AHHH! Endoscopy....
How did it go? I had mine on Friday morning and I was so nervous about it, but it was nothing! The worst part for me was the i.v., they placed it in my hand but now my arm near my wrist hurts.. weird? lol. It was really fun waking up from the anesthesia.

Tampons or Pads.
Tampax Pearl all the way. I can never go back to pads, they just make me feel disgusting.

Would you get breast implant.....??
I definitely plan on getting implants. I have never been even and I know once I lose the weight.. it will become more noticable. I've been wanting them for a long time so I can be somewhat even (not looking for perfect because that is not realistic) but I definitely need them. I am thinking its going to take at least 2 years before I do it, but I can't wait .

Domino's Bread Bowl
I haven't even had my surgery yet and I find this to be disgusting. Don't get me wrong, I love my carbs (one reason why I need the surgery) but pasta in a bread bowl? That is way too much! I don't even care for the soup in the bread bowls. Blech.

Anyone that has banded have any regrets about it?
Hii!! I am in the same boat as you. I have never been in the hospital as a patient except the day I was born and the only surgery that I ever had was getting my wisdom teeth extracted when I was 17 (not really a surgery?). I am so nervous and excited at the same time. I am more excited than anything and I think as my surgery day comes closer and closer.. I will get more nervous, lol.
-
Have you been Critisized for wanting the band?
Only my parents know and they are supportive. It was my mom's idea so of course she is all for it. I don't think I'll be telling anyone unless they ask me.

If you are early in your LapBand journey....
Being in a one digit size! Not being limited to Fashion Bug, Lane Bryant, and Old Navy Online (was anyone else pissed when they stopped selling plus in the stores??). Not being the fat one :/. Not being afraid to do things like going to tanning beds, rides, travel, etc because of the fear of not being able to fit . To be able to say "I did it!" and doing the picture of putting both legs in one pant leg of the fat pants!

Drinking alcohol post op
This was one of my first questions for the doctor (probably sounds really bad, lol). He said that there really shouldn't be a problem and he said that I might just get full faster with drinking banded than I do now. Has anyone gotten past the "buzz" stage and actually gotten drunk while banded? Like with rum/vodka/tequila etc. (I don't drink beer or wine). I don't drink all the time but I do enjoy doing shots once in awhile and am just curious about it. I know health comes first and losing weight is 1000x better than drinking buttttttt I still want to know if I can occasionally get drunk here and there.

psych eval -what to expect
I think it depends on the doctor? I was so nervous about mine because I was afraid of what he was going to ask and what not. It went by really easy, didn't even last 10 minutes. My surgeon recommended him because he promotes the lapband. He asked me how I felt when I went to a restaurant like if I felt insecure or what not. History and other things I've tried (weight watchers, atkins, etc). Family history of alcohol/drug abuse and if I use either. If I was ever sexually abused and stuff like that. If anything we talked about where I go to school and how the dorms and everything is more than anything else. He was a really nice and friendly guy who said that I'd make a great candidate for it.

Pre-op and excited
Hii!! Good luck

Pre-Op Tests??
I think it depends on your surgeon/doctors and insurance. I have to do the endoscopy, blood work, ekg, echo, stress test, and sleep study. I am not too happy about the sleep study, I have pretty much perfect health (except being overweight of course) and I have no breathing/sleeping problems and he himself even said everything was great but he does the sleep study with everyone regardless. Ugh . If you feel you need to get something checked just ask your surgeon and I am sure he can recommend you but if you don't need it done, then I wouldn't worry about it. I so wish I didn't have to do any of these.

Approved!!!!

Is anyone keeping their surgery a secret?
I am keeping it a secret for now. Only my parents, doctors, and insurance know about it. I did not even tell my sister, but I assume once I actually get the surgery, she will find out and I will tell certain people like close friends. My mom said to tell people I am going into surgery to get ovarian cysts removed, lol. I think I am just not going to say anything at all. What I do is my business.

Did your doctor recommed this or did you just decide
My mom was the one who suggested it. She has been dropping hints about it for the past year and then when we first tried calling the insurance company about it , we got denied. Then my dad's plan changed and we are now approved. I went to the initial meeting still on the fence about it but everything just happened so fast and I got my date and a list of doctors to see on that first meeting. At first I thought I wasn't going to get it because all the doctors are like "you are easy, you are just really overweight but overall your health is great" (I'm not complaining!) I am still qualified for the surgery and that is all that matters. I have done a lot of research on it and I figure it will be best to do while I am still young and have good insurance lol. I can't wait! I think though that my mom is more excited for it than me lol, she makes all the appointments for me and all I have to do is just show up to the doctors, lol.

Psych Test
Mine was even easier. I was really scared going into it and it didn't even last 10 minutes!! The first three minutes he was on the phone with someone else and then he just asked about where I go to school, how is my home life, any history of sexual/alcohol/substance abuse in my immediate family, and my opinion on the surgery. It was so easy lol.
