Anybody Used Xenical?
But guess which one of you will keep it off? I took Phentermine on and off for several years. It works great...only problem is my body became so used to the medicine and it was no longer effective. Even after being off the medicine for 6 months to a year, the pill was still not as effective.

Change of Mind?
Oh, dear...I really, really, really feel your pain. I was at that same place a couple years ago. If you know in your heart that you have not given your all into losing weight (and keeping it off) using other methods then this surgery is not for you...DON'T DO IT! It should be a last resort! Please keep us posted on what you decide. You have my support either way!

I need to get this weight off NOW!!!
Congratulations! I just read your post that you've been approved. That is so great! I was planning on dieting as soon as my appointment was over. Now I am wondering if I should wait 'til after I am approved.

UHC Approval!!
Congratulations!!! You are almost there! I understand the nervousness. It sort of freaks me out when I think about the whole process. Just think about the what you will be doing FOR your body..making it healthier, leaner and stronger. It will be well worth it!

I need to get this weight off NOW!!!
My knees are killing me, my back is killing me and I am so tired. Any other time I would be running to get my diet pills or trying the next new diet by now, but I need to keep this weight on for my first dr's appt. (Dec. 26th) I'm supposed to bring my medical records for the past year to submit to insurance, so I assume my height and weight recorded on that day will also be submitted. As soon as that's over I have to get this weight off 'cause I feel like crap!:phanvan

Dr. C, Thanks for your quick reply. I was hoping to hear that!

Too many laproscopic surgeries???
I've had 2 previous laproscopic surgeries (gallbladder and tubal ligation) and wondering if I will even be able to have the LapBand surgery due to scar tissue. My first appt. is scheduled for Dec. 26th. I'm sure the doctor will be able to tell me more, but I was just wondering if anyone had 2 or more previous laproscopic surgeries and was still able to get the band.

Medical records
I was told to bring my medical records from the past year to my appt. with Dr. Bonomo. I went to get my records yesterday and it was weird seeing (on paper) how much my weight fluctuated. The records were actually for the past 2 years. This was a medically supervised weight management program using appetite suppresants. My weight was recorded as: Jan 05: 262lbs Feb 05: 248lbs Mar 05: 241lbs April 05: 227lbs June 05: 233lbs Dec 05: 252lbs Jan 06: 239lbs Mar 06: 245lbs Aug 06: 251lbs I hope these records are enough to submit to insurance without having to do another 6 month program.

I'm finally getting started...
I have been back and forth so many times in making the decision to have the lapband surgery. I have been researching for months and months and reading post after post on this message board. I have followed several of you throughout your journeys. Although I am scared to death, I know that the Lapband may be my answer to losing the weight and finally keeping it off. I am a chronic yo-yo dieter and have been on and off diets since my pre-teen years. At present, I am 5'9", 265lbs, BMI 39. I went to a seminar at Mercy Hospital on Tuesday November 21st. I went out of town the next day. I returned home on Sunday to find out the nurse called and left a message on Wednesday (the day after the seminar). Now I have an appt. to see Dr. Bonomo on Dec. 26th. I am very nervous, but very excited about all of this. I'm on my way!

Chicago friends
Hi Hunny bun, Just wondering how your are doing w/ the program at Mercy Hospital? I called for some information and they told me to come to a session on Wednesday. Would you mind telling me a little more about it? I am still deciding if I should go or not. Thanks for your help.
