  1. Congratulations! Wow, a free lap-band, what an amazing life changing prize! Thank you for your support. I have been working really hard and I count every calorie that I eat. I eat around 900 calories a day. Zumba is so much fun and anyone at any level can enjoy it. I hope that you will be able to transform your life and most definitely your health so that you can live more comfortably and happily because you absolutely deserve it. Please keep in touch and let me know if you have any questions or could just use some support!

  2. Girl I love Zumba! It has been one of my keys to success! It is both a rocky and wonderful road. Stay positive and don't doubt the strength and power you have to be successful. I look forward to seeing your amazing results..I hope we keep in touch!

  3. Good luck on your journey! You are beautiful, but hopefully you will feel even more wonderful. I hope we stay in contact!

  4. Hello :) I have actually never been filled and I am approaching 7 months post-op. My hunger is completely manageable and I am still averaging somewhere around 3 lbs/week. So, whatever the surgeon put in when he first put in the band is what I have. Sorry...that probably doesn't help much :( I wish you the best of luck with your band!!!

  5. Hello gorgeous! I stayed focused by focusing on the weight that I was losing and how wonderful I was feeling. I feel amazing and I absolutely love exercising now. I can run over a mile now without any trouble. I couldn't run literally 20 seconds before. I work out about 5 times a week but I just started by walking 2-3 miles/day. If you add hills, you will get a better work out. Seriously, if you watch your caloric intake and do some extra exercise the pounds will come off. Don't let your head get in the way and have you eat when you aren't hungry. The band will make it so you aren't anywhere as hungry as you are now. Trust your decision. You will do wonderfully :)

  6. Hello Linda! I eat around 900 calories a day. Usually egg whites and some other protein in the morning, turkey sandwich on light bread for lunch and usually chicken in some form for dinner. I work out 3-5 times a week doing cardio and some light resistance training. I also take the stairs everytime now! Please keep in contact and let me know if you have anymore questions. You should be proud of what you have achieved because you are already healthier. Take care!

  7. Hello! I have never felt hungry like I did before. It makes me wonder how much of the hunger was all in my head all along. I question myself before I eat if it is time to eat and if what I am eating is healthy. It took me about 7 months post-op to lose 125 lbs (including the pre-op diet). I am 0.3 lbs away from 130 now and June 29th will be 8 months post-op. It has definitely slowed down, but if I look at averages, I am averaging right about 2 lbs/week. The first 6 months I was averaging around 4 lbs/week! I do work-out, but not like a crazy person :) I try to workout 5 times/week for 45-60 minutes. I really don't have a secret besides changing many aspects of my life. I try to be around as many positive people as I can be, I eat 98% of the time very healthy foods, I exercise, I drink a lot of water, I take vitamins, and I work on the mental games that my brain tries to play with me. I don't play into cravings, although I still have them. If I do, it is a tiny tiny bite :)

  8. Hello! I just got your question about how many times it took me to get to my sweet spot. I have never had a fill! It's crazy, but the doctor said that some people never need any fills.

  9. Hello! I will be 6 months out of surgery on the 29th. I have currently lost 111 lbs :) I wish you the best of luck with your journey and if you ever have any questions or just want to chat let me know!

  10. Hello! It made me happy to see your pictures and your success! I was banded 10/29/09 and I have lost 124 lbs so far and I am finally in a size 16! I was happy to see your pics from the 5k. I am training for a sprint triatholon this summer...congratualations on your success :)

  11. Hello! It took me 5 months post-op to hit 100 lbs. Of course the journey has its bumps and it can be both frustrating and wonderful at the same time. Always remember the good parts of what is happening when you are frustrated with the weight loss. In those 5 months there were weeks where my body just did not lose like I wanted it to...just keep setting little goals and you will get there with the work you put into it!

  12. Hello! Thank you :) I have now lost 124 lbs and I will be 7 months post-op on May 29th. I still have 55 lbs to go! I hope that I will be able to lose around 10 lbs/month. Best of luck to you :)

  13. Hello! Thanks for the photo comment :) I am 27 years old. The sagging skin, well...it's better than being morbidly obese! To be totally honest, I do have some on my breasts, stomach, and inner thighs, all which can be camoflaged. It is more than 100% worth it to lose the weight. I am now down 124 lbs and the sagging skin is not that bad. I also figured that I might need to invest in plastic sugery someday so I am more concerned with being healthy than if my skin sags a little. I am pleasantly surprised that my arms are starting to take shape and are not sagging. The positive things that have changed totally outweigh the little wrinkles on my belly :)

  14. Hello! Thanks for the pic comment. During my first 6 months I lost over 100 lbs. I hit it pretty hard and really tried to follow all of the directions from my surgeon. I got into exercising 5-6 times a week too. The exercise is amazing for both mental and physical well being :) Good luck!!! :)

  15. Hello! The extra skin is just one of those side effects of the weight loss. I am able to hide it under clothes and it isn't that bad. I wouldn't trade the change from the excess fat for the loose skin for anything! I just figure that once I get to my goal weight that I will investigate getting it removed if necessary...it may not be :)

  16. Hello! I do not have a blog...although that sounds like a great idea! I like to read Women's Health but really a good book that breaks down foods by calories, fat, fiber, and protein is the best thing to have. I try to only eat the foods that I need to get my body through the day in a healthy way. If I exercise, then I know that I need to eat even more protein. Of course, I have some "treats" like a small cup of frozen yogurt, but even that is a fairly healthy choice. I have tried to remove any emotions from eating. Every single day I need to challenge my brain and I need to keep reminding myself to make healthy choices. It is a full time job! The lap-band? really is a tool, you have to make it work from head to toes. Please keep in touch and let me know how you are doing!

  17. Hey girl! It's good to see a fellow counselor! I am working on my Ph.D. in counseling educational psychology and will be licensed as a CPC. I come from an MFT program though. I'm excited for you! I started at about the same BMI as you did and I have been working hard to drop to a BMI of 35 now. I hope we keep in touch!

  18. Hey girl! My average loss per week started at about 4 lbs/week for the first 5 months. Now, I am averaging about 2-3 lbs/week. I have off weeks where I will only lose 1-2 lbs, at then there are some weeks where I will lose 5 lbs (those are my favorite!). I'm at 6 months now and it has slowed down...so I am going to kick up the intensity of working out to combat that :)

  19. Hi Andrea! Thanks for the post. I do count calories, I eat around 900 a day. I work out 3-5 times a week...nothing outrageous. I stay on track by eating TCBY frozen yogurt as a treat now and then (in moderation of course!). It is actually a pretty good source of protein! I went into surgery with the attitude that not only was I going to be successful but I was going to be so successful that I could be used as advertisement for the lapband. I don't think that will actually come true, I just always believed in my success and continue to believe in it everyday. Everyday I still have to edit what I eat and tell myself to exercise. Best of luck to you and keep in touch!

  20. Hi! I had some minor problems with gas pains after surgery. It would have been nice if I knew that it would happen! It is super uncomfortable, but it goes away. I think Gas-X the chewable kind work. Also, the pain meds will probably knock you out so you won't be that uncomfortable. I was able to walk a good distance 3 days post-op. Walking really helps the pain. I actually have gallstones so I will be going through that same pain this Thursday when I get my gall bladder removed. In the end, it is completely worth the couple days of discomfort!

  21. I also started out walking. I started to make it more challenging by going further, faster and adding hills. I now do Zumba, ride a bike, and I can even jog! I probably wouldn't have been able to jog 15 seconds before and now I am up to a mile! Just add little things every day like taking the stairs. Elevators don't exist in my world anymore :) I am almost 8 months out and I am thinking about getting my first fill. I only have filled what they filled during surgery. I can eat a lot more than a cup at a sitting so I am thinking that it is now time to go in and have it adjusted. I hope that you are feeling better and I know that you will do well because you sound motivated and open to change :)

  22. I am excited for you! I am humbled that I am an inspiration because I really just want to get to healthy weight. You will be amazed at how the world around will change when your body changes. The best advice that I can give is NEVER doubt your ability to succeed with the LAP-BAND?. Tell yourself you will succeed and this is not like anything else you have ever done to try to lose weight. Please keep in touch...anything at all! I will keep you updated too :)

  23. I am so excited for you! Let me know if you have any questions or concerns that you want some support with. Wow, you are only a couple weeks away from being banded. Best of luck and try to think only positive thoughts!

  24. I don't have an answer to your question! I have worked incredibly hard and followed all of the instructions given to me by the bariatric center. I count every calorie I eat and I try to do some sort of physical exercise everyday. My weight loss has slowed down but now I can run a mile when before I probably couldn't have run for 30 seconds. You should be proud of what you have accomplished because every pound you lose is helping you to become more healthy. Take care :)

  25. I don't have blog :( Although I will be more than happy to answer any questions that you may have. Today I just reached the 125 lbs lost mark! I will be at 7 months post-op on the 29th of this month.
