  1. I woke up in recovery dieing for water. I noticed I was thirsty before I noticed any pain. I was thirsty for at least 4 days or so after surgery.
  2. Juniper, I am so sorry you didn't get banded! How disappointed you must be. Plus you are going to have to go through surgery again. Did your surgeon say how long you will have to wait? Jamie sounds like you are doing great, congratulations on your successful surgery. Sounds like you are doing great!
  3. Good luck tomorrow! I had never had surgery before either, just 3 babies. I am a big wuss too! I think the plane ride would be the scariest for me!
  4. Julie, I am sooooo sorry about what happened to your family, and I hope they and you are doing much better! You are way to hard on yourself! I had something I should not have 4 days after surgery (it was mothers day) and I smushed it up real well, but I didn't have any reason so do so except for my desire for something yummy. You did really well stopping with only 1 bite! We are all going to make mistakes! If we had so much will power we wouldn't be where we are in the first place! The most important thing we can do is admit our mistake, forgive ourselves, learn from our mistake, then move on. My therapist I had for pre op said something to me that made a lot of since, and I'll share it with you. There are 90 meals in a month, and 21 in a week and 3 in a day. Everyone gets down on themselves if they mess up just 1 meal, then say "sh*t I blew it, I can't do this", then give up. But what they didn't stop to think about was the other 3, 20, or 89 meals they didn't screw up! You will make mistakes, so will I, and maybe a few others on here who aren't perfect will as well. Don't forget to give yourself credit for all the time you wanted to cheat but didn't! I read somewhere once that you should not judge people unless you want to be judged yourself. I don't want anybody judging me or I'll be in big trouble! Keep us posted on how you and your family are doing!
  5. Yep! I am weighing everyday! I hate to admit it but I do. First thing every morning. I don't want to weigh at night because I weigh more then. I was stuck at the 13 lb loss from my 1 week post op, then I'd go up a pound down 1 up 2 down 1 then down another then up 1 so on and so on. Very frustrating when only having about a 1000 calories a day. I have posted this on another thread here somewhere, but I was reading on the main thread that if you are eating less than 1200 calories a day your body stores everything. I have uped my calories and have watched the scale go down 2 days in a row. I am hoping I am on to something!
  6. Karebare, Sarah, and Ann... I hope these get better as you lose weight. I have a bad knee and it is already feeling better! Still difficult to go up stairs though.
  7. I was reading another thread about plateau's and they said if you are eating under 1200 calories a day your body goes into starvation mode and stores everything. I've uped my calorie intake just a bit and it is working I am now losing again! I was at 1000 or less a day.
  8. John, You are doing so AWESOME! I was having trouble losing weight as well and was only eating about 1000 calories a day. I was reading some other threads and they recommend uping the calories to about 1200 other wise your body goes into starvation mode and stores everything. I've tried that and it seems to be working for me. I am down 2 lbs in the last 2 days. I think it's time for me to clean out my closet as well! Ann- I am also wearing clothes that I was not able to get into for awhile as well. Feels Great! I am having a difficult time wanting to spend money on new stuff though because I don't think I'll wear them long enough to get my money's worth. (I'm a tight wad)
  9. My port is smack dab in the middle right under my breast bone. I do have more trouble sleeping on my left side though. Not sure why since it is in the middle.
  10. I was banded on May 6 1 week check up I ha lost 13 lbs. I am now 20 days post op and have not lost any more weight. I am only having about 1000 calories a day. This seems to be the norm from what others have said.
  11. Hey Tm I was banded on the 6th and lost 13 lbs the first week of surgery. I am also eating around 1000 calories a day and not losing anything. Well I go up a pound then down a pound. I guess after reading other post this is pretty normal. You would think though we would lose something. I get my fill on June 16th. Can't wait!!! I guess we'll just hang in there until our first fill. Good Luck!!

  15. Tomorrow I am going to try putting strawberries in with my vanilla unjury Protein. I have been doing chocolate unjury 1/2 a banana and a Tablespoon of PB2 (powered peanut butter) and that is really good.
  16. Hey GR, I have not done the deed yet, but I can feel a hard bump under my incision and it hurts when i bend over ect., I also put my hand over it and put some pressure on it and it seems to help. It makes me feel better to know I am not the only one experiencing this. It sounds if it might be pretty normal. I to would like to know if it is the port or just the incision healing. I hope it eventually goes away! I'm afraid it is going to stick out when I lose weight if it is the port.
  17. Hey Cyndi, same here for me, thank you for your honesty. I feel great as well, except when I bend over, and such. I do not feel any restriction either. I have been good for the most part just eating cottage cheese, eggs, drinking my Protein ect., but I do not feel any restriction so i tried a piece of very thinned crusted pizza and chewed and chewed and chewed to baby food consistency. I felt like I could have eaten another piece but didn't. Like you I wish I could feel what it feels like to get full or stuck to learn a lesson. Although I did cheat that once I am still being really good and I'm only eating about 1000 calories a day and I'm not losing any weight which is pretty discouraging. (I know we are not in the losing weight but healing stage) but still..... The info Special K helped me too, thanks Special K for telling it like it is.
  18. I slept in a recliner the first 3 or 4 days after surgery, then moved to the bed with lots of pillows behind my back for another couple days. Then I was able to sleep on my right side but not the left for a couple of days. Definitely needed a pillow to help support me when on my side. I'm a stomach sleeper and was not able to sleep on my stomach until about 2 days ago.
  19. I've been walking a mile a day every other day. I have been looking for a gym to join but haven't found one I like. I am going to be looking into Curves. I would love to find a gym with a pool and do water aerobics, but everything is about 20 minutes or more away. I could walk the Curves though it is about a .5 mile from my house.
  20. cottage cheese, sugar free orange jello and mandarin oranges yum!
  21. mine is also smack dab in the middle, an inch or so right under the breast bone.
  22. I was told the same thing, but I am tempted to put something on them to help with scarring. I had staples and then at my post op they pulled them out then put steri strips on but they have since fallen off. So now what????
  23. I have the Allergan Lap-Band small. I asked at my pre op appointment which they used and they said they wouldn't know until they get in there. I'm short (only 5'1) and they said it would probably be the small one because I have smaller organs but if I had a lot of fat around my stoma then they would have to put a lager one in.
  24. My surgeon says eat protein first, then if you have room, veggies, then fruit. He says we will fill up fast so make sure to get your protein in. I think that would pretty much be considered a low carb plan.
  25. Welcome and congrats on your date! you can find a list of others here http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f18163/list-dates-only-93389/ I've already added your name
