  1. I’ve been on track for two days now and it feels good to be eating food and not just snacks—the wrong kind of snacks to be exact.

While I was at Zumba (exercise class) yesterday, I had many people ask “what have you done, what are you doing, you look marvelous”. This is the only place outside my house I wear skin tight clothing. So everything shows.

Those moments are what I needed, a reminder of what I’m doing. As I explained my routine (leaving out the band info---that’s a need to know bases ya know) about exercise, eating right, keeping a journal, sticking to a certain amount of calories per day and making sure I drink enough water.

    It clicked.

    I got it.

I’m going down the right path to get back on track again.

I needed to hear it out loud, to bring it to the forefront of my brain.

It felt good to share my experience, help others to start on a program for a better and healthier life.

  2. egomez; call the doc, make an appointment for a fill. If you have one already, make an appointment to talk about what's going on and ask why it's it working?

Make up a questionnaire sheet for him/her about your concerns, be prepared for the appointment.

Maybe you need to speak to the nutritionist?

You've come all this way, don't give up yet!

  3. I was doing so well during the summer. Posting each day about my food, liquids and exercise.

Since the kid's school has started I can't find the time do log. I'm lost.

I eat whats easy and that's usually not the right thing.

I've been dumping lately because I'm eating on the go.

I wish it was summer again!

I'm maintaining but....how long will that last.

I cancelled my fill for this month because I was doing so well. I moved it to November.

I think I might need to call and move it up.

    I fell I'm losing it!

    HELP!!

  4. Did you call your doc? What did they say?

I do the same thing. Stay up way longer then I should (ya, right now it's 1:30am  and I'm here instead of bed, tummy is talking to me too ). I will get another drink and it usually settles down. :(

But I usually have my alarm on my phone go off around 10 to remind me to go to bed. (but today is my birthday :cursing: and I'm doing what I want---stay up!)

    Good luck!

  5. Reality sucks.

I see and hear those people all the time. It's really bad when I have my 4 kids around and they are aware of it too. "mommy why are they looking at us?"

I try to tell them that we need to learn to know a person before we judge a person.

Just because they wear glasses doesn't mean their smart or dumb.

Just because they wear old torn clothes doesn't mean their poor or live on the streets.

Just because their fat doesn't mean they don't care about themselves.

I hope that they will keep this with them through life and be a cut above cause they look outside the box first.

  6. This was great! Thanks for the laughs!

I didn't do the moo moos, I wore sweats all the time in the 80's and part of the 90's. This was before stretchy

material for pants came out (only the preg. pants had that).

I too have found that I'm down to a 38B from a 42C and use my sports bra more then others to keep me up.

I'm back to my wedding weight though and can't wait for the next 10 to drop. 10 at a time keeps me going, do it a total of 4 more times and I'll be good!

  7. CONGRATULATIONS & GOOD LUCK!

Keep with this site and you will find an answer to just about everything.

Go to the chat line and ask there too.

Start if you haven't already to keep a food dairy, drink your liquids too.

I wont' lie, it will hurt, there will be scars and you will have restrictions.

But that's ok, you will survive.

You'll learn to use your new tool.

The new life change will be hard cause you'll be eating differently, maybe drinking more then you're used to and oh ya YOU'LL BE LOSING WEIGHT!

Welcome and take it one day at a time.

Keep up posted on your progress.

  8. I do not have this issue and haven't heard this one before.

You've spoken to your doctor about this right? What did he/she say about it?

Could you need a small unfill?

    Food choices:

Try to keep smart foods handy for that "grab and go" that you need. (deli roll; meat w/cheese together, almonds, nuts, jello, yogurt, cheese...)

To get the fruits and veggies maybe have smoothies.

Maybe do muchie foods during the day. (rice & chicken, stews w/veggies...)

When you do open up and can eat, just make good choices.

Are you keeping a food dairy? (I use myfitnesspal.com and they've made it so easy) What is your calorie intake? (I try 1200 a day, some times I make it and sometimes I don't) How often do you eat during the day? (I eat 4-6 times a day) Are you getting enough liquid down too? (I've stopped sodas and have picked up those flavor packets to use in each bottle, easy to change flavors and not feel stuck)

I've lost 40#'s, it's been a slow 3 years but I've done it. I have 40 more to go to get to my goal. But my mini goals of 10#'s give me joy and momentum to go to the next 10.

If you haven't asked your doctor yet, give him/her a call on Monday. Keep us updated on how things go.

  9. 6 pounds it good! I think some of us keep thinking back to those papers we read where "we'll lose 2# a week" and now that we're here it's not true.

But losing it slow is good, and what ever amount it is it great, we're losing, not gaining.

    Think of it as;

    You are learning now.

You are learning how to use your new tool.

You are learning how to eat again, the right way.

Because you're going on vacation, give yourself permission to have one bad thing a day. But think about it, if it's an ice cream...only have half, if it's a burger, have half the bun or none at all but everything else. Want fries...pick 10 and toss the rest. Just take a moment to think before you do. Enjoy your vacation!

Don't lose the fun because you're thinking of food all the time. (what to eat or not to eat)

My DS's (12 & 11) took me out for my b-day dinner tonight and I had fried shrimp, baked potato w/butter and sour cream and dessert. I just watched the amount that I had and enjoyed it all.

"I owned it, acknowledged it, I learned from it, I worked with it and got over it"

Dwelling on it will just keep you down.

Have fun at Disneyland and say HI to Minnie for me!

P.S. If you do gain a few pounds...so what, you have an awesome tool that will help you (as it has in the past) to lose weight. It's ok, just make good choices like I know you can and enjoy!

  10. You can pull through this. What's your calorie intake like?

You my be wanting more cause your working out more.

I've had my band for 3 yrs. I lost 30 in the first yr, thought I could do it myself and walked away from everyone. Well now I'm back and working it, with 10# gained back. Since April I've lost 20 making it a total of 40 gone and 40 to go.

I'm happy that I'm losing it slow. I feel that if it's slow it gives me a better chance to keep it off. Work the tool. Work the new change of life style

I started of slow w/a food dairy. Now I count calories and work out twice a week.

I too still have food as the "go to" when things get rough, but I think about it first these days befor I grab it. Some times I make the right choice and sometimes I don't.

Maybe if your a crafty type person, keep something handy to keep your hands and mind occupied.

  11. Thank you all for responding!

I'm so happy! I'm still smiling!

Tomorrow is my b-day and my kids took me out for dinner tonight. It was seafood but I didn't watch what I ate and I know I'll be working to take off the weight next week but it's ok, my 2 DS (12 & 11) had a blast buying the family dinner tonight.

  12. Went to a shop the other day to find shoes, couldn't resist and went to the clothes. Even went to the Petite area. Being 5’1” I’ve always dreamed of shopping in that section but they’ve never carried “big girl clothes”.

Found a pair of size 16W pants, tried them on and almost screamed in the changing room.

They went over my thighs w/out a problem at all. Then up and over my hips w/ease and then I went to zip them up—had to hold my breath but they zipped up.

I haven’t been able to zip up a pair of size 16 in a long time.

Let alone shop in the “regular” area of the store. I think it was 3 years ago when I did.

Oh it put such a smile on my face.

I didn’t buy them but it just made me feel so good and brought it to my face that what I’m doing it working!!

I went home and found my 18W that I had put away. They went on like butter, they were a regular pant, not one with stretch either. I wore them the next day to work and so many people committed on how I’ve changed and ask “what are you doing”.

I explain to them that I came to my senses and have been watching what I eat

    and exercising twice a week.

  13. I hit my half way mark today!!!

I am so happy! :thumbup:I have 40 more to go. :)

Since I've been keeping my food dairy at myfitnesspal.com it has made it easier to count the calories now. I used to hate doing it.

I also keep track of my exercise workout there.

It has really helped keep me on track with my food. I was keeping a dairy of just the food I hate, not the amount or calorie count. You could say it was a practice run till I could find a website that meet my needs.

I'm still working out twice a week in a Zumba class (LOVE IT ) and I want to start back up in my water aerobics class too.

Now with school back in I need to work that into my schedule.

I have an appointment w/my doctor this week but I think I'm going to push it back a few months to (last fill was in July) see if I continue losing easily. :yikes:

I've heard that as you lose you need it tighter to keep your sweet spot--right now I like how tight I am.

Have a great day everyone!
