New to this site, Dallas Tx
Hi Lisa!!! This website will definitely be very supportive. Congrats for getting back to it and starting all over. Good luck with your liquid diet. How long do you have to be on one for? Since your band is already in place did you just go in and get a fill?

Wooooooo-Hooooooooooooooooo!!!!

What would you do?
1. How much less I eat and don't crave junk food 2. It's been easy to lose the weight 3. How good I feel

Full or stuck?
When I get that feeling it's my key to slow it down. That's when I put the chicken breast down and sit there for about 5 minutes. Then I pick up my fork again and resume eating.

Do you attend support groups?
I'm on this website all this time, this is my support group. Other than that there are several people who I know that have had the surgery and funny enough it was all with the same doctor so I kinda compare notes with everyone.

HUUUUUGE Accomplishment!
Good for you! What an awesome accomplishment. Hopefully you and your son will have many more memories like that.

this and that
I tell you what that was a really great self esteem moment for me. I haven't been this thin in over 10 years and even though I still have a ways to go I'm already feeling so much better about myself and the way I look.

"doesn't look like you're losing any weight"
Unfortunately right now you are in bandster hell. I would call your doctor and schedule a fill. go in every 3 weeks until you get to a good restriction. Good luck.

why lap band ... as opposed to other surgery
For me it was an easy decision. #1 I did not want my insides rerouted. No way. #2 Too many complications!!! #3 Death rate from GB is too high

Tight in the morning
I'm to the point where I'm very tight in the mornings. I usually have Carnation Instant Breakfast. That way i at least get some good protein in. By lunchtime I can eat food but I get full pretty fast and then by dinnertime I can eat alot more.

Urghhhh...Stupid Oreo Cookies!
5 oreos? Kudos for stopping there. Shoot back in the day I could eat the whole row in a package. Don't beat yourself up. Pick yourself up and throw away the rest of the oreos. lol.

Was this a PB?
Kinda sorta. Only nothing came up. It's just a warning to slow down and chew.

6 Month Bandaversary and down 60 lbs!
Great job! I am right on track with you. IN 2 weeks is my 6 month bandiversary and I will be probably at the 60lbs mark too!!! It feels so great knowing that much weight is gone forever! Makes you think how you even carried all that extra weight around.

Can you ever eat 'regular' food again?
I'm 5 months banded and I can "eat normally" just alot less portions. I can eat a 6" sub from subway. I can have a piece of bread with my dinner. Though I usually don't because by the time I eat my meat and veggie i'm too stuffed to even think about bread. I can eat a salad. I have no problems eating any food I want to eat. I just be careful, take small portions and take my time. I only get stuck when I eat too fast and don't take the time to chew my food.

confess you lap band sin
My sin for yesterday was for dinner I had chinese food. I had won ton soup, an eggroll, a little bit of my dinner and ice cream for dessert.

WTF?!?! I Stopped Losing Wt after 25 LBS post op???
Have you measured yourself? Are you losing inches? My doctor told me you go through stages where you lose weight and then you go through stages where you shrink. You could be shrinking. Maybe you are building muscle. Only other piece of advice I can offer you is to change up your diet. Our bodies are crazy sometimes. I know mine I can eat good all week and not lose a lb but the minute I eat something bad for me the next day I lose 2 lbs.

Help!
Your doctor does fills every 3 months? I get a fill every 3-4 weeks. You need another fill ASAP. Good for you though for throwing out the ice cream and contacting your nutritionist. Good luck to ya!!!

Good restriction, so why the hunger pains?
Probably because your band is looser in the evenings than it is in the mornings. My doctor told me that I would probably be much hungrier in the evenings and less hungry in the mornings. So far that seems to be true.

when did you see a skinnier person in the mirror?
About 45 - 50 lbs in. I could see my collar bone get bonier. My shoulders are beginning to get bony and i'm starting to notice i'm getting more of a shape in my back end. I haven't really noticed anything in my thighs yet though I have lost weight there. In my legs around my knee i've lost some weight. I'm actually starting to get knee caps.

To Diet Or To Lifestyle
That's definitely true. The word diet sets you up for failure right there. You have to change your eating habits because obviously since we are obese it hasn't been working for us. Since I got banded I've made sure I eat fruits and veggies daily. I don't buy junk food. If i'm at someone's house (like a party or something) and it's there I will have some but I don't buy it. Same thing with Cookies, cakes and brownies. Usually those items were at the top of my to buy list. Not anymore. I try to stick to healthier foods whenever I can. If not I allow my self to have 1 or 2 or a half piece or whatever, just not the whole bag or the whole pan. I don't really think about them much anymore.

What has been your experience in losing/gaining weight after surgery, before 1st fill?
I didn't lose much. I had 5 weeks in between my surgery and 1st fill. I probably lost about 7 lbs in between. I lost 5 from being on the liquid diet for 2 weeks and then for the mushies and the transition back to solids i didn't lose anything and then I finally lost about 2 lbs and went for my 1st fill.
