  1. Oh.. and my thoughts on GB patients dissing the band......... WELL hon, that's normal! Everyone wants to think that THEIR chosen path is the RIGHT one for EVERYONE, plus they don't know what the hell they are talking about! LOL I've said many times on these boards.. my two best friends in real life have had the RNY, B= 4 years out, OPEN, lost 120 lbs but has now gained back 30-50% she was real bad on taking her vitimans, she NEVER dumped, and as a result could eat anything all day long.... and now she may be looking into the band..... (but truthfully, she is in a major depression and is having some very personal issues) Friend #2, C = 2 years out, down 135... looks and feel great, just had a tt and boob lift......... she is almost at her goal........ BOTH say its the best thing they ever did, and at first C= kind of dissed the band, but it was obvious that she wasn't educated on it....... she didn't push the issue because she has watched me lose 80 lbs on LC 3 times, She's also watched me gain it all back..... she knows that I'm hard headed and she knows that once I make a desicision I set my mind like a pit bull. She is one of my RL cheerleaders. I would just say.. don't let others sway you. Do it or Don't it is YOUR decision, because it is YOUR LIFE, YOUR JOURNEY.
  2. GOOD MORINING ALL! Happy Good Friday! I am off work today and my sons daycare is closed so it is just the two of us.. and after all our 80 degree days.. it is now SNOWING as I type this... WEIRD WEATHER.. all my tulips are frozen and laying on the ground... If you check out my ticker.. I am down yet again today.. making it 10 lbs since Monday.... the water weight I believe is done now and my loss will slow down.. although I had a really nice NSV.... A few weeks ago, I was disgusted with the lack of clothes in my closet that fit, and so when I saw a pair of size 22 jeans on the clearance rack for $6.00 so I bought them.. they looked big enough, but when I got them home I couldn't zip them up without laying on the bed and they were too tight to wear them at all, plus they were soooo uncomfortable I was afraid I'd bust out the zipper....... so I put them up.......... well for grins I tried them on today and they zipped RIGHT UP and I am wearing them as I type this! (I might add they are NOT stretchy) All of our bandsters that have posted: YAY!!!!!!!! It is your posts that keep me strong on this liquid diet. THANK YOU. To answer some questions: 1. I threw out the leftover dinner last night... YAY ME 2. I have not TRIED the Isopure Water yet.... I just ORDERED it BLINDLY.. and now I'm a little scared that I may have wasted my money, but I know that they do offer 40 oz of protein per bottle and my inability to WASTE things I know I will be drinking them during my clear stage.... I will evalute the taste of each one (since I bought a variety pack) 3. I bought them from GNC.com. I checked them out at my local store first, and then I bought them off the website for a lot better price..... I am still waiting for them to be delivered. 4. I did start my PRE-OP diet EARLY. I wanted to jumpstart my loss and put my stupid eating to an end. I really really really want to be in some of my old clothes by summer.... I'm hard headed and I just set my mind to do this... and the jeans I'm wearing today are just the beginning! Right now my son is wanting his breakfast, so I'll check back in a bit.
  3. Actually I love it too.... and there is over a 3/4 of the deep dish skillet left.. I swear the MAN DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO COOK SMALL!!!!!!!! So, I say... what do you want me to do with it? He says well if your really not going to eat any of it I guess you might as well throw it away! (If I would of had a weapon nearby I would of hit him with it.... I am a carnivor of a woman who's had liquids for 4 straight days and NOTHING but willpower for restriction.) THE HORROR!!!!!!!!!! ALL that food going to waste, my GOD man.. does he not understand me at all???? I have not thrown it out yet.......... But I have Kat in the back of my head... saying THROW IT AWAY... or that waste will go to your WAIST!! Survivor is getting ready to come on and that is my son and my favorite show to watch together... (he's 3.5) I PROMISE I WILL THROW the men in my house out!!! ... uhhhh I mean their dinner. LOL
  4. I'm currently waiting on some ISOpure protein water (Variety Pack) that I ordered from GNC on the BOGO offer. It is 40 grams of protein and considered a clear liquid.
  5. HOLY CRAP..... that hamburger helper smells so damn good!!!! LOL but I am being good.. and have been good all week on my pre-op... I will just hold my nose and go to the kitchen.. oh wait... thats were he's cooking ..... maybe I better just chew on this sf popsicle stick a little longer...........:lalala:

I am doing a liquid LOW CARB diet (w/ 1 can of tuna allowed per day) Protein Shakes SF Jello SF popsicles SF LC yogurt Water (soon to be adding the ISOPURE protein water as soon as it gets delivered) OH and what to wear: slip on shoes stretch pants/shorts sports bra
  15. I would suggest you take some time and really read the FLMA laws on the DOL.gov website........ FLMA does protect your job if you meet the qualifications, it does however disclose the "medical necessity" and if you don't want your boss to know what you had done that could be an issue for you........ and as for the CSR getting fired for having Cancer..... if that is the sole reason, then it sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen. FLMA would protect that kind of crappy employment practice. <<<threadjack>>>>>>>>>> Wheets, I've been wondering where you've been! Good to see you. <<<endthreadjack>>>
  16. Welllllll it IS liquid! LOL If it were me, I wouldn't.. call your doc and ask.
  17. Jullee: My insurance REQUIRES an overnight stay.. 23 hour observation period is what they call it. IF I was self pay, I would been banded in January, as an outpatient at a very nice hotel type doctors hospital.... but I my insurance approved me so I have to go by their guidlines and their in network hospital......... The hunger is hitting me more today than before.... I'll have a glass of Water and then re evaluate! This thread is HOPPING!
  18. From the Department of Labor website (dol.gov) The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) provides certain employees with up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave per year. It also requires that their group health benefits be maintained during the leave. FMLA is designed to help employees balance their work and family responsibilities by allowing them to take reasonable unpaid leave for certain family and medical reasons. It also seeks to accommodate the legitimate interests of employers and promote equal employment opportunity for men and women. FMLA applies to all public agencies, all public and private elementary and secondary schools, and companies with 50 or more employees. These employers must provide an eligible employee with up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave each year for any of the following reasons: • for the birth and care of the newborn child of an employee; • for placement with the employee of a child for adoption or foster care; • to care for an immediate family member (spouse, child, or parent) with a serious health condition; or • to take medical leave when the employee is unable to work because of a serious health condition. Employees are eligible for leave if they have worked for their employer at least 12 months, at least 1,250 hours over the past 12 months, and work at a location where the company employs 50 or more employees within 75 miles. Whether an employee has worked the minimum 1,250 hours of service is determined according to FLSA principles for determining compensable hours or work. Time taken off work due to pregnancy complications can be counted against the 12 weeks of family and medical leave. Special rules apply to employees of local education agencies. The Department of Labor administers FMLA; however, the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) administers FMLA for most federal employees. <!-- begin backtotop.shtm -->
  19. I am an HR person and it is illegal for him to require you to disclose your personal medical history/issues, as it is against HIPPA regulations for your Docs office to disclose the info without your consent. (EVEN TO YOUR SPOUSE) That said, he does have a right to approve or reject your requested time off for the appointments. (Especially if it is paid time off) If possible I would try to make your appointments at a time that is less noticeable (I.E. lunch, before or after work, weekends) I know this isn't always possible, but you could try. If your doc is not all over the TV you could ask him/or nurse to write you a letter stating that you are under his care and require followup once per month for a year. (Being careful not to disclose what you had done) I would make copies of this letter, and give one to your supervisor, one to your HR office and one for your home file. Also you could provide a copy of the HIPPA statement. (that should let him know it is none of his business) The other way to go is to tell him that you are having issues with your PERIOD because you are bleeding too heavily (like a stuck pig) and each month they have to monitor your progesterone level!!!!.......... (this should shut him up.. because no man wants to know about a womans period.. I will be in the same situation, as my boss (although HR Director) he is VERY involved in my business.... sometimes he thinks I'm his daughter. I have not told him about my procedure because I just don't want to discuss it with him daily............

  22. uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh............ are you ME??? LOL Diagnosed with the thyroid of an 80 year old man AND PCOS (which caused infertility) at the tender age of 22......... I FEEL FOR YOU. Get a grip now, before you continue to balloon up......... Most PCOS websites will direct you to a lower carb higher Protein way of eating, and maybe this might be the trick for you... Surgery is such a personal choice... one that took me a LONNNNNNNNNNG time to make. My other fav board is one called low carb friends dot com... it is very supportive much like LBT.
