I'm finally getting started...

I have been back and forth so many times in making the decision to have the lapband surgery. I have been researching for months and months and reading post after post on this message board. I have followed several of you throughout your journeys. Although I am scared to death, I know that the Lapband may be my answer to losing the weight and finally keeping it off. I am a chronic yo-yo dieter and have been on and off diets since my pre-teen years. At present, I am 5'9", 265lbs, BMI 39. I went to a seminar at Mercy Hospital on Tuesday November 21st. I went out of town the next day. I returned home on Sunday to find out the nurse called and left a message on Wednesday (the day after the seminar). Now I have an appt. to see Dr. Bonomo on Dec. 26th. I am very nervous, but very excited about all of this. I'm on my way!

You sound like me!! Even though my claim is pending with United Health Care I was thinking last night that even when it is approved I still have time to decide if I will have the surgery. However the only thing that will change my mind about the surgery is if I get pregnant. Other than that I'm havng it done! So good luck with your decision!

Hi, I just started my search too! I am going to my first seminar on Thursday. So should I expect to go to the surgeon first or do I need to go to my Primary care doc first? Any help is much apreciated! Nicole
