May 27th, anyone?

I know we have a few of us listed for Wednesday, so I thought I'd check in and see how everyone's doing getting ready. I'm still hanging on to hope that I'll actually get my band in, and not just my gallbladder out!

Got any big plans for the holiday weekend?

I'm planning on doing lots of grilling, and enjoying as much salmon, chicken, and steak and I can!

Doc says no need for an all liquid diet, so I'm going to keep it low-carb, high Protein.

Hope everyone else is doing well!

Hey Juniper!

I'm May 27 also, but with the 2 week liquid diet. Are you doing lapband or Realize? I'm going with the Realize but not for any real particular reason. My DR has done mostly lapband, but likes the design of the Realize more and more. Good luck to you. I'll be watching your success postings!

Good luck on Wednesday Juniper and Jamie. Let us know how you are post surgery. You both have done so great with your weight loss pre surgery. Best wishes!!!

Hi guys,

I am also May 27th. I was really bad over the weekend eating the last stuff.

I am on liquids today, and I feel hungry already. I'm sure it's in my head and not the stomach.

Same as everyone, I am stressed and excited at the same time.

Good luck to everyone tomorrow.

Thank you Melissa!

Regina, Jamie... best wishes to you both.

Hope to hear from you soon about your surgeries, and that you're doing well!

Good luck tomorrow everyone! We'll all be hoping for you to have an easy recovery. Can't wait to hear all about your big day!

Just wondering how all the May 27 surgeries went. Mine went great and I feel really good. Surgery was at 7:30, right on time, and I was in recovery and awake by 9:00. I went home around 11:00 with my liquid Vicadin...YUM! That stuff really works well. Today I'm trying to wean off it a little. I'm tender, but no pain. Hope everyone else is doing as well. Post when you get time.

Hey Jamie,

Glad to hear your surgery went well! I hope you continue to have a speedy recovery.

Mine didn't go so well. My gallbladder was pretty sick, it seems, so they didn't put my band in. And then I had some problems after surgery, so I had to stay the night. Just got home a few hours ago, and still in a good deal of pain.

Looks like it will still be a few weeks before I get my band, but at least I got the gallbladder issue taken care of, and my doc is really wonderful.

Okay, time to rest. So tired... I really don't do well with anesthesia...

Juniper, I am so sorry you didn't get banded! How disappointed you must be. Plus you are going to have to go through surgery again. Did your surgeon say how long you will have to wait?

Jamie sounds like you are doing great, congratulations on your successful surgery. Sounds like you are doing great!

he said "a couple weeks" at first, but i go see him in 10 days or so, and we'll talk then. i guess it really depends on how i'm doing after this surgery.

Juniper, I'm sorry you didn't get banded! :) But I know you are going to feel much, much better now that your GB is out. I had mine out in 2001, and it was such a world of relief! Hang in there, you'll be banded soon!

Congrats, all!

Juniper, congrats on putting that dreadful-sounding gallbladder issue behind you. You're still part of our May family here. We'll all be eagerly awaiting your big day and celebrating with you again then. Take good care of yourself and heal, hon.

Hi everyone,

Glad to hear the May 27th folks are recovering.

I haven't posted because I don't want to discourage anyone.

I guess I am going to take the hard road through this.

I have a rash everywhere there is a bandage, I have the trots so bad they thought I may have picked up an infection so they gave me antibiotics. Then I took one of the antibiotic pills and it got stuck part way down. I thought I was going to die for awhile. I was only thinking of food and I knew I hadn't eaten anything wrong . It finally occured to me what had happened.

So I'm having a rough time, but still think it is worth it.

I was going to try to return to work tomorrow, but I don't think so. Maybe a little more rest first.

Take care everyone. Keep the end goal in sight.

Regina,

Sorry to hear you're having problems. :-(

I've had a horrible past 2 days myself. I've had a pounding headache, and vomiting, and haven't even been able to keep my pain meds down. I'm finally feeling a little better now, but now I'm just even more worried about how my banding surgery will go. I've already told my fiance to make note that I MUST have anti-nausea meds to take home from the hospital next time!

Here's hoping we both get better really soon...

Hi,

I was also banded on May 27, went well. My only problem that started yesterday was gas, it hurts. Have been walking but it is still there. I am sure time will cure! Good luck to you!

Oh, I'm sorry to hear you're all feeling poorly! The pp is right -- time will heal. I had a horror story of pain after my surgery and I didn't post right away either, but I lived through it. If you can, take as much time off from work as possible. I took 10 days, and I wished I had another week to take. I was so wiped out that first week back. Rest as much as possible, get as many fluids in you as possible b/c you're at risk for dehydration right now, and do not hesitate to call your doctor!

We're here for you! We wish you all the best!!!
