  1. I just had my 2nd fill on Wed (surgery on Oct 1) and for the first time, I felt restriction. even when I swallowed the Water when he still had the needle stuck in, I felt it go down slower than usual. After dinner that nite, I felt really full, almost couldn't drink anythng the rest of the nite. Then, yesterday, the day after my fill, I'm back to normal, eating anything I want. I asked my doc abouit how many I might need and he said most people have good restriction by the 3rd fill. He scheduled me for another 6 weeks, but said if by 3 I wasn't losing, to call and come in for another. I really thought I'd had the restriction I hear so many people talk of. Could I have restriction for just that day and not anymore? How many of you felt a good restriction and lost weight at that in 3 and under fills? He didn't want to overfill it cuz I live 3 hrs away. Now I wish he had put a smidge more in, maybe it would've lasted longer? Does this even make sense to anyhone, to have good retrction for just 1 day and then none? Blessings! Marci
  2. Thanks everyone. I AM proud of my losss so far. When I went home for Thansgiving my mom said she couldn't tell a difference. That really hurt me. Other people said thhey had, but leave it to mom to say no.They see these shows on gastrci bbypass on tv and thought I'd be one of thos ladies. I do know that I do nneed to jump start my once weekly treadmill walk into an everydaay thing. I jhave another fill on Dec 16 and I'm praying this will help my hunger. I'm hoping to be able to put my fork down after only a few bites of Christmas dinner. Thanks again for all the help. I don't know where i'd be without this site! Blesssings! Marci
  3. I had my surgery on OCt 1. i lost about 12 lbs following my docs liquid post surgical diet, and about another 12 lbs since my 1st fill ( 5cc) which made me feel no difference whatsoever, I lost it mainly becuase I wanted to, not becuase my stomache was telling me not to. I can eat anyting I want noww, including bread, rice, Pasta - I feeel like I have no restriction whatsover. I was hoping evefything I put in my mouth since I hjad my first fill Nov th, would make me sick - that I would truly stay away from again. I have a 2nd fill on Dec 16, and I'm wondering if this too is just a promise of restriction when it's reallly not. I know the magic may not happen till the 3rd fill, but does something happen after the 2nd? I'm praying that it does. I had this surgery for a reason and I'm praying that it works. I understand that I need to knock my excercise into gear whch I really v haven't done much of lately), but other than excersise, can I have hope that this 2nd fill will help more than the first fill? Thanks! Marci
  4. I feel your pain. Can you tell me how many fills you;vve actually had so far? My OCt 1 surgery isn;'t doing what I'd hoped it would either. I lost 12 lbs mostly due to the strict Fluid diet afterwards, But I've only lost another10 lbs since mhy first fill on Nov th. I got 5cc in. And I have another fill scheduled for Dec 16th. Will the 2nd fill help at all? Or do I truly have to wait till that majic 3rd fill before I start losin mroe. I have no restrcition at all right now, after 1 fill. I can eat bread, Pasta, rice, and almost anything. Was hoping 1 of these iterms would makke me sick, but none ever did. When will I get some restriction? Love, Marci
  5. I did ok - coulda be better.I'm at my families in CA now (I live in OR) and they keep alot of food at the house. Yesterday, I didn't eat any breakfast (I know, I know, not sposed to do that) and then for the FEAST I ate: A spoonful of mashed potatoes, a spoonful of dressing, some turkey, cranberry sauce, and about half my plate was broccoli and green Beans. I was too full for pie - in fact I think I hear it calling my name right now! All in all I think I did a pretty good job. coulda been better, but I don't feel guilty. Blessings! Marci
  6. I would also keep looking. Orange County isa big area that;s bound to have lots of dr's. I paid $300 that included the nutritionist, the 2 hr class they require, and a "goody" bag (with a measuring cup, some Protein shakes to try, breath mints, lip balm, and a little cooler). I do however have to pay about a $1200 copay, as Medicare doesn't cover 100%. That's fine with me. My first yr of fills are free, btw. Good luck to you! Marci
  7. I guess I'll have to be the difficult one on here - I find it very hard to not automatically drink Water with my meals. It seems like whenever I make something to eat, I grab a bottle of water - then I remember. You may want to hold off on the spicy foods until you get used to it - I had some Tabasco with some eggs last week and forgot - I HAD to drink some water with it. It's only been 6 weeks with me, so I'm not into a regular routine yet either, I'm sure I'll get used to it. Blessings! Marci
  8. I was going to ask this same ? today! I'm going home to Ca forThanksgiving (from OR) and my mom has managed to let everyone know what I've done - so I'm sure all eyes will be on me. I had my band on Oct 1, so I'm into real foods and even had my first fill last week. I still feel no restriction at all. My doc says sometimes it takes 3-4 before feeling a good restriction. I was doing so well the first 3 weeks, lost 21 lbs - then gained 7 lbs of it back over the last 3 weeks. I'm still down 14 and I'm back on track on what I need to do. And a darned turkey isn't gunna wipe me out of the race! Blessings! Marci
  9. M y doc does a 4 week liquid diet, followed by 1 week mushies and then reg. I only lasted 3 weeks before I ate some scrambles eggs tho - I was literally starving! Good luck to you!
  10. There, I saiid it. I regaind 12 of the 21 lbs I had lost. I thought for sure that this first fill would help, the doc said it would. While I'm not starving, I'm not full either. I know it takes a few fills to hit my "sweet spot" and I cannot wait for that. My doc said he put in 4cc ina 14 cc band - a little much for the first time, but I begged to him to give me as much as he could. Tomorrow I'm starting fresh, anew. I thought I'd be working on the 226 lbs I weighed, but now it's as if I'm starting from scratch. And to be quitw honest, I haven't exercised but twice since getting my band on Oct 1. So go ahead and let me have it!!
  11. YEAH! congrats! I too can't wait till I fit into my 14 jeans - they fit me just 2 yrs ago. 1/2 of my closet is 14 - the other half is 16/18, 20/22, 24/26. I've now lost 20 lbs (was banded on Oct 1) but can't tell a difference in my clothes. When did yours start hanging on you? Blessings! Marci
  12. I've used the acai pills along with the colon cleanse stuff. Made me potty an awful lot and I ddin't see any weight loss. I've seen on The Doctors where the whole acai berry is a great antioxidant, but for weight loss - I doubt it. I wouldn't waste my money. BTW, if you got the pills for really cheap (or even free) on the internet, they have a scam. Read the fine print. If you don't cancel your pills in 14 days (I didn't even get mine within the 14 days), they will bill you monthly and send them to you whether you want them or not. And they're not cheap (like $70) Good luck! Marci
  13. I was supposed to be on liquids only for 4 weeks - 2 weeks into it, I couldn't stand it anymore. I ate some oatmeal and that went down ok, then I ate some scrambled eggs. They went down fine also. And cottage cheese. I got my band on Oct 1 (3 weeks ago) and I got on the scale yesterday and gained a lb! I'm truly not eating very much, but after drinking and eating nothin but poscicles and Jello, I guess anything I eat will make me gain. If I had to do it all over again, I would have stuck to the liquids. I feel so stupid. Blessings! Marci
  14. I'm feeling ya! I'm only 11 days out and on a 4 week liquid only diet - I fear I won't be able to last. I had to go to the store today to pick up milk and smelled the fried chicken - OMG. eVEN THE fruits and veggie looked good to me. I don't think my office informed me of the hunger either, I thought I woulnd,'t be hungry at all. I go in for my first fill on Nov 4th and I'm praying that will help, but it;s almost a month away. At least I'll be on soft foods by then. Cottage cheese even sounds good to me right now! I can barely stand the sight of Jello. Blessings!
  15. Congrats! I can't wait to post that I've lost 71 lbs! You'll get to your goal, just take your time, that way it will most likely stay off. Bllessings!
  16. I'm starving too! I'm a week out and still in the 4 week liquid only diet (altho I added tomato Soup and it wasn't on the list but it makes me feel satiated. I knoow I'm going to despise Jello after all of this too! So many people get to start eating sooner than me,makes me wonder if it's safe for those people, why not me?? Think I'll order a pizza now Just kidding. Hang in there, you've got plenty of company in the same boat. ((HUGS))
  17. Today is my week out and I've lost 11 lbs! I'm very happy about that, starving, but happy! I know it won't always be like this, so I'm enjoying it while I can~ Congrats on your weight loss! Marci
  18. I'm a week out and still have considerable discomfort. OK, Pain. And when my cat jumped up onto my belly today, I thought I'd go thru the roof.I talked to my doc yesterday about it and he said to take warm showers, that would help. I'm taking liquid vicodin and it''s ok, not great, but ok. I didn't have a hernia repair also tho - you have 2 things to hurt from. I just wanted you to know that I know how you;re feeling and give you a big (((HUG))) Blessings! Marci
  19. Thanks everyone. My doc is 3 hrs away, so unless I'm in unbearable pain, I'm not going in. But I did call them today - they told me to take warm showers, use the heating pad, continue with my pain meds and take it easy. I didn't do the treadmill today. I have no clue how people go back to work days after the surgery - I don't work so that helps. I've had 3 laparoscopies (infertility) before and they weren't this bad. The gas pains are pretty much gone, I'm just really sore now. Thanks for the great ideas everyone! I'm glad I called my doc - the nurse said itwas normal to still be in discomfort after a week. Blessings! Marci
  20. Alot more than I thought it would. And if I have to cough or sneeze - I'm in excruciating pain. If I'm perfectly still, I'm ok, but when I move around, I;m in pain. And my belly looks like someone kicked me. I've heard people on here that are fine the next day - I'm still taking the liquid vicodin and see no end in sight. Am I unusual or does everyone have this much pain 6 days post - op?And you;d think it;d get better with each day, but it's about the same. Am I normal? Blessings! Marci
  21. ((Bethany)) I was banded the same day as you and like you, struggle with the gas pains. Today was my first day on the treadmill and I found it did help some. I hear sleeping while in the recliner helps too. Good luck to you and I;m interested in what everyone else has to say about it. Blessings!! Marci
  22. I truly am physically hungry, pangs and everything. The food commericals on tv are killing me. I'm on a liquid only diet for 4 weeks - and I've found my saving grace: tomato Soup. I eat 3 oz of it at a time about 4 times a day. But I didn';t think I'd be so hungry so early on. My first fill is Nov 4th - will that help with the hunger? I can't wait to start eating real food again and I'm not afraid of overearing as I'm full after eating the tomato soup. So, do any of you guys recently banded get so hungry, or is it just me? Blessings! Marci PS: Got on the scale today (day #6) and I;;ve lost 7 lbs!! YEAH!)
  23. still pretty sore. Is it just me? I see so many people on here and it was nothing to them - I'm telling ya, I'm definately sore. And the bruises on my belly! Everyone at the hospital was sooooo nice, knowledgable, and patient. I'm drinking my 3 oz Protein shakes every hour and my Jello. Going home today (it's 3 hrs away from home and my BIL who brought me wanted me to stay one more nite just in case something happened). I had to spend 1 nite in the hospital - that's ok, I got the good drugs. Now, I'm off to lose some weight!! While I'm not really hungry, I do think about food constantly - especially when my borther in law eats. I just ask for a smell - how pathetic is that?4 weeks on this liquid only diet - ugh. Question: I'm sposed to add yogurt when I get to the soft stage in 4 weeks. But can I drink the yogurt drinks? Blessings! Marci
  24. I'm just curious -why would I not be able to ear pineapple? It's my fav fruit and I've never heard this before. Please tell me why? Blessings! Marci
  25. I'm scheduled for my band on Oct 1 - and I just put an order in for the online GNC for Monster Milk (choc)and a dozen Isopure Fruit drinks with the 40 gms of Protein per bottle. I wish my local GNC stocked samples of Protein shakes - wouldn't that be great? I hope they;re good cuz they sure cost a pretty penney! Anyone tried the Monster Milk from GNC? How bout the Isopure fruit drinks? Blessings! Marci
