  1. I am giving the clothes away that are in decent shape, and the rags that I wear which should already be in the garbage are finally going to be put to rest. There is no way I am saving any of these large size clothes. I did save alot of my smaller size clothes so I need to make room in my closet for them!!! Can't wait for that day!
  2. Yep, I noticed the same thing yesterday. Helps to keep me sitting straight!
  3. I have been thinking about this for a couple of days. Just wondering if anyone ever asked this question to their dr. I plan on asking mine next week when I see him. I know it's too late not, I have it in already, but I was just wondering if there is any possible connection to having the band and it causing either cancer of the stomach or another type of cancer. I am a little cancer paranoid since my family was affected by it. I hope this isn't an upsetting question to anyone. Thanks!
  4. I have noticed that my morning cup of tea doesn't taste the same any longer, it also tastes watery, even though I put two teabags in it. Also, the chicken broth that I have used to have a very strong flavor, now it just tastes really watery to me. Right now i'm only on clear liquids, so I haven't tasted any real food yet.
  5. Medicare will pay, but you have to go to a Center of Excellence and need to have a BMI over 40. Do a search for Centers of Excellence in your area that perform lap-band and you should be able to find one. Good luck!
  6. I was banded on Tuesday, Sept. 12. I will have 2 weeks of clear liquids, then 4 weeks of pureed/mushies and then onto solids. So two months pre-op is when I can start solids according to my dr. Also, no red meat for 6 months, but I don't eat read meat anyway.
  7. OMG, me too! Every other commercial was for pizza! And pizza is my weakness, i have to look away and change the channel every time. I'm not feeling hungry either, actually, fell very full and bloated, but I still don't want to look at that stuff. Did anyone watch Oprah today?
  8. I don't know the answer. I do know breast implants are supposed to be replaced every ten years. I haven't heard anything about the band. Great job, boo boo, 40 lbs. in a little over a month! Way to go! That is what I am hoping for! Take care.
  9. Naked and after I go to the bathroom in the morning ONLY!
  10. Good luck tomorrow!! I am having mine done too tomorrow, schedule for 12:00 noon! I'll be thinking of you! We'll talk when we get back. I am staying overnight and won't be home until Wednesday afternoon! Skinnyville, here we come!
  11. I was living in NYC at the time. I was home on maternity leave that day. My daughter was two months old. I remember waking up right before 9:00 a.m., the baby was still asleep (she was a great sleeper), and I remember thinking it was the most beautiful day I had ever seen. It had rained the entire day before, but today the sky was blue blue blue and the air was clean and crisp. One of the top ten days for sure. I opened up my windows and thought, oh, good, I can catch Regis for once. I turned on the TV and saw the first tower burning. I stared at it thinking, that building looks familiar. My mind was trying to block out that it was the WTC, because I thought it couldn't possibly be. I used to work in the WTC. I soon found out it was. Then I heard what I thought was thunder, but soon realized it was actually the sound of the second plane hitting the other tower. I will never forget that horrible day and all those that I knew who were lost and all those that I did not know and their families. May they rest in peace. Nothing irks me more than when I hear people call this the "disaster", like it was some natural happening like a hurricane or earthquake. It was a terrorist attack. An attack, let us not ever forget!
  12. Thanks everyone. I think I will order some unjury just to have on hand, in case I am unable to choke down any protein for a while. Thanks again!
  13. Who does and does not add unflavored protein powder to their foods? I am wondering if I should order some or look for some in the stores, or see how I do without it first. Thanks.
  14. I've been wondering about this too. I just wonder if it is always going to feel like someone punched me in the stomach. I know it won't, but I can't help but wonder. It is hard to imagine the nausea being gone and being able to go on about our new healthier thinner lives normally.
  15. Thanks everyone! I called Walgreens here and the price was around 23.00, so not too bad. I was just curious how much, I know some of these medications are outrageous. My dr. also prescribed Prevacid SoluTabs (they dissolve in the mouth) and I know they are expensive, as I have taken the capsule form for many years.
  16. Thank you so much for asking the question. I am due to be banded on Tuesday and of course have been asking myself the same things since yesterday. But....I say DITTO to all the answers that everyone has given so far, and when I focus on that, all the past diets and then the regaining for the past 15 years, I know I won't be jumping off the operating table and running come Tuesday. I wish you the best of luck with your decision. For me, it is the hope that I can finally take the weight off, (the highest that I have ever been) and KEEP it off once and for all.
  17. My dr. gave me a prescription for Lortab Liquid for the post-op pain. I was wondering if it was effective and how much did you pay for it. I have no prescription insurance and was curious if I should send it through Canada or have it filled here at the pharmacy. Thanks.
  18. I was told today that I am getting the VG band (10cc) on Tuesday. It is the ONLY size band my surgeon uses, which surprised me. He said it is better and he has had no problems with it, it can be adjusted more than the smaller ones. I tried to explain what I had heard about the other size bands, but it is the only one he uses, so I have to go with it. My dr. has a very good reputation and I trust him, so I will just have to see how it goes. I will get a fill 4 - 5 weeks out and I am hoping he gives me an aggressive first fill, I forgot to ask him, but I believe someone else said he is pretty aggressive with the fills, maybe because he only uses the 10cc band. He said I should only need 3 fills in the first year. Too bad my insurance, Medicare, only pays for 1.
  19. Thanks everyone, you are all so kind. Jack, my bowel movements have changed somewhat. I say somewhat because I would "normally" go 3 times in the a.m. from the time of wakening until about noon. Since the liquid, I have only gone once each a.m., most of the days, with the exception of two days, it was normal texture. Yesterday it was liquididy (if that is even a word). Aren't you glad you asked? LOL!
  20. I'm doing 3 protein shakes a day, using Sport Pharma Whey and Muscle Milk, sf jello, sf ice pops, 1 boullion cube a day with water, coffee with skim milk, artificial sweetner, diet snapple, that it. I haven't cheated once. I felt like throwing that scale through the window. I would think there was something wrong with it, except when I put my daughter on it, her correct weight came up.
  21. Can anyone tell me how it could be that I have been doing this clear liquid only pre-op diet for 5 full days and have not lost a single ounce! I am so afraid that this is what is going to happen to me after being banded as well. Why won't my body let go of this fat!? I know it has only been 5 days, but not one ounce gone. What is wrong with my body? Even if I would have been eating food, I would have still been the same weight, so why am I going through this suffering? I even weighed myself before TOM came and now TOM is gone and I am still the same, I don't get it. Will I lose weight with my band or am I in for more of this. I am so annoyed right now, this liquid phase is not easy, at least if I would have dropped a pound I would see some results and feel better about it. GRRRRRRRR:hungry: :faint: :think :cry :drum: :)
  22. Chris, 70lbs. lost and mainted for 3 years is awesome!! If you want to take off those extra lbs. you can definitely do it!
  23. I have been on a designer shoe binge! I got some great deals on clearance and went high heel crazy! I haven't been able to wear heels since I put on all this weight 5 years ago and have been stuck in birkenstocks all this time. I'm jonesing to wear a nice pair of shoes, so I'm all ready when the time comes and I'm never going to take them off!! ENJOY your purchases.
  24. Katiegirl, I am on day 5 of a 2-week, CLEAR liquid ONLY pre-op diet and it is for the birds! There are very few options and I am getting sick of them. I hate this taste in my mouth too, I want something to chew! I hate to complain, but around this time of the day, it starts to get on my nerves. Good luck to you!
  25. I, too, have problems with GERD for many years. I will let you all know what happens after I get my band. Hoping i am one of the lucky ones, and it disappears!
