Sleep Apnea...ugh why???
You guys are so awesome for sharing your stories with me!!!!!!!!! I am so glad I posted this topic! I felt so alone yesterday (which i know is crazy) but between the sleep apnea and telling me I may not get the banding...I was devastated! To make it worse, I was a zombie all day (didn't do my Spanish homework at all-and DH came home and wanted to know why i didn't get the dishes done...ugh!). I was trying not to sound like a whinner on this thread, it was just a truly bad day. I didn't sleep all night but managed to get in 2 hrs this morning. I am much better today because of all of your kindness. I am actually looking forward to getting real sleep again, its been awhile since that happened. And today I am also better about getting the date pushed back for banding. I just hope it's covered after all this. (the funny thing is because of all the stress of this process...I have been losing weight!!! I am down two more lbs...LOL)

Sleep Apnea...ugh why???
Oh no really !?? I am sorry to hear that. I know not to take it lightly like i said better to know than not know...I think the timing was bad today. Actually the whole process has been somewhat of a joke...always smacking into walls trying to get banded! Thank you for responding back to me..I realize its not an easy thing to talk about ...and I appreciate you sharing that with me.

Banding tomorrow huh! Wow I wish you all the best! Let us know how you feel as soon as you can! Take care!!!

Has anyone tried Meridia to help lose weight prior to lap banding?
Hi Rachel ( I like that name I have a daugher Rachel) I have tried meridia....not worth going on, lots of money and you could do just as well on slim fast. Carrots...another bad idea...full of sugar, harder to burn. Weight Watcher meals...are you talking prepackaged? They are full of sodium...even the WW ladies at weigh in don't condone them. Actually...South Beach Diet works very well and its not all fatty like the other diets out there. (ex. Atkins) Don't get me wrong, Atkins worked very well for me, but the fatty food part was freaking me out so I stopped. When is your surgery date?

Sleep Apnea...ugh why???
:phanvan The pulmonary doc called today to tell me i have sleep apnea (moderate to severe-I stop breathing 15 times an hour!) Okay so i know that knowing is better than not knowing and one day just up and stop breathing. But yikes! I really wanted my banding done in August...now they can't make the appt until they know my sleep apnea "number"! The machine they showed me before was like walking nose first into a wind tunnel (no pun intended):notagree So okay I resigned to this fact. I am not fond of looking like Snuffleupagus from Sesame Street but oh well. So okay i call the surgeons office and that was when the receptionist told me they need my sleep nunmber first before they can schedule my surgery. Oh joy! Then she tells me ( and honestly I have know this all along but I think today was just too much of a bummer for me to take) :think She told me that in really really rare occasions, people do get rejected from surgery......omg nothing like salting the wound.....i know she meant well and she was really sweet about it, but yikes, one bad today is all I can take. So here I sit mildly depressed. And my husband (who is usually very nice but was working in the 102 degree weather roofing today) came home and said "oh you were too upset to do dishes??" Okay I was just told that I stop breathing 15 times an hour, and that 159 times an hour i go into really shallow breathing. And the sleep apnea mask blows air like a leaf blower.......ugh....just put the pillow over my head right now and call it a day. :omg: I am embarrassed about whinning about this when I do know that there are others who are clearly worse off than me:o , its just that i have been "up" for so long --I am not dealing with the mental crash so well. I told the sleep lady that there was no way I was gonna get any sleep over the next few days because this was overwhelming and how could I sleep knowing ahead of time that I stop breathing during the night! :cry Does anyone else have sleep apnea? :notagree I am in desperate need to get out of my "funk" :paranoid

Any other London bansters out there?
Hi Livvy, I wish I were from London. I was there last year (during the bombings-ugh scary). What a beautiful country, I'd live in England in a heartbeat! Hmm if I lived in London, I'd be able to get my fav hair care product, I can't get it here in the States! Gonna drag my husband to London/England in a few years...that is where his ancestors are from. Take care!

colon cleanse?
Okay I know the topic is foul but how weird is this. I woke up at 5:30am and turned on the tv and they are talking about cleansing your colon! Eww...now more than ever I am doing this (gonna clean out) They showed the "tar" in your colon on the program..pretty yucky! Your colon is only about 2 1/2 inches in diameter, but with the yucky stuff some get to 9 inces in diameter. They said that when John Wayne died, he had 40 lbs of tar in his colon and Elvis had 60. They said the pressure from the ballooned colon can cause back pain, puts pressure on our internal organs and is really bad for us. Yeah and they mentioned cancer eventually too. So they say cleansing gets rid of the tar on the walls of our colon and cleans out blockages too. At first when i turned the tv on and saw what the topic was I kind of snickered because we were just talking about it, now that I watched it, I am not snickering anymore. Oh and they did say that you would lose weight from having a clean colon and having regular bowel movements every day. Lol this must be a health channel because "Turbo Jam" is on now....with the skinnies in spandex jumping all over the screen...lol. (not ready for that just yet:think )

colon cleanse?
Becky -you should be able to find it in the regular stores (walmart-kmart etc) Don't you have any pharmacies though? It would be in the vitamin section.
-
colon cleanse?
Me?, no not yet. I find out tomorrow what time frame I am getting it done though. Either right away, or ....if I have sleep apnea, then i have to get fitted for a c-pac and be on it for 2 weeks before i can have surgery. Keeping my fingers crossed!!!

colon cleanse?
Yes I know, this was for a pre-banding weight loss.

colon cleanse?
You don't have to do it. It gets rid of the yucky stuff in your colon. Sort of like what Drain-o does to the pipes in the sink. I like it because I like the fact that it gets ride of the crud in your colon that otherwise would not come out on its own. It gives me more energy too.:hippie:

colon cleanse?
that is the one i have but i use capsule form....and yes, just like you said, it doesn't give you gas.:clap2:

dumb question......
Kat, Thank you thank you!!! Hmmm how I lost the weight. Oddly, I am just not hungry anymore -I only eat when I need to. Somehow (and its even strange to me---I don't feel like snacking either!) I also gave up soda...down to only one cup of coffee a day (if I even drink the whole cup!) and have been hitting the water bottles. All those changes = 4 lb weight loss this week. I am curious now to see how long I can keep it up...trying to set a personal goal to keep doing this until I get my surgery. Oh yeah I am also a couch potato, but decided that everytime I get tired to force myself to go outside...i rake or weed the garden...anything to keep me from napping. I decided napping = weight gain. Oh and I joined fitday.com and sparkpeople.com.

dumb question......
Hi how do you change the weight on the ticker thingy? I lost weight and want to post it, but I don't know how. LOL.

I may be sorry for asking this..........
Hi Thanks for all your responses! I am back on the "yes this is good" attitude. My sis had gastric 4 yrs ago...not for me thanks. Too permanent. My surgeon, who also did my sister's surgery, said that you can only really lose weight the first year. Of course its not for nothing because the new small stomach helps you eat less. He told me banding---you lose weight as far as 4 years out. Tomorrow I find out that either I have sleep apnea and i have to be fitted for a cpac (takes a month--damn) and then have to wear it for 2 weeks before i can have surgery......or, I don't have it, and can schedule my surgery right away. Which is what I am hoping for because I have three weeks between my current semester and the fall semester and if I have to wait till fall I can't have it done because I will be taking 6 classes and I just can't miss any of them -I'll get too far behind...ugh. Wish me luck...and thanks again for everyone's response.

I may be sorry for asking this..........
Whew...I am so glad to hear that! I have really researched this and thought it through thoroughly. And then my hubby put this tiny reasonable doubt in my mind (I think he is afraid i will die) and then it went whammy into a bigger doubt. My sis still "dumps" as she calls it (gastric bypass 4 yrs ago) but said she would do it again in a heartbeat. But I really needed an opinion from someone else. Thanks so much for your input!!!!!!!!!!

colon cleanse?
You can have it professionally done. But I went to Rite Aid and bought a bottle of "Super Colon Cleanse" it works really good...hmmm i should start it myself again tomorrow! It does exactly what it says, cleans your colon out. I actually feel better afterward, feel healthier. And you don't have to be chained to the toilet to do it! (yay) Its all natural has herbs in it....cleans the walls of the whole colon. hmmm i see my supply has expired..def gonna go to Rite Aid tomorrow! here is a link for you: Health Plus Inc. colon cleanse and super colon cleanse and other psyllium based products | Home Best Wishes and happy cleaning

I may be sorry for asking this..........
Okay... I have been 100%... no....1000% sure about getting banded. I know several people who either have been banded, had gastric bypass or know someone who had either one done. I have not heard any of the horror stories from them that I have read in these threads. So here is my question.......and I know its surgery, and there are aches and pains that go with it.............but: Is there anyone who really regrets having the banding done? Was it so bad that you wished you hadn't done it? :cry Or does the good outweigh the bad? (I know healthy is way better than unhealthy-i just mean the banding part) Do you think the awful things are short lived and worth the banding? Maybe I shoud direct this to the ones who are a year out on their banding.....was it worth it? Would you do it again?:clap2:

Ready...set....go!!!!
