  1. I don't really watch too much of American Idol but I do know this. Sanjaya is a very beautiful man with those big brown doe eyes! Is he really a horrible singer? Are people really voting for him as a joke. I think I'm gonna have to tivo this show and see what all the talk is about.
  2. Wow, this is a tough one. I can think of many reasons this would be a good idea and the same amount of reasons this would be a bad idea. Good question.
  3. I agree with taking guns away from criminals, but if someone is a criminal that means they obviously do things while side-stepping the laws. I'm sure side-stepping the law is exactly how a "criminal" would get a gun. I'm not saying there shouldn't be gun control laws, but I wonder (because I have no idea what the answer is) are there more crimes committed with legal gun ownership or illegal gun ownership? There really is no full proof 100% way to do anything in the world, including taking guns from psychos.
  4. This is heartbreaking and very tragic. My thoughts are definately with the families of these victims. From what I understand he had gotten the gun legally. He showed 3 forms of identification and it all sounds legal. I'm all for gun control but I think it is not hard for people with bad intentions to get a gun no matter what the laws are. I'm not a person with bad intentions, but I happen to be a person who is not allowed to carry, own, possess a firearm due to some stupid decisions I made when I was a teenager. But if I wanted to get a gun and do horrible things with it, I could no problem. I don't think more gun control laws will stop bad people from doing bad things with guns.
  5. This is just a guess. Not trying to be insulting in the least. But do you have children? I'm guessing no. Because I don't think I ever really, truly , knew what full on unconditional love was until I had my first child. Except of course for my wonderful, loving mother. But I loved my newborn even though she didn't really knew I existed. I mean I was probably just a heartbeat sound to her at the beginning.
  6. I often hear people say they have lost the amount of weight they needed to lose 3 times over and such. They also say they were successful on a diet till they got off and then they gained all their weight back. I can't remember a time that I even had temporary success. I think the most I ever lost was 10 lbs on the atkins diet. And I think we all know that your weight can fluctuate 7 lbs in just a day or two so I wonder if I can even count that as weight loss ! lol. I love being with the band.
  7. Dr. Muse does use flouro but he hasn't needed to for me yet. I was last there on April 5th and he said he now has access to flouro tue and thurs in the afternoons. Is it just me or does he look like a cross between Michael J. Fox and Hannibal Lector?
  8. Hi! I'm Becky and I'm a sodaholic. (altogether now) HI BECKY!!!
  9. Two things I have found to be a very tasty substitute for soda is certain flavors of the walmart brand of crystal light. Half cranberry and half grape and half cranberry and half apple. They are EXCELLENT. And no calories. yummmy
  10. I'm doing good, how about yourself? Just resting up today, i'm working some O.T. tomorrow. I am still saving for my plastic surgery. It is so expensive. I have over half of it already though, hoping to have the rest in the next two months.
  11. Rosanne is still one of my most favorite shows. I watch all the re-runs on Nick at Nite. I thought the show lost its funny right after they won the lottery. The whole funny about the show was that it was relatable to me. Poor family, struggles with weight, tomboy, smart ass comments. My mom used to call me Darlene when I was younger because I watched that show and played sports and wanted to be a boy like my twin brother.
  12. I'm not fond of watching other people brush their teeth either. But, I am less fond of talking to the many co-workers I have with rotted out teeth, bad breath and/or chewing tobacco all over their mouth. I brush my teeth/floss/mouthwash at work at least 3 times during my 12 hour shift. I happen to have the locker room to myself because I'm the only girl on my crew but even if there were 50 girls on my crew, I still want to keep my good teeth/breath.
  13. I bought the body bugg last year. I have decided to get it going tomorrow. I just have to get my membership up and running. It is a great program which takes out all the guesswork.
  14. My son was diagnosed with his hearing loss within 48 hours of his birth. We knew from the beginning. He was about 10 weeks premature and was also a twin. I was careflighted to Salt Lake City, Utah to give birth. Apparently it is the law in Utah to test newborns hearing. I guess that law had been passed a couple years earlier. I was shocked that they tested for that and even more shocked when I found out he was deaf. When he got to come home a few months later the Nevada Early Intervention program started coming to my house a few times a month until he was 3 years old to help with his speech/communication development. Now we are waiting to hear back from the school district for further help. He is doing pretty good though we think. And he is very happy.
  15. I have the first two seasons of the Dave Chapelle Show uncensored on DVD. I had never seen the show until I bought those DVD's. It is hysterical and I wish he would have continued with more seasons. In the second season, there is a guy on that show named Bill Burr. He is a comedian from New York. He is often on the Opie and Anthony show on XM Satellite Radio. I think he is the only white guy on that show. He has bright red hair and freckles. He also has a 1/2 hour stand up show on HBO. I would recommend you see it. I think you will like that too. Opie and Anthony are very similar to Howard Stern. In fact they are big time rivals that HATE eachother.
  16. I was told by my surgeon not to drink soda ever again after surgery. He told me it is not a matter of what kind you drink ie: diet/caffiene free/regular it is not the sugar or lack thereof. It is the carbonation that is the bad thing. Every doctor is different. But when I hear just ONE doctor say the carbonation may possibly stretch my pouch. I'm not gonna drink it. I had surgery August 1, 2006. The last soda I drank was three weeks earlier on the 4th of July. I figured I would try to see if I could go three weeks before surgery without it. If I couldn't make the three weeks, then I thought there might possibly be no point in having surgery. It was fine and I never looked back. I did however have a sip of my daughter's diet dr.pepper about 7 months post-op. It was such a horrible feeling I have never craved it since. It made my chest hurt so bad. It took like ten minutres for the feeling to go away.
  17. Well that just goes to prove my other point. People have different senses of humor. I thought this movie was hysterical. I loved it. All of Sacha's characters that I have seen him play (Borat, Ali G, racecar driver in Talladega nights) have made me laugh. It is hard to beleive all those people are being played by the same person. This on the other hand does not make me laugh and sounds pretty awful. This goes beyong someone just saying something rude/offensive to someone else. This ass spit on your grandfather. That is assault.
  18. Julie- the only word that comes to mind is WOW. You are truly an inspiration.
  19. I don't think 72 lbs is unrealistic either. I am 8.5 months post op and I have lost almost 92 lbs.
  20. BORAT WAS THE BEST!!!! So funny that you say the thing about teenage boys. My husband told me last week that have the sense of humor of a 14 year old boy. Tasteless comedies is my thing too. You ever seen those movies that are dubbed "dark comedies" ? The best one I ever saw was called Very Bad Things. It has Christian Slater, Cameron Diaz, Jeremy Piven, Daniel Stern, and numerous other great actors. If you like tasteless comedies you will love that movie I think.
  21. I was banded August 1st 2006. The same month I knew I had to start working out in order for my band to be successful. I decided I was gonna start running. Because I was so overweight, so unfit, and so out of practice, I thought 2 miles would be perfect for me (the beginner) and then I would work my way up. I do not know what on earth made me think I was going to be able to jog 2 miles. When I hit .8 of ONE mile. Didn't even get to one mile.....lol.......I seriously thought I was gonna have a heart attack. I was sweating from places I didn't even know existed anymore. I called my husband on the phone and made him stay on the phone with me until I caught my breath and in case I collapsed he could call 911 and send them to me. NO JOKE. That was what, 8-9 months ago????? Now I am jogging 5 miles (sometimes up to 5.4 miles) 21 days a month. I'm not saying it es easy. But I can do it in 45 minutes and I feel WONDERFUL afterwards. And trust me, I was not vigilant about sticking to the running especially the first two months. I never thought I would be going that far especially on a regular basis.
  22. AZDutchGirl- Welcome to LBT. No matter what your first impressions were about this site. I know you will grow to love this site and all the support/knowledge this group of people can offer. No matter how many classes/websites I went to before my surgery, I learned more here than I ever did from those classes or even my own surgeon's office.
  23. What's a Razzie? Is that the awards show that gives awards for the worst scenes and worst movies and such? I think the Jenny McCarthy movie won worst movie or something last year if that is the same thing.
  24. Sheila- The only reason I am replying to your email here is because I made this a public thread and I want to tell you in front of everyone I do accept and appreciate your apology. I have to say I love that you stand by what you say and you don't let people persuade you into feeling what they feel. I think I did say something negative about Jesse Jackson and I didn't really mean to lump him in anything negative as I don't know as much as I probably should about him so I didn't want to say anything bad about him as I don't feel I have done enough research on him to be fair in any judgements good or bad that I might say about him. I stand by what I said about Al Sharpton. I also want to apolgoize if I said anything that crossed the line about YOU specfically and/or your character. No matter how angry I got at what was said by you or anyone else, I tried to keep a cool head and not attack your personal character which I probably did anyways and for that I do apologize. I also tried to remember that I was on here fighting for free speech whether it was offensive or not. I do think some things that were said, (and right now I am not necessarily just talking about you and me,) were over the top. But it is allowed to be said just the same, no matter how much it bothered me. Nothing I like to see more than a strong woman with a strong pride in who she is. You are definately in my opinion one of those women. Have a good evening too.
