70 lbs

As of this morning I have lost 70 lbs!!!! I was ecstatic. I have never lost this much weight in my life.   This journey has not been easy. I have to work hard. I watch what I eat and I exercise. It's not fun when you are on vacation and can't really enjoy yourself at a restaurant because you know if you're not careful food can easily get stuck and bam you need to find a bathroom. On a recent trip to Disney World I couldn't enjoy myself at Chef Mickey's because I kept getting stuck. I spend the majority of my dinner running to the bathroom. It sucked.   What was even more embarassing is we were eating lunch at our hotel and there wasn't a restroom around and I got stuck and had to throw up right there at the table. That was pretty embarassing. Thank god there weren't alot of people around and I got myself unstuck asap.   Anyway, my 1 year goal is to be in onederland. I am 43 lbs away. I'm sure with hard work I will reach my goal.

this and that

I tell you what that was a really great self esteem moment for me.   I haven't been this thin in over 10 years and even though I still have a ways to go I'm already feeling so much better about myself and the way I look.

Measurements

So a month into being banded it finally dawned on me to take my measurements and at the time my weight was 283 lbs. These were my measurements:   Bust 49 1/2 Waist 49 1/2 Hips 62 Thigh 35 Arm 18 1/2   2 months later I finally got around to doing it again. My weight was 270 and my measurements are as follows:   Bust 47 1/2 down 2 inches Hips 59 1/2 down 2 1/2 inches Waist 46 down 3 1/2 inches Thigh 32 down 3 inches Arm 18 down 1/2 inch   For a total inch loss of 11 1/2 inches!!! I couldn't believe it!!! That is almost a foot off my body. Amazing.

Exercise

Exercise. That's a new concept for me. I've never been active my entire adult life. Sure in high school I was involved in track and ran 5 days a week but that's it. Since then nothing. So I wanted about 4 weeks after my surgery to begin exercising.   I don't have the money to go to a gym right now so I have to make due with what I have. I started my new adventure with home exercise aerobic tapes.   The first couple of weeks it was hard. Getting my butt up off the couch sucked. But after a couple of times of doing it an amazing thing started happening, I started to get energy.   For the first time in my life I have all this energy and I don't know what to do with it all. I am about 4 weeks into my adventures of working out and I workout about 1-4 days a week depending on my schedule. I feel great and everyday I'm finding new tapes that I really like.   My favorites are the taebo basic workout (yes the old VHS tapes that came out like 10 years ago) followed up by Walking Away the Pounds the 1 mile.   My other new favorite is Power90X the cardio workout step 1 & 2. I did that for the 1st time last night and it was awesome. You sweat alot but you feel great afterwards.     Maybe I'll venture into taking nature walks next. Stay tuned!

My Journey

Lets see. I've never blogged before about anything but there's always a first.   I'll start with the story of how I got fat. When I was a child we lived in the city and I had a bunch of friends I was always active, always outside playing with my friends. I also had to walk to school every day. I was thin.   Then when I was 8 years old we moved out to the country. Well back then (24 years ago) it was still country). I didn't have any friends. It was hard for me to meet new people as i was very shy. I also didn't get outside to play as much. Since we lived so far out I didn't walk to school anymore. That's when I began to gain a bit of weight. I was about 10 to 20 pounds overweight from that time out.   Fast forward to high school. In high school I weighed 150 lbs but felt so much fatter than the other girls. Even though I really wasn't. Because of this I became depressed. I spent my teenage years hiding away in my room sleeping every afternoon after school and not doing anything about the additional 20 lbs or so I was carrying. I did try to lose some weight but back then it was if you needed to lose weight you starved yourself. So I only ate once a day. Obviously not healthy at all.   After high school I probably gained about 20 lbs a year. By the time I was 20 I weighed over 200 pounds. This is when I began to diet. I did dexatrim, doctors diets, I joined a program called Form You 3 which didn't work at all and I even went as far as to go on phen phen. Yea very dangerous and stupid of me!   When I was 25 I weighed 270 pounds and still I did nothing about my weight even though my best friend was getting married and I had to stuff myself into a dress.   At age 27 I finally decided to do something about my weight. I went to the doctor and went on phenmenterphine which is a diet pill. It worked and I lose 20 some lbs only to go off it 4 months later and regain the weight and then some 3 years later. That's when I did weight watchers. Again, same result. Only this time my weight ballooned to 290.   This past summer I decided it was time to focus on me, get myself healthy.   So this past January I got banded and have followed the rules and so far so good. I've lost 33 pounds and feel awesome about myself. I'm looking forward to my journey!
