You're very misinformed and it's even more obvious to me that you haven't read the book.
There are NO surgeons mentioned in my book. Mexican or US based.
I have the Lap-band and have had no revisions to any other procedures.
We have a chapter that actually goes through the other WLS procedures.
The book is very up to date.
Natalie is awesome but definitely not my girl friend
Again, there are no Mexican surgeons listed or mentioned anywhere in my book.

Just start over. I have been banded over 3 years and I start new all the time. Forgive yourself and move forward. Just think if we stopped at 10 lbs when we all first started gaining we would never have needed the band. You can lose 10 easier than 15, 20 or more. Don't wait start over. We are all doing it too you are not alone!

For the love of God, dont go to a a hardware store and ask that question.I am in know way questioning your intelligence or trying to insult you. I'd hate to have a teenager or such come online and read the before mentioned post. HEY, IT HAPPENS!
"Drano" is a highly toxic product used to open up industrial strength clogs and such in plumbing of a building home etc. POISON and I hope I dont sound stupid for typing this, just want to make sure ya know what is what! She was using an analogy, not a very good on IMHO! Drano should never be swallowed by anyone!!! Its Poison! Sandy

If you are immediately post surgery then this is not unusual. Your organs tend to get a little sleepy! Make sure you are drinking plenty and you should soon be back to normal.

Congratulations on such an amazing achievemnet and commiserations that it didn't end the way it should have. Glad that your injuries are relatively minor, hope you heal 100% really soon.

LizzyWildflower glad to have someone join me. Today was tough but it is so much easier when you can make your own moves than to keep up with someone else's. I like to listen to Christian music and make it a prayer and praise time too. See ya tomorrow!

Don't adjust your screen, you read this correctly, I was banded in 2006 and have successfully lost, and kept off 170 lbs....and outside of the liquid diet, I discovered a way to still enjoy the same exact foods that got me to enormous proportions, and shed the exta me... I'm more then happy to take anyone who honestly knows eating "Healthy " isn't parts of your vocabulary, as a pupil, mentee, minion, you get the idea, be warned, I'm without a doubt, a few sammiches shy of a picnic, a few volts dim of a watt, in laymen terms, Crazy! So if your curious, serious, and want a Fun mentor, look no further... you have been forewarned!

Oh to most Bypass or Sleeve people we (the Banded) are the lowest of people. I have been snubbed by quite a few in large groups. Not sure why they are so uptight lol

My Doctor said none at all. And I am about 20 months out and have not had any at all. If I can give it up you can too. It is so bad for you, not worth taking a chance for.

I recently talked to a bariatric doctor who pushes the gastric bypass and I asked why they didn't promote the band as much. His answer was what lovethenewme posted. He said that most band complications occur when rules are not followed and follow-ups become fewer as time goes by. Bandsters will go in when they are in trouble and sometimes it's too late. In addition, insurance companies are not wanting to cover the band because of the higher rate of complications. I still have no regrets and I've had my share of complications. Follow-up is the key here. In my case my insurance company will no longer cover checkups and fills and I must self pay. It's tough, but, I get my band checked every 6-8 months. I sometimes have to do the layaway plan, but, whatever works. jake

Well there's a lot of us on here, perhaps your local surgeons are pushing the other WLS heavily? A lot are doing that now not because they're actually better, but because they make the more money with less aftercare effort on the other surgeries.

I just want to say, I am really surprised and touched at all of your sincere and genuine responses. I really did not expect such genuine replies to my ranting. I guess I expected more "get over it and do what you know you have to" replies.
It really makes me feel like there truly is real support here and I might just utilize it more often.
I really needed to hear all of your words of advice and understanding. I agree that my problems with food are not physical. I really feel relaxed when I eat. My life is full and overflowing with 5 girls, 2 grandsons, and caring for my elderly mom, and two inlaws, and homeschooling full time. There is never time for me. Not meaning to complain, just a fact. There are only so many hours in a day.
By the end of the day, which is when I do most of my eating, I am zonked, and just want to relax. Nothing else I've tried provides that instant relaxation that the feeling of full does. I guess I had hoped the band would sustain me long enough to get past the desire to keep going back for more during the evening.
I'm sure counseling wouldn't hurt, and I've done counseling before with a daughter for a different issue so I know how it works. I just don't want to go that way right now. Maybe in the future.
As far as tracking and measuring goes, I've done it in the past enough to know how much I'm taking in. Way too much. I've used Myfitness Pal and liked it too. I've done it all. I'm just a tough but to crack. I just can't get my mind right. I'm just tired of the struggle. I want to stop having to think about the food ever second of the day. I want to just eat to survive and move on and not eat for any other reason. It just doesn't seem possible to do. Food seems to always be a lure for me.
I know none of you can change my way of thinking or fix this for me, but I hope you know that the fact that you took the time to respond to my whining with genuine understand and care really means the world to me. You all are great. Thank you.

Better to know the bad stuff going in, and it's up to you whether you want to deal with it. Some are lucky, like Honk, but most of us have a few problems here and there. Only you can weigh if it's worth the potential problems... for me it was. When I read about people's various problems before I was banded, the overwhelming majority said problems or not, they'd do it again. That was what convinced me...
I've had a lot of problems myself... In fact, I'm having revision surgery a week from today. Even with all that, I'd do it again.
