  1. Did my first swim, bike, run combo today. The swim wasn't pretty, I'm sure. Working towards a sprint level triathalon.....must practice swiming! Congrats on everybodys workouts!
  2. Alex posted the other day this site is approaching 2 million posts.... Wouldn't it be great to come from this topic!
  3. Does he suggest maybe "drinking" some calories via Protein shakes/shots? Maybe that would work for you? Maybe check with a nutrition store and look for high(er) cal options....or just speak with your nutritionist for suggestions. I've never had a doctor tell me I need to eat more, but I've read it a lot on here. Best wishes
  4. And a big WINNER for the Cards and Blues tonight!
  5. 4 years post op....never any band problems, not one! Down 135 lbs...feel better than I have ever felt in my life physically, my PCP is thrilled with the health results. Labwork perfect. My surgeon calling me a success. It wasn't always easy or fast for me....but it's so worth it! Also, I couldn't/wouldn't have gotten to where I am today without this very site and the friendships I've made here. The knowledge and motivation I get here is priceless. Sure there will be disagreements over this or that topic, but in the end we all are after the same goal....to be healthy! Never, Ever give up
  6. What I don't understand is people who whine, complain, etc about not being ABLE to afford healthcare insurance while they are talking on their smartphone, watching cable tv, driving around in one or two $30-40,000 vehicles. ... and going to McD's for dinner everyday. I'm tired of paying for those people's ride. ..... I'm all for helping people in NEED, but not freeloaders. And I also don't understand why such a huge difference in billed charges vs negotiated rates? I once got a "bill" for my son having an ingrown toenail removed for $9,995 !! Unbelievable...
  7. I watched this several months back and enjoyed it. I have the Breville juicer in the movie and it works well. I'll add in a 42g Protein shot to about a quart of juice. Makes for a good "breakfast" and "lunch" a couple times a month. I also buy the fresh 100% natural juice ( Naked or Bolthouse brands ) from the supermarket. They are good as well....and easy!
  8. Congrats on your surgery and the beginning of your new life! Take it one day at a time, and the rewards will be so worth the effort. Best wishes!
  9. I'm curious....was it your doctor who said you are not eating enough calories, or someone else?
  10. Good job T!! Just concentrate on getting back to 100%. Glad to hear youre doing better. Have fun at the walk Saturday.

You are doing great! Keep up the good work. One day at a time.
  12. That is the answer! Congrats! Why don't you start a thread titled something like "October fitness challenge" I belong to some on LoseIt. Since everyone may be at different levels, and desire to do different things, one of the ways they track "workouts" is for each workout you do, it counts as one, as long as its appx the calories/exertion you'd expect to burn in 30 minutes of brisk walking. That way it is open to all. People with no legs are in it, as are people that are bedridden. Just each person does what they can do! If you start it, I'm sure there will be people join in....I WILL!
  13. I've had a few that were a couple hours. I just had something light an hour or so before the flights. Never noticed anything different.
  14. Congrats, because you sound excited! I never experience any issues with my band while flying. I haven't been on a 12 hour flight with it though....
  15. I think if my doc said wait 6 weeks, I'd wait 6 weeks.... Walking during the mean time will certainly help. Why take a chace on injuring youself by trying to progress too soon? Just my suggestion.
  16. Hmmm...I think it'd be a good idea to call your doc in the morning to discuss your symptoms. It may be just a cold or something, but couldn't hurt to discuss it with him/her.
  17. did they give you a breathing treatment thing? I didn't experience any significant cough postop....
  18. Welcome! I've learned more from here than anywhere else....You'll meet tons of supportive people on here.
  19. Keep that thought!!!....because the reward IS fantastic! Congrats on moving forward with your journey
  20. /\ /\ This! You CAN do it. The finish line is not as difficult to reach, once you get past the starting line...Congrats!
