fills and unfills. The results for the Sleeve are as good or better than the RNY. The Sleeve is made from the muscular part of the stomach so that it should not stretch the way that the RNY pouch does. The Sleeve doesn't have malabsorption the way that RNY does so once the Sleeve is healed and you've lost your weight, you can eat anything in small amounts if that's what you choose to do. Kaiser has the same eating plan, regardless of the surgery. I would be happy to answer any questions if you PM me. Also, I would suggest checking out our sister website.. verticalsleevetalk.com or go to Obesityhelp.com and find the Sleeve forum to ask questions. I love my Sleeve!
  19. While on full liquids, I could easily eat 6 oz of plain yogurt. I've been hungry a lot. I guess it's so different for us all. :w00t:
  20. Welcome to VST! I'm so glad you're speaking up. I had my Sleeve on February 17th at Kaiser Richmond. Your process sounds similar to mine. Are you at the SSF Kaiser? You're up for surgery in a week. Stay close and check in with us to let us know how you're doing both pre-op and then post-op. Post your questions and concerns so that we can support you and Celebrate you.
  21. I like Fage, Oikos and siggi's which seems to be new on the market. I think the Oikos is the creamiest and least tangy.
  22. Diane, I'm moving to pureed foods tomorrow. I too had a hernia repair with my sleeve on the 17th. I'll let you know how I do. So far I haven't had any problems in the full liquid stage. We can compare notes!
  23. Oh YAY!! My NUT moved me to pureed foods starting tomorrow! I'm quite excited to get more nutrition. PNW, I understand hungry. I got hungry on day 10 and I've been that way since. I started getting a little afraid that I would be one of the hungry ones, then realized that on pureed I'll start feeling full again. The funny thing is that regardless of how hungry I got, 1/2 cup of greek yogurt and I was full. I think it's great that you're re-evaluating your eating and will give you sleeve time to heal.
  24. I'm on Protonix. I never had reflux prior to surgery. I had surgery on a Wednesday and on Friday night I woke up every half hour with what felt like acid in my throat/mouth. Not pleasant at all. I email my doc who suggested sleeping more elevated. I did that for a week and never had another episode of reflux. Now I can sleep flat, even on my stomach and I'm fine.
  25. Good Morning everyone! Good luck with the fills. Analynn, Congratulations!!! Pre-op Goal!! How cool is that! John, I've been hungry the last few days. How many calories have you been eating? I average around 400 but seem to be hungry a lot. You made your 15 goal... so proud of you!!! I'm at 13.2 so I'm quite proud of that. Yup, I hope we get advanced. A little pureed food sounds pretty good to me right about now.
