  1. I'm still here but haven't had the will to "be on top fo things".

Family, holidays, death....you name it it's been here and some of it is still here.

    I've been able to maintain!!

Starting logging once...need to get back into that. I know that it helps to realize what you are eating and when.

Had to drop my ever loving Zumba class due to cost but I found another. Just need to sign up for it now. Need to put it back into my schedule!

Keep up the good work everyone!

  2. I have had I think 5 fills now. Ya it hurts, to me it's no more than giving blood or getting a shot for something.

What hurts more is when they move the needle once inside to find the port.

The pressure from that is what hurts my insides.

But then they find it, I get more and smile, knowing that I will benefit from this little bit of discomfort.

Once you both (you and the doc) learn the sweet spot for the fill, it will go by much better.

The one cool thing; when they take out everything to check the amount, it’s like undoing your belt after you’ve just eaten. Then they fill it back up and it’s tight again.

  3. Are you keeping a food log? Drinking your water? Maybe you're eatting to fast or foods that get stuck easily; breads, shrimp, broccoli...?

If you are keeping a log, look back on those days that were bad, maybe you'll find a reason for PBing?

But yes; speak to your doctor. Start writing down issues and questions now so you'll be prepared at your next appt.

Your weight loss is great and it's awesome that you are maintaining during these difficult times.

  4. Thanks renebeau & BG for responding.

I'm trying to save up money to go shopping!! I think I'll hit up the Thrift Stores first knowing that I'll be getting smaller soon!

I've been slowly getting rid of those clothes too!

    Have a great day!

  5. 84 POUNDS!!! Way to go!

Don't beat yourself up. Instead give yourself permission to have it but make a date. Mark you calendar for one day a month that you can have that candy or meal that you love to eat but might not be to good for you.

If you dwell on it to much you will not want to work through this. You may end up hating the band and that won't be good.

When I go to a fast food joint, like McDonalds, I'll have one of their grilled wraps and fries. I will pick out 10 fries and toss the rest. I don't go there all the time but when I do, I have the upper hand not the food!

Head games...they suck but it's a part of life and our new life change that we need to get hold of.

You can do it, you know about it, your not hidding it....now do something about it!

I'm proud of what you've done! Keep it up!!

  6. Oh I know what you mean. We didn't buy any since we weren't home but I told DH that he had to take the kids bags it to work or whatever, just get it out of the house.

I had 5 pieces yesterday and I swear it showed up this morning on the scale.

    Love your pumpkin!

Oh by the way...DH forgot the candy..it's sitting here w/me and I can SMELL it.

  7. This has been a long road. I started in 7/06 at 225. I was doing well and thought I could do it on my own. I stepped away from support, follow ups and chat blogs.

It took me 3 years to come back and find my say. I’ve been working on this for the past 6months. I’ve been able to drop 25 pounds and 36.5 inches. ZUMBA IS SO MUCH FUN!!

I have learned that if I exercise, complete a daily journal, drink at least 64 oz of liquid a day, weigh daily (really try not to do that one, but you know how it goes when you’re on a diet) or weekly, and measure; I can do this…stay on track…I can smile again and be proud of what I’m doing.

The standing goal for life is to keep up w/my life change once I meet my weight goal of 145. On each diet that I’ve done (and I’ve done a lot), I’ve never thought about “what to do at the end when I reach my goal”. I always went back to the way things were.

And then I would gain it all back and more…I don’t want this!

    I’ve gone from a 22 to a 16 in pants …I don’t want that again!

    I’ve dropped over 30 inches…I don’t want it back!

I have a matinee coming up soon. I’ve had this dress in my closet for 3 years, just waiting till the day I could wear it.

I put it on and guess what? IT WAS TOO BIG! I went over to my mom’s house and found some clothes there.

    I found out that I now wear a size 16! I haven’t seen a 16 in YEARS!

It felt so good; it put a skip in my step all day long.

I’m so happy to be on the journey to a new life!

  8. I've been doing the 10 pounds goals this time around too! I love it, I'm so excited when I reach it!!

I've lost close to 25 pounds since April (that's when I got back on track) and am so proud of myself. I didn't think I would do this well so quickly. (that's what...4 #'s a month?)

I do have a fill appointment next week and I'm going to ask for 1/4cc more. I feel that I'm eating a bit to much lately. :)

My ultimite goal is 145 and I'm about 35 pounds away from that goal! I try not to think about that ultimite goal to much, but focus on the 10 pounds at a time.

  9. They are right...just watch what you eat, do it slow and just not all the time.

Once you are banded, also remember not to drink while eating. Yes there may be times you need something but usually not.

When I go out to eat, I ask for a coffee cup of water or a kid’s cup. This will stop them from asking “are you sure I can’t get you something to drink” or just in case I need a sip I have it there.

Set a date or time during the month when you reward yourself.

I eat whatever I want. I just watch how much, how often and always, always eat it slowly. I too eat bread, tortillas, rice etc.. If you want those chips, have them but take out a handful from the basket for yourself and that's your portion. I do this w/French fries. 10 is my limit and I either toss the rest or give them to the kids. But I’m not beating myself up for having “bad food”, I given myself permission, dealt w/the portion size and enjoyed.

There will always be that head game out there that we need to deal with and the more we deal with it the easier it will be to move on and we win the game of life…Our new life!

It's a life change as you know and we all work on it ONE DAY AT A TIME.

    Good luck on your journey.

  10. Last Monday I was told my oldest DS had the Swine Flu (SF).

I have four kids and thank GOD only one had it. I can tell you I lost a lot of sleep for a few days.

But we were lucky, he had a mild case. He had been feeling sick the week prior, worse over the weekend and by Monday after going to Urgent Care (We went because we had been in contact w/someone who had been tested postitive the Friday prior, got a phone call that let us know).

There was a close call w/strep too. He had white bumps on his tonsils too. It came back negitive so at least I had one thing off of my list to worry about.

They did a SF rapid test on 3 of four of my kids and only one was positive but we still needed to have the lab follow up done for the next day. It was a long day, waiting for that phone call to tell me the results.

It came late in the day (of course) and all was the same from the night before at Urgent Care. Only one had SF and the rest had cold symptoms...ear infections, water behind both ears and swollen limph nodes.

Because my DS did not have a high grade fever we did not receive the medicine Tamiflu (sp?) to fight it, we were told to use over the counter meds.

I am happy to say that he is on the mend, he went to school that Wednesday and only missed one day of school. His fever was gone by that evening and was fever clear for 24 hours. He had residual muscle aches from all the sneezing and mild headaches but as of today is his back to normal!

I am now trying to get back into the right eatting habits again. I was eating what I could, when I could.

I hope you and yours are safe during this difficute flu time.

PLEASE REMEMBER TO WASH YOUR HANDS, KEEP SOME HAND SANITIZER NEAR OR WITH YOU!

IF YOU OR A FAMILY MEMBER IS SICK ...PLEASE, PLEASE STAY AT HOME.

  11. Real quick...I went looking for my belt this morning.

Well I found it, put it on and then noticed that it was my husbands belt!

I figured it out as I tried to buckle it up. Got it to the first loop and couldn't understand why it wasn't going down like it usually does...then I really looked at the belt.

I had such a huge smile on my face! I started laughing!

Set the tone for the rest of my day!

    HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE!

  12. Way to go!

As people will see and notice; you take your time, you enjoy your food..each and every bite, don’t drink during (unless it extremely necessary), take time to enjoy those around you.

Don’t be surprised if they pick up one of these new habits!

Remember to listen to your body now. If you feel full or just comfortable, stop. It’s part of the new head game.

Set your phone alarm; for ½ hour after you eat to remind yourself to drink.

    You’re doing great!

  13. WELCOME BANDSTARR430!!

It really is up to you to do this or not. Ya it would be nice to have family support but...not all of us get that at the start and then they see...they see what you've been tell them all along on what this "tool" will do for you and now the results that come from the proper use of the “tool”.

Maybe have them come with you to your meetings, to the doctors’ appointments and let them ask questions too. Make them feel and be involved, “family support is always welcomed”.

My DH has always been supportive but he even thanked me for asking him to come with me to my meetings during my 6 months before surgery.

It was also good to have someone else there to talk to later about the topics that came up and how I might do this or that or even the same.

As mentioned I had to go through a 6 month waiting period too. I had to maintain my weight, I was not asked to lose any. I started out at 225 (I’m 5’1”).

Went to meetings, psychologist, nutritionist, had to journal all my food/liquids/exercise, and of course a monthly meeting w/the doctor.

Then….I was asked to go on a two week liquid diet before surgery. Oh I thought I was going to die. It was hard but worth it!!

Keep your chin up, talk again to the family and ask them to come w/you to meetings, continue to research to make sure that this is the right thing for you and be proud of yourself for recognizing that you do need help to get your life back, be healthy, and be happy.

Good luck and keep us posted

  14. Okay; go to "User CP", (this is at the top left of each page) scroll down to "Settings & Options" on the left side of the window.

Click on "Edit Signature". There is the box that you can put what ever you want in as your signature including your ticker.

Yes; paste the "bbCode" from your favorite ticker site there in the box.

Before you post, preview it to confirm.

    I hope this helps.

  15. Alright; I've been playing w/this because it's been a while since I did this.

Go to your ticker website, copy from the bbCode.

Then come back here and paste.

To check it out before you post, go to advance and "preview post". If you don't see it, then it didn't work.

    But it should.

If this is what you like and you'd like it in your "signature", do the same thing, copy it to there, preview and then post.

    I hope this works.
