  1. Hey don't get down on yourself. Everybody's body looses weight differently! I would go and get another fill. You should stay on top of your fills that way you get the most effectiveness out of your lapband. Make sure you eat a protein heavy diet and avoid any "slider" foods. Also, make sure you start some kind of exercise program. Whether it's light walking or whatnot that will help you feel better physically as well as help with more weight loss. YOu will get there! Just keep it up.
  2. That is so awesome! Congratulations!
  3. Thank you! This will be my 1st time as a MOH so I'm nervous! Right now just trying to be a really supportive friend. it's going to be crazy hopefully the seamstress is experienced in major alterations! I don't want to order a size smaller because if for whatever reason I don't lose the weight then it would be too tight and possibly won't fit. Boy oh boy why couldn't she just wait a year, it wouldn't be that much of an issue then! lol.
  4. Good luck on your new journey! LB is a great tool to help you lose weight!
  5. My best friend is getting married in October. She just got engaged and wants to be married ASAP. She asked me to be her maid of honor. What would you do as far as the dress goes? Should I order my size now and then be prepared for some major alterations when it's time or do I order a size smaller and bank on me losing at least 30 lbs by then. I weigh 264 as of this morning (1 lb shy of 50 lbs total). We will probably get our dresses in July/August. So I guess by then I will be down about 15-20 lbs and by the wedding I should be down about 30 maybe 40 lbs if I keep losing 2 lbs a week. I tell you what it sure does feel nice being able to try on bridesmaid dresses at the bridal salon! I tried on a size 20 and it fit! I was ecstatic! Hopefully by the time we actually order the dresses I'll have to order an 18.
  6. Wow that's awesome that you've lost that much with WW. Welcome to lbt. I've been banded for 3 1/2 months now and I'm 1 lb shy of 50 lbs lost. I've never felt better in my life. I eat so much healthier and i'm so much more active than ever! There are some rules that you do have to follow with the lap band. One of them is giving up pop. I don't know how much pop you drink but for me giving it up was really hard. Other than that the procedure is a pretty easy one. You are in and out of the hospital within a day. You are fairly uncomfortable the first 4 days or so then you are better. I only missed 3 days of work. Everybody's body's react differently with the lap band. That I have learned. Good luck with your journey! HOpe it's a great one for you.
  7. I would just walk as much as you can handle. It was January/February when I had my surgery so it was much too cold, snowy and icy out so I just walked in my house for about 5 mins at a time.
  8. Good luck tomorrow! That's so cool. You will be uncomfortable afterwards but they can give you some drugs for that. Make sure as soon as you are able to you get up and walk, walk, walk. That's always the best thing you can do.
  9. When I was on my liquid diet I lost 5 lbs a week drinking 4 shakes and eating 1 lean cuisine per day. Good luck trying to lose 30 lbs by then! Hopefully you can do it!
  10. When I was doing my pre-testing I only told my mom and my best friend. I didn't tell everyone else until I had my surgery date scheduled. Then I told my other friends and co-workers. Now that i've had surgery I don't really say anything to anybody I just tell them it's from changing my eating habits and exercising. Everyone i've met has been really supportive and nobody's ever been negative.
  11. What does your doctor say? I'm sure there are some tricks they can try to get your band to slip into place. I'm sure your insurance company would pay for a replacement, just call them. Hopefully it will slip back on its own and you won't have to have the procedure done again. Good luck!
  12. You are probably swollen from the strep throat. I would wait until you are healed from the strep before calling for an unfill.
  13. I would definitely look into switching doctors. If your doctor can't take the time to stop and listen to you then he's not worth keeping. You have to put you first.
  14. Lapband was my 1st major surgery since I had my tonsils removed when I was 4. I was uncomfortable for about 3 days and I finally started to feel better after about 5 days. I had surgery on Wednesday by Monday I was back to work and by Monday night I was driving again. It's just those 1st initial days that you feel uncomfortable.
  15. Lol. Being a needle phobe myself I would've freaked out too if the need snapped off like that. But that was something I had to suck up and put up with in exchange for the new me. lol. Hopefully your next fill will go much smoother for you. Sorry about your experience!
  16. Congrats to you! That is so awesome. I know being a part of this website has helped me to keep on track. It's inspiring to hear how everybody's doing and it helps you to stay on track.
  17. It seems like you may be too tight if you are pbing alot. I have 6cc's in my 14cc band and while I have some restriction (I certainly have cut back on my portions) I have not gotten stuck nor have I pb'd. Although everybody is different.
  18. Wow that's awesome that you found your sweet spot so fast! I'm 4 months post op and I'm almost there. I figure 2 fills from now i'll be there. Although I am steadily losing. I lose about 2 lbs a week.
  19. Hi Jessica welcome back! Hopefully everything works out for you!
  20. Congrats on your surgery date! The surgery for me was a breeze. I was in at 6 a.m. and home by 2 p.m. the same day. You are very uncomfortable for the first few days, after that it gets better. Don't let your parents discourage you. You gotta do what you gotta do to get yourself healthy and with lapband it's a good choice.
  21. Welcome Deb! It's amazing how much money it costs us to "diet". Lap band is a wonderful tool that helps you lose weigt and so far i've lost 45 lbs since my surgery. i feel great and have never been more active in my life. Hope everything works out for you! Whether you get the lap band or not.
  22. I'd be switching doctors if i were you! that's bs! you are his patient and you have concerns it's his job to address those concerns.
  23. Sun tea is really good. I go through a picture of that every other day.
  24. I had an upper GI and I was out for it. I just remember laying there on the table and they put some stuff in my iv and then I was out. Don't be terrified. Don't let this procedure prevent you from getting your band.
  25. I don't really think age really plays a factor in how much you lose. You are young so you will probably have more energy to exercise and also your skin will probably have more elasticity in it so you may not need to have plastic surgery. Good luck with your journey it's well worth it!
