1. I want to be well within normal BMI. I'm committed to getting there too. I don't know what it will feel like, I've never been that small before, but I'm willing to find out.
2. G&R- I too shoot for 1200 calories a day but it's more like 1500. I lost a lot quickly after surgery, close to twenty pounds in 3 weeks. But in the last two weeks I've jumped around the same few numbers on the scale and not losing anything. I'm working out and still trying to be good but I could eat giant portions like I used to. OMG, I want sugar too. I reduced that back in January and now the cravings are killing me. I'm frustrated. Logically I know my body is getting used to the loss but I want a fill and I want the first fill to work. Know what I mean? I've dropped two pant sizes, down to a 26. I have 24s and 22s waiting for me in the closet. After that I'm going to have to buy clothing! Yeah! Good you for tracking your cals, even when you don't want to. Are you on Fitday.com?
3. I was told I was okay to bike 2 weeks after surgery. Enjoy your new toy!
4. Me too. It took 14 mos to get to banded. So worth the wait, don't you think? My first fill is 5-7-07. We are doing this side by side.
5. Beautiful!!!! I love the arched brows and earrings. Fantastic for you!
6. I use fitday.com religiously. I don't think I'd be this successful without it!
7. My daughter is five. We talked about how I'm eating better nutrition now. I did NOT tell her I had surgery because I was fat. I just told her my tummy wasn't working right and the surgery was to fix it. I don't want her to focus on body image or size issues. You know? You'll also not be able to pick them up...so sharing you're having surgery is important. It wasn't that big a deal aside from her telling her entire preschool class I had surgery and wanting to show them my scar by pulling on my top. Also she was concerned when I transitioned from mushies to solids, like you can't eat that! I was surprised how little it actually impacted on her world. Really just know there are no secrets, they will tell someone. :omg:
8. Boo hoo. I'm too fat to run. Actually, my knee got to hurting and I'm afraid that the excess weight is going to hurt my frame if I run at this size. So the plan is to see Onederland then give it a shot again.:think
9. Hi Rodney There is an Ohio list on here, if you've not found it yet.... Juli from Columbus.
10. Deli meat gave me my first golf ball in the chest feeling. Just too much at one time.... Welcome to band land.
11. Wow, how fantastic you look! I'm going to follow your example and work my butt off too. And it is so generous of you to share your experiences with all of us. Thanks for the inspiration. Juli in Ohio
12. I just want to say, that Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday I did the walk/run thing. I'm excited to do it again today. I found this thread just when I needed it. Thanks all you runners! OH Juli
13. I was tired too at that point. Even the third week I was needing to nap many nights after work. It will get better, promise. Juli in OH
14. I was talking with someone today, saying that I feel so much more in control of food now. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> I don't have restriction yet, no fills, but I don’t want to eat everything in sight. Heck, I don't always want to eat everything on my plate. (But there are monthly times that doesn't apply, but still common sense prevails.) I heard it would be like this, but I never really believed it or that it would happen with out restriction. Who knew? Juli
15. Hi Ohio people. Seems like not many of us are from OSU Bariatrics. Just thought I'd shout out. Juli
16. I've been a member of LBT since I started looking into the band....I laid low for months while I went through the very long process of getting banded...14 mos. But I was banded March 8th! I don't get a fill until May 8th. Needless to say my appetite is normal and I feel little restriction. I'm doing good at using my will power to not over eat, but I can't wait for the fill. Nice to see the group or Marchies or Marchers... Happy to be in your company. Juli from Ohio
17. Dawn, Thanks for the encouragement! You rock! Look at your stats and training for a 1/2 marathon! Amazing. I did it. I work out during my lunch hour and today I walked 90 seconds and ran 30. I did that 10 times so for a total of 20 minutes. I'm so proud of me. When I was done with that I did 20 minutes on the elypticial trainer too. Yeah! Oh, can someone tell me how to get rid of "pre bander" under my name? I'm a banded now. Juli
18. It's official. I want to run. I've wanted to run. I've said a million times when I hit x number in weight I will start. But no more. Today I will follow the Shape schedule and run 30 seconds/walk 90 ten times. I've been working out on the elpytical, 30 minutes, intensly for a few months. Thanks for the inspiration! Juli in OH
19. I have to say yesterday's meal went well enough. I certainly ate things I've kept away from, a bite or two of simple carbs, but I at less than half the quantity of food that I normally would have. And I am yet to be restricted. I was banded 3-8-07. Juli in OH
20. Hello everyone. I was banded on March 8th here in Columbus. My doctor has me on mushies already which is a god send. I'm off work until the 27th which makes me happy too. All in all the first few days were HARD, but I'm getting better with each day. Juli
21. Debbie, Thanks...OSU really only got my chart in December. They've been putting me through their paces as quickly as possible. I started at Barix in Groveport, in January 2006. My insurance required 6 mos. of doctor supervised weight loss. I did that from March to September. It took Barix a month to get the info to my insurance, it took my insurance a month to approve me. Which they did in November, but the surgeon from Barix was no longer in network!!!! I don't have it to self pay, so I switched to OSU. And here I am. Whew! Juli
22. I registered with this sight forever ago...I started the process in January 2006 and today a full year and some later I got a date. March 8th I will be banded at the Ohio State University Medical Center. It has been a very long time coming. I'm 38, a single mom with a five year old daughter, work full-time, go to school full-time, and date someone who lives in Michigan. Life is busy. I met Mindful in the flesh not too long ago. We need to meet again! Juligirl
23. Truly a sad day, when he passed away.
24. I was born in Cincinnati, but I'm in COLUMBUS proper, just a few minutes from the campus of the Ohio State University now. I was going to have my lab band done at Barix Clinic in Groveport but my insurance doesn't cover the surgeon. (I was approved for the surgery but not with that doctor if I want more than 60% coverage.) I'm now looking at getting it done at the University Medical Center. Probably a better choice over all. Great to see so many Ohioans on the board. Juli
25. Wow- I've enjoyed reading all the above posts. I've been working through the 6 months of doctor supervised dieting so to be able to get insurance approval. That will be done just after labor day. Have I lost weight? Naw, not so much. But has the time allowed me to strengthen my commitment to getting the band? Absolutely. I'm still a few months away from getting worried or scared. I do think about the implications of how the band will affect change in my life...I'm ready. I'm ready to embrace a whole new attitude toward my body and my health. Thanks so much for the this thread.
