  1. Wow, I've just read all the posts in this thread and I was going to offer my 2 cents on how to drop quickly, but they are all covered. We are all weight loss experts! Okay, I'm going to add some thoughts: I know what you mean about Atkins backfiring. I always joked that I was eating so much fat that putting a carb with it would be like putting a match to TNT. I'd explode! I'd go with the varying your daily calories and upping your activity. Keep your heart rate low to moderate and going at it for 30-60 minutes is the best fat burner. High intensity burns protein, then carb, than fat. (I just learned that from my trainer!) Most sources say don't drop below 1100 calories a day for the unbanded. Especially if you are working out. You'll do it. You've got 5 weeks!

You poor baby. How much are you eating everyday? You might not be getting enough calories. That could account for the headaches and feeling cold. Why are you throwing up? Are you PBing or bringing up real stomach contents? Could your band be too tight if you are nausiated (spelled hella wrong) and throwing up regularly? All of the above symptoms would have me crying too.
  3. The need to rest and heal, you horn dog.

TCTX- Where are you in your cycle? How long has the crying been going on? I know we store estrogen in our fat cells and as we lose weight more courses though our body. Could that be it? Are you hitting weight loss numbers you've not seen in a while? What was going on the last time you weighed 248? Could that be causing you some emotional stuff? Regardless of why it's happening you have my sympathies. Wallygirl123- Welcome. We are mostly March bandsters here. Some of around the first of month, so we're close! Sounds like you are doing very well indeed with your weight loss. OH Juli I don't have any pointers other than warn people to stay out of the way and hope tomorrow is better.
  5. Dude, it's not been a week since you were banded! I thought I was quick to resume activity at 2 weeks. Damn. Like they say, when the pleasure out weighs the pain, you're ready.

Tammyj I've had an attach of the grazing monster too! OMG, it's horrible. Sounds like you are getting back on track though. Good for you! Jogging huh? I think we now know were your butt went. You lost it while you were out running! Your post reminded me that I need to get my daughter signed up for swimming lessons again. Juli
  7. Eddie you'll be ready to hit it again sooner than you might imagine! hehehe
  8. With all this talk, would you like a some help planning this? If so, let me know, I'll make some calls and help organize. OH Juli

You're TALL!!!! In my world if you're over 5'4'' your tall. I work in a school too, but I'm the cafeteria manager. I don't get the June, July and August you get. I'm a 12 month worker, typically I get to projects to manage..and this year we have lots of camps, that I'll be keeping me busy. What do you teach? You'll knock them dead in the fall when you go back to school! The school mentioned above has a fitness center. (That was my project last summer.) I get in there everyday for 30 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of strength training. I try to go for a long bike ride on the weekends. I'm trying to up it a bit. Since I don't have any fill in my band, I eat about 1400 calories a day and I want to keep losing. I can't seem to eat less, so I figure I just need to move more. I have to say I'm feeling better than I have in a long, long time.
  10. Yenken WOOT I'm so happy to see you back!!!!! I'm sure you and your sweetie had a fantastic time. I could insert that nasty fruit sex smilie here. Hee, hee. But you know what I'm talking about. A few pounds lighter and it's already better. I can't imagine what it will be like at goal! I'll happily send you a picture of me and my sweetie to your email but I'm reluctant to put it on the web. She's out to the entire world but not at work. The reality that someone would see it on here is slim, but I have to respect her wishes. She's pretty visable where she works...Female engineer, black and gorgous! I'm not biased! So how did you do with eating while away? Are you in school this summer? Juli

    For you Denise. Juli
  13. Deevah How cute are you two!? Very nice picture. How is your weight loss, compared to each other? Do you get competative? It must be nice to be sharing the experience together. Getting slim and hot(ter) at the same time has got to be great fun! My GF is working on her not very heavy self, she's lost 14 or the 20 she's shooting for, and since I've been dropping pounds rolling around together has been even more fun! I never thought I'd have reason to use that smilie! OH Juli

Denise- I'm slow on the uptake. I know you said we were banded the same day. But we also have similar stats and age. How tall are you? I'm 5'2". You are going gangbusters with your weight loss! What kind of exercise do you do? Oh laundry is the bain of my existance! But I'd rather do the washing than mow the lawn! (I'm single so it's all up to me!) One day I'm going to be able to afford to pay someone to do my yard work. Catch you soon, Juli

Hello Marchies!!!!!!!! Is this just a weekday thread that we mess around on in place of doing work? Having a slow weekend. Doing laundry and reading homework. Trotted aound the zoo for 3 hours this morning too. What's going on?
  16. Welcom Kathyc02 Good to know you found your self. It's not always immediately clear. My daughter will be 6 in September. Eddie- Sounds like you're doing well. Doesn't sound like you need to be encouraged to take those pain meds. Stevee- You're adorable. I don't mean to question your choices about getting banded. Better to get the weight off while you are young than cart it around for an additional 15 years then decide to get serious. Watch out for that inner Hottie, she doesn't look too far hidden from the surface. OH Juli
  17. Stevee you get a real loud awe She's a cutie too. Now are you sure you need the band because you don't look like you weigh that much. I love this band too!!!! Juli
  18. Stevee You're a hoot! I'll have to send a pic from home, I got a new computer at work and I haven't loaded any pics on this one. We look kind of silly together. She's tall, thin and black. I'm short, fat and white. I know what you mean by the booty thing! I didn't have a clue before I met her, but damn..... My sweetie just had her 42nd birthday and is bitchin' about how her boobs are perky like they were before. FFS (for __ck's sake)! How old are yous guys? Juli
  19. Sherilynn- You can start by going to foodtv.com or epicurious.com...there's some fun reading. Thesplendidtable.org is good too. OH Juli
  20. Stevee Hey you soon to be banded girl! What makes up your interracial mix? We are white (me) and black (her). My GF isn't heavy but has been working hard at dropping the extra 15 she's be carrying around. I'm really very touched that she's working out and tracking her food on Fitday.com just like me. We talk heart rate monitors and swap fitness tips. I like your observation about GLBT/LBT--I'll happily identify and a Gay Lap Band Talker! Too cute! OH Juli
  21. You poor baby! I too felt like I was hit by a truck. Everyday it get's better. Keep a pillow handy to hold against your tummy when you cough or heaven forbid, sneeze! Give us progress updates as often as you can.

Hey gang! Tammyj I know what you mean about dragging yourself to the gym some days. But they say no one ever finishes a workout and says I wish I hadn't done that. I'm with you though, there are days I just don't want to do it. This week was/is rough. I've made some choices, like going to a wine and cheese tasting and just having a grazing day where I couldn't stop eating. I'm not seeing any movement on the scale. I'm trying to come up with a plan for the weekend not to eat tons. I hate this unfilled band at times. I guess the up side is that if I'm not successful getting off the 10 pounds I'll get the fill. I'm frustrated. One side I've got rock star status with my surgeon because I lost so much. And I want to continue to be a rock star...but on the other I got the band so I could have some help. And yes the unfilled band helps, but fills would help more. Hurumph. OH Juli
  23. Foodie is a person who is into the origins of food. The science of food is interesting. The history of when we started using forks or how pervasive corn as an ingredient are a great conversation topics. FoodTV was designed for us. There are some values we hold in common like less processed is better...etc. At anyrate, that's my definition.
  24. Hare- Are you following the rules? If not you are only going to hurt yourself. It's not normal. It means something is amiss. Small bites, well chewed is what you need to do. You need to get your nutrition in. OH Juli
