I am so glad to hear someone else say that too. I see those commercials now and laugh. I use to listen to see if there was any hope of them saying something different, but all I heard was the safe false hope...blah blah blah.:tt1: If it was not for my husband and friends this would be a very lonely journey! Congrats and keep moving forward!

  4. It's week 18 post-op! Still feeling quite the fine lady! It's starting to get cold here in Denver and so I picked up a couple of sweaters. It's the first time I have worn a sweater and not felt like a "pig in a blanket". I had a rough night last night. Did not sleep much at all. I ate a hard boiled egg for breakfast that morning and it all went crazy downhill after that. It did not get stuck or cause me slime, but everything else the rest of the day just felt like it was sitting like a rock in my stomach. And the burping...EWWHHH:scared2: So last night I tossed and turned and turned and tossed but slept mostly sitting up which is not fun! This morning I still felt a little off so I skipped breakfast and had soup for lunch. After that I felt fine. But, here is what cracks me up about myself now. My body makes the weirdest noises through my throat. I can just be sitting there and all of a sudden an alien starts to growl. It's the most weirdest sound. When I go to bed at night it's really noticeable. Double Double Boil and trouble! Anybody else get this? It's not something I can't deal with but it sometimes happens when I really don't need it to, like a quiet meeting or a romantic moment with hubby! :crying: I have not weighed yet. I think I am going to wait until Oct. 3rd. After all that body weirdness I think I just want to wait. My jeans are starting to feel loose again. I am wearing some 16's now. And might I digress a bit....why don't the clothing makers make a standard size? I have Levi's in 18, Just My Size in 16, Cato's in 14 and Lane Bryant across the board with that new single size and color method! Really people..I am not a twister board..Get it together! I am looking forward to my Hawaii trip in between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Can't wait for my family who has not seen me to see me. It will be a great "Ta-Da" moment! I am still exercising, still belly dancing, water aerobicing (is that a word?) and doing weights. I am getting stronger each week. So there you have it family....my weekly progress!

  6. Don't go to the dark side! Stay in the light! (smile) Really, be determined and stay within doc restrictions. I know that sounds easy but I know you can do it. I have faith in you!
  7. I have been banded for 17 weeks now. I have lost 65lbs. I am happy with my decision. The best advise I can give you is this.... You MUST be ready for this change in your head and heart. The band is a tool to be used, not a miracle worker. You will hear this theme over and over in this forum but it's the honest truth! I went through a range of emotions. I have only gotten stuck once, which was not fun. I also exercise five days a week and make that a priority in my life. I schedule it like I do any other appointment and don't take it for granted! Do your research, journal a lot and take it day by day

I read this with one of my pups was comfy in my lap. I have two Shih Tzu's. They patiently await their turn! Animals help us heal...love them! Sounds like you are on track and I wish you much success!

When I did not have restriction I had a hard time slowing down. It's hard to change habits so quickly but I got a watch and made myself slow down. I also made my husband slow down. We'd take a bite, chat, put the silverware down and enjoy each other's company. He has been a huge support. Now that I have restriction. I have no choice in the matter anyway...eat to fast...want to throw up. Giggle. You will get there.
  11. It takes a couple of fills to get your restriction. Be patient and it will come. I did not have have good restriction until I hit 5.9cc's and that is where I am now. In the meantime, be good to yourself. Watch what you eat and do something exciting to pass the time. You will get there my friend.
  12. Hi Family! Today is my 17 week post-op date. As I sit and reflect on my progress I can't help but to be grateful. As I see the numbers go down on the scale, I know it will be the last time I see those numbers as long as I continue to do what I need to do. Eat right, exercise, take care of myself. I always heard people say...the band is a tool. Now I can really and truly say I understand that. It is not a miracle worker, an overnight fixer, a cure-all. You MUST....can't stress that enough....YOU MUST be ready for this in the head. If you are not you are setting yourself up for a huge disappointment. I was ready....I do my work...I am within reach of my goal. I have to share some things in case someone else has these issues. For the first time in my life, I had some strange things go on with my period. My last period was for 10 days and then within 12 days I had another period. I went to my doctor and they don't think it's serious but blood work was performed to be sure. Losing weight so fast can cause other things to go out of whack. I just want to share this with you because it's important to know your body will be a little confused with itself sometimes. (sorry fella's guess you did not really need to hear that but my ladies did) We are amazing and wonderful creatures. The body is fabulous and can bounce back from anything, just take care of it because you only have one. Also, the mood adjustment has been CRAZY! :tongue_smilie: One minute I will be on cloud nine, then something simple will just tick me off to no end. I'll stay mad for a little bit then I am back to being happy. There have been many "blah" days while on this journey. Sometimes I just don't know how to feel, then I am fine. Sometimes little things urk me, but I am over it in a heartbeat. Strange....yes I know....but you have to remember my body is changing and changing fast. All this weight loss has to effect me somehow. But overall...I am so happy I did this for myself. I wish I would have considered it earlier but maybe I was not ready for it earlier. So I embrace it, learn from it and work my band like the wonderful tool it is. I did not weigh this week. I don't weigh all the time. I do not choose to be a slave to that scale anymore. As long as I feel good, and my clothes are getting loose I am fine. I try to at least weigh once every two weeks just to make sure I am still on the journey line. So that's it for today folks. I just have to advise you to love yourself and enjoy the journey. It did not take just one night to become overweight and it will not take one night to lose it all. Be patient and loving to yourself and you will be within reach of your goal soon!

I felt this for the first time this week. I am at 5.9cc's and totally happy but yesterday I could not get much down. I did not force it, just went with the flow but now that I think back on it, I was very busy and rushing around with clients. I have heard stress can make you tighten up a bit. Keep tabs on it and report those things to your doc! Congrats on your 30lbs! And before you know it, you will be reporting another 30lbs gone!

It takes a few fills to get to the sweet spot. Hold on, try to make wise decisions and keep sugar free treat at hand. Chocolate Jello Pudding helped me so much! Have you started to exercise yet? Do fun stuff....Belly Dance, Zumba, Water Aerobics. It really helps. I know I would not have lost as much if I had not started my exercise early.
  17. I am standing on the sidelines with pom poms and a mini-skirt! RAH! RAH! RAH!

Wow...I was on liquids for three days before surgery so by the time I got to the surgery table I was asking for flavored anesthesia. I asked for cheese flavored! Had everyone on the floor! Your last meal was awesome!

Wow...I did not think of that! That will be great when I have to return to mushies after a fill! Thanks for the heads up!
  20. I have tried on EVERYTHING in my closet. I have a wonderful dilemma....NOTHING FITS! All my dresses hang funny, my jeans are baggy and my shirts are falling off the shoulders! I have had to buy new underwear and bras to boot. Right now they just have to make due because I am not buying many clothes only to wear them for a few weeks then get more. The thrift shops are good and I have been hitting those up and I have a friend who is size 16 that has given me a lot of things to tide me over. I am taking all the TOO BIG stuff to the consignment shop so I can finance my new wardrobe! I have dropped another five pounds for a grand total of 65 pounds in 16 weeks! I added weights to my exercise routine this week and I am sure my body will sculpt up pretty nicely as long as I keep it up. But who wants to turn back now! By Christmas I could be in UNDERLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Life is good. I am at my sweet spot and everyday I have people seeing what wonderful results I have accomplished. Yes...I ACCOMPLISHED....don't let anyone tell you this is the easy way out. It is NOT. I do what I am suppose to...eat right and exercise. I just have a tool that assists me in the process. Easy way out my foot!!!!!!! I have a very supportive sister who I adore. I am almost at her weight and I think it's freaked her out a bit. She's not the jealous type but in about four more pounds I am going to be her weight and I think that makes her a little sad. You see...I was ALWAYS the heaviest sister. I can hear it in her voice but she still is so supportive, loving and kind. It was just sad to hear that little twinge in her voice when I told her I am down to 215. I feel good...I feel like shouting it from the roofs. There is a little pep to my step and a sway in the hips. This caterpillar is developing her wings and will be breaking out of her cocoon soon! I am BLESSED ya'll..... BLESSED!!!!!!!!!!!!

  22. I was sick the first night but after that I slept! AND SLEPT AND SLEPT! I would be in mid-sentence with my husband and fall asleep! It was not rough for me. I just saw it as my body healing so I just let it happen. Your body just has to adjust. Hang in there!
  23. If one thing is a recurring theme about the band is that .... everyone is has a different story. I am at my sweet spot. I can eat about a cup of food, sometimes less, then be full between meals. I have 5.9cc's in my band and was stuck just once. The crazy thing about getting stuck for the first time is you don't know if you are stuck or if you are overfilled. I thought I was overfilled because I had just had a fill. It sounds like you are doing good. Maybe try adding a new exercise each week to freak out your body a bit. I wish you joy!
  24. Wow! What a journey for you. I know you are frustrated. You will get there! Hold on mama, your day is coming!
  25. How amazing is this new body of mine? I lost an additional 5 pounds this past week. I am moving like never before, enjoying my new body and the new clothes that come with it! I am sleeping better, walking better, and breathing better! I currently have 5.9cc's in my band. I am at my sweet spot! I just can't say it enough.....I am one happy lady. I have to say the emotional part has been a journey as well. Some days I feel invincible, others a bit scared. As I am shedding these pounds other things come up that I have to tackle. But I am taking it one day at a time and that's fine by me. I seem to have the most trouble with breakfast. I tend to be tight in the mornings. It was suggested to drink some warm tea 30 minutes before breakfast. I do that sometimes, other times I just eat what I can then move forward. I am starting to wonder if I will have a lot of loose skin. I seem to be dropping so fast. I exercise five days a week but I really need to add weights. I just hate that part. I could do cardio all day. I do like my Wii Fit so I am trying to include that in my workouts at least twice a week to start. Boy were my thighs sore that first workout! Whew! As far as I am concerned that Wii was a good investment toward my health. (wonder if you could write that off toward health expenses!) All in all, I am still happy and wish I would have done this sooner!
