Don't sell yourself short! Start with what you can do, and stick with it....VERY gradually increasing. You will amaze yourself at what you can do. The most important step is the first one... Congrats!

Affordable Care Act
For me...my policy is going up $8 per month, compared to 2013. Less than it has went up in any of the past 20 years percentage wise....and the deductibles are the same as they have been for the past 4 years. The coverage is the same, or actually a tad bit better, considering they are adding in "free" vision care. We are changing from Aetna to BCBS because the costs to my employer are CHEAPER.....I have had employer paid (at least a portion of it) insurance for the last 20 years. I happen to like the idea that everyone will be mandated to have medical insurance....as WE, the taxpayers are already paying for it now, for those who don't choose to. I see people all the time who don't have medical insurance, yet they have smart phones, two or three vehicles in their driveway, cable tv, expensive clothes, the newest video gaming system, and on and on and on. I don't pretend to know all the ACA benefits or downfalls...and I'm sure there are plenty of both. But from what I have seen, something had to change.....

Been in a Plateau for the last 1.5 months :(
Just some suggestions: A quick check using the information (age, Height, weight) from your profile and inputting "very active" on this BMR calculator would seem to indicate your's is around 2550. http://www.mayoclini...culator/NU00598 It would look as though someone (maybe your trainer?) has suggested you consume protein every 2 waking hours? I'd suggest asking your weight loss surgeon/nut to verify this should be your goal. I'm a bit leary of someone saying I have to eat every two hours to keep my metabolism going...Just my opinion. You indicate you are having 5 protein shakes/smoothies per day, plus 3 meals. If your shakes/smoothies are 250 calories each, plus three meals at 4-500 each, you're at or over your daily BMR.... I know you state youre very active as a gym rat....how many calories per day are you burning at the gym/exercising? I don't count input calories anymore, but did for 6 months and it was interesting. I found exactly what I've always heard. 3500 calories is a pound. Either way. I'm guessing here, but maybe eliminating a couple shakes/smoothies a day would help. Congrats on your loss! And for the high level of exercise...IT WILL PAY OFF.

Juicing?
Day before yesterday I went to the local supermarket...apples were on sale for $.98 per pound. I bought about 10lbs of apples, spinach, a couple bags of carrots, a couple pounds of beets, and some cucumbers. Made almost a gallon of fresh juice. I use "new whey 42g liquid protein" fruit punch flavored shots when I'm not hungry, or just don't feel like "eating" Protein. I'll take about 8-10 oz of juice, mix in half a tube of protein ( 21 grams ) and have a couple of these throughout the day. I don't juice all the time, but this works well to get in your protein, with the added benefit of the veggies and fruit. Also, there are several brands of all natural juice in my local area now. Naked, Bolthouse Farms and others. Easy and quick for on the go when you don't feel like making fresh....or are traveling.

Congrats on your great success! Always encouraging to hear veteran bandsters on here doing so well.

I'm Curious as to Why....
Your post was spot on! Its calories in vs calories out...we all know that. As I was looking through my VFW magazine the other day, and then looked at other Veterans mailers/flyers I get, I discussed with a co-worker this exact thing. SO many of us have been "fit" before in our lives....maybe we were in some organization that "made" us stay in shape, then when we are no longer "required" to do the exercise/PT, we don't change our eating habits. Take a look at the size of most of the folks in those magazines....it'll be evident. I could diet on my own like most everyone...for the short term. Done it many times. Then get lazy, relaxed, whatever. Right back to the poor eating habits (several large plates of food) and lack of exercise....and gain back more than I lost. Thats why I needed WLS...for the long term. And a little NSV for me today...I put on my Class A jacket....AND IT FIT! First time in 20 years!

Had a bit of a lazy couple of days the last two...but did a Sprint level Triathalon today. It was just on my own, but felt good to get it done. The pool was occupied with an aerobics class, so I did the Ride then Run, then went inside to do the Swim. Just a nice comfortable pace today. 20k ride = 43:54 5K run = 28:41 500M swim = 14:40 Total time = 1:27:15 Happy Wednesday everyone! Now lets go CARDINALS!! Game one of the World Series tonight.

First attempt at fill unsuccessful :(
Not only can the fluoro be useful in locating the port early on, ( when its more "hidden" ), but more importantly, it allows your surgeon/fill doctor to SEE what they are doing during the adjustment, and that all is well with your band. Instead of just the guessing method....

Yesterday was lap swimming for me. ... Omg I swim like a rock! ...Im serious. ..I think I used to be better. But, did finish the 500 meters needed for a sprint tri. A 5km run coming up at 5pm today in a little town down the street from me. Going to have a good time. .. no matter the "time". But I've got a goal today. Enjoy your Saturday everyone! Was a nice turnout today for the "Freaky 5k" http://connect.garmin.com/activity/392728161
